Pacific Grove, California
Located one block from scenic 17-Mile Drive, this cozy 2-bedroom + den bungalow is walking distance to the beach, golf, and downtown. Stroll to Lover's Point and hop on the coastal recreational trail to commune with sea, sky and sea lions. Or head a few blocks into town for breakfast at the Red House Cafe, or dinner at top-rated Passionfish or Fandango.
Named after the owner's extensive boat collection, this single story home has a fireplace, hardwood floors, and a peek of Monterey Bay. There's a king bed in the master, two standard twins (38"x75") in the guest room, and a new queen sofa sleeper in the study. Both baths have walk-in showers lined in travertine. The backyard brick patio has a barbecue, a chiminea, and a rose garden: if you like to be close to town and close to nature, you'll feel right at home here.
From the annual Butterfly Parade to the apple trees around Caledonia Park, there's a reason Pacific Grove is called "America's last hometown." A more casual—but no less charming—alternative to Carmel, Pacific Grove is a seaside enclave of restored Victorians and beach bungalows. And the walkable downtown has something for everyone: boutiques, galleries, antique and consignment shops, a cinema, a bookstore—and too many coffeehouses to count.
First time to Monterey and Pacific Grove. The house was very warm and comfortable, enhanced by the gas fireplace. Fully equipped and the best shower ever! Located near the shoreline and the downtown area. Great walking and biking paths along the coast, easily accessible from the house. Highly recommend for a great Monterey stay.
Overall the house was perfect for our needs and a short walk to the perkins park path where we clocked many walking miles for our month stay. We would book this house again.
We stayed five weeks to get away from Wisconsin winters and our stay was wonderful. The house had everything we needed, and was comfortable. The down comforter was very cozy. Kitchen had all we needed. Garage was spacious and had extras in it such as beach chairs etc. We loved sitting on the back patio and listening to the waves from a few blocks away. PG had tons of restaurants, and Monterey was very close nearby with the wharf and a ton of shopping and restaurants. Roy's at Pebble Beach and the Lodge are just down the road on 17 mile drive. We saw whales from shore, and nearly every day saw sea otters in the ocean close to shore doing their thing. I'd return any time.
For 28 days, my wife and I enjoyed a wonderful 28 day stay from mid-February to mid-March, 2020. The Boathouse was cozy and inviting with all of the amenities one could possibly want! It seemed like everyday was sunny & 62 degrees as we took our daily walk along Monterey Bay on Oceanview/Sunset Drive. When we wanted to switch things around, we would drive 15 minutes to walk on Camel Beach and Scenic Road in Camel. And/or......drive 20 minutes to walk and hike at Point Lobos. We also enjoyed The Boathouse being minutes away by foot from downtown Pacific Grove where we made regular stops at Pavel's Backerei and The Bookworks on Lighthouse Ave. Big thank you to Debra and Monterey Rentals for excellent coordination and communication. With the COVID-19 crisis, we did have to leave 9 days early yo return home. However, we look forward to returning in the future to pick up where we left off! FIVE STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our 4th stay at Boathouse for four weeks in Jan./Feb. to escape East Coast winters. House is extremely comfortable and has all the must haves on our list. Although we eat at many of the great restaurants in the area, this time we did more cooking at the house using the full range of the up to date appliances and kitchen ware. Plenty of time to read, rest, sit in front of the gas fireplace and walk along the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Staff is always friendly and responsive. Although we will miss being at the house, when we return home we sing praises to our family and friends.
This is a great location and comfortable small home for 2 or 4. Enjoyed the space and proximity to local attractions '
This charming, small house was perfect for two couples. Appreciated the comfortable living room with gas fireplace, and extra living area in the enclosed, heated porch. Exceptionally clean and well maintained. Great location close to Monterey and walkable to downtown Pacific Grove.
Great location for walking along the coast. Cozy at night with the fireplace and comfy couches. Away from all the hustle and bustle of Monterey, yet very close.
Birthday gal and her 2 sisters were delighted with the Boathouse. Everything was as described and location walkable to town and coastal path. We would love to come again.
The Boathouse was the perfect house for our visit. My mother-in-law needed a house on one level that she could easily maneuver with her walker. Delivered! She needed a walk-in shower. Delivered! She needed an ADA toilet. Delivered!
