Beautiful view I would definitely stay again
We seen the reviews and thought they may have been exaggerated. I can handle rustic, however, the house was dirty, cobwebs everywhere, dangerous steps... We were embarrassed to have our family there. On a positive note it was the most beautiful view I have ever seen.
Nice property. Is on 3 levels which wasn’t a problem. A few lights were out in different areas of the house. The motion light in front didn’t work. We enjoyed the area and the house, it was everything that the post said. We would stay again, very relaxing. Would recommend it.
This was our second time renting this house. We love the lake views, the private boat dock, and proximity to Laurel Marina—it’s all about spending time on South Holston Lake for us. There’s a LOT of stairs which may be difficult if you have older family members, but overall it’s a really great rental home for people who enjoy nature and the beauty of Tennessee!!
We had a fantastic time. The views were incredible and the access to the marina which was just a short walk up the road and the dock which was just down a few stairs made for a perfect week.
Great stay, thank you
Have no complaints and the host where great. We will definitely be staying here again.
We had our family with us to ring in the New Year. There were a few quirks to the home, but everything worked well and it was an accommodating home for all of us and our dogs. I appreciated the prompt communication with Bernard. Since we visited in December, we did not use the lake, but there was plenty to do at the house and in Bristol.
We felt blessed that there were no injuries on the stairs. As the outdoor stairs were not very stable & lacked treads on the steps. The screen door at kitchen was broken, table was wobbly, the drain board in kitchen was filthy, sink in master bath area was very dirty, bath tub was dirty as was the floor. The kitchen was not very nice. The lighting in the house was not good on stairways. Some lights made noises when turned on. The circular stairs to the third floor were not very stable. We enjoyed the views from the house & enjoyed the area. There were no bath mats, hand towels. An area rug in the living room would have helped with the cold floors. The house was not really acceptable for anyone in their 60’s or older. Actually we felt we were in great grandma’s house with million dollar view! So many old / out dated decorations that were dusty & unattractive! Pictures on VRBO were nicer than what we actually found in the house! We were blessed to have had a wonderful family time - due to the fact that we were able to adjust to the oddities of the house.
Overall we really enjoyed our time. We rented the home for a family vacation and enjoyed having everyone in the same home. The views from the home were stunning and we enjoyed grilling/eating out on the deck. Although listed as a 4 bedroom it lives like a 3 bedroom because you must walk through the loft space which has no door to get to the 4th bedroom. Since we had couples this was an issue for us. We thought about moving one couple to the sunroom which is listed as additional sleeping space but there are no shades or blinds of any kind so it would have been impossible to sleep there. That being said we enjoyed hanging out in the sunroom it is just not conducive as a sleeping area. Overall a nice home just be aware that there are only 3 private sleeping areas.
Great place with large space for family! We had nine in our group and we were not on top of each other. Two bathrooms with standing showers and one bathroom with tub only. Best perk…… only 20 minutes from the speedway, seriously a great location! I loved the ease of going to Downtown Bristol as well. If you need a quiet location, this is it!
Renting this property was a good choice except for all the steps. Loved having the Cove to ourself and the kids enjoyed fishing and swimming. Would definitely stay there again.
We booked this VRBO in January as we were coming into town for a wedding in July. The location of this rental was ideal. The owner started off being kind and that excited me as we have several mutual friends and graduated from the same Alma Mater! Some of our group flew in as we now live on Florida, and my husband and I drove in with our two pups as they were staying the long weekend with my parents. The home is dated and needs a lot of work, especially the steps. There were cob webs everywhere (inside and out) which the owner stated “is part of the nature,” and apparently the ants that are pouring out of the sinks are also considered “nature.” I’m not a person to complain, instead, fix the issue and move on. We were extremely busy the entire time we were there, so just worked to enjoy the time we had. Upon check out, we had our parents come down and help us clean as it was important to us to leave the home better than we found it. After 3.5 hours of cleaning, I did a final walk through myself, and felt the home was in amazing condition- much better than how we found it. Then later that night, I get a message on VRBO that read “trash?” And then it never stopped for two days. We had no way to take the trash to the marina and had some confusion as we also had a misunderstanding from a friend that the Marina could pick it up. In hindsight, I wish I had wheelbarrowed the 4 trash cans the half a mile to the dumpster so I could have avoided the terrible harassment and false accusations by this owner. I was asked why I didn’t sweep and vacuum, accused of breaking the Brita filter in the kitchen sink which fell off the first night, and told we left the microwave dirty, in which I watched my friends mother wipe down that final morning as she wiped down the broken refrigerator that doesn’t stay cold, and the stove. Mind you, when we arrived, there was trash around the property and the grills were so nasty that we had to go and buy supplies to clean them in order to grill food. I could go on and complain more but you get the picture. I kindly replaced the Brita filter although it was about the same age as me, and had already paid an $80 cleaning fee in January, but then I was charged another $40 stating that a van had to be used to unload 4 trash cans and it cost them $8 in gas and 4 hours of cleaning which is untrue and that property had been damaged- again, we replaced the Brita filter. The owner also rated me on VRBO in which we have filed a complaint.
Our initial reaction was disappointment but at the end of our stay we can say we had a great experience and the accommodations were adequate and enjoyable. We typically vacation at resort properties but we wanted something on South Holston lake as a base for children and grandkids. This property was perfect. The grandkids loved the upstairs bedrooms, mainly to climb the vertical spiral staircase. The house needs some updates and fresh paint. Bernard was excellent in explaining everything and responding timely to all communications. Bottom line, we had an awesome time.
Had a great time with family and friends at this property and would suggest it to others and would consider going back
My family and I enjoyed the stay at the house. Everything was nice and clean when we got there. I came home with very strong leg muscles because there are I think 67 steps down to the dock! The marina is right on site and it’s very easy to rent a boat for the day. Make sure you take your car when you empty the trash it’s a little bit of a walk. The house was extremely accommodating and well equipped with daily household items.( toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags, dishwasher soap) we would for sure stay there again!
We had the most peaceful stay here. The view was golden. Home was extremely clean and well stocked. Would be staying here in September but already rented for fall Bristol race.
