The home was beautiful and we loved spending time in the lake. This was a perfect location, very quiet and peaceful.
We took a week-long ‘timeout from life’ and this was the perfect location. Quiet, secluded, peaceful, clean. The house was well-stocked, beds were comfortable, and there was plenty of room for everyone. Our six kids all said it was the best vacation we’ve ever had (including Disney!) We will definitely be coming back. Tips for families: Besides the kayaks, we rented a pontoon boat & tubes to explore the lake. Well worth it! We also did a Costco haul prior to arriving so we didn’t have to grocery shop. And though we packed games & movies, we found jumping off the dock far more entertaining. The drive up is appropriately named ‘Tail of the Dragon’ so heads up to those who get car sick!
My family and I stayed here for four nights in late April 2023. The house itself is beautiful, situated on a quiet cove, with expansive views of the lake. The lower floor is a good area for kids to hang out with two bedrooms, one of which has two sets of bunk beds. The hosts were quick to respond to our questions and comminucated well. I would definitely stay here again.
This house was perfect for extended family to gather so we could fulfill my mom’s wish to see the wildflowers at Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest. The wildflowers did not disappoint and neither did the house. With the kayaks and ping pong table, there was something for everyone. The view was breathtaking from all the giant windows facing the lake. I hope we have the chance to come back.
Really nice home on a quiet area of the lake! Includes kayaks, and well stocked kitchen accessories.
From the moment you enter the front door, the gorgeous house and amazing lake views take your breath away. It was myself, my husband, and my thirteen years old daughter. One of the best memories of my life will always be seeing their faces while entering the house. Their eyes got so wide and their jaws dropped. My daughter was walking fast around the house saying “oh my gosh” “oh my gosh” and my husband went directly to the huge wall of windows in front of us, in the living room, to stare at the incredible views: a quiet, gorgeous lake cove, with pristine clear waters and majestic trees everywhere. This view is so peaceful and relaxing that we felt our stress (from our busy working lives) melt away almost immediately. The house is very big, with lots of room to move inside. The bedrooms are all very spacious. In particular the master bedroom is very big, airy, and comfortable. The closets are very big; a huge plus for an over-packer like myself. The entire house is furnished and decorated impeccably. Everything, from the color palette used, the quality and quantity of the furnishings, the attention to detail, give out a feeling of a peaceful retreat, very well cared for and lovingly attended to. Everything is very very clean and well maintained. You can tell that the owners take very much pride in this house (as they should) and it’s their joy to share it with guests. Everything you need will be at the house. It’s well stocked with (beautiful) dishes, glasses, pans, etc. Lots of bathroom towels and lake towels too. We used the kayaks (included) almost every morning, to explore the cove and beyond. Lake Santeetlah is amazing. It’s not overly touristy and you can enjoy relaxing outings with kayaks or pontoons. Most of the lake is part of a national forest so the scenery is very green (in summer at least) everywhere. Kayaking was the perfect way to start our day for us. They provide life jackets too. It was difficult for us to decide which of the many screened patios, porches, or terraces, use at any given moment. There are so many choices of outdoor spaces that we had to give them nicknames. The owners are exquisite. They are very kind, very responsive in communications, and always willing to help in any way they can. It is my hope that all the future guests of this lovely house will spend wonderful times there as we did and will realize what a special house it is. It’s a gem. We’re looking forward to come back!
Had a wonderful family vacation. House was lovely and the lake spectacular. Can’t wait to return.
