Stayed Jul 20, 2025Solid house, especially for the price. Good location 2 minute walk from the beach, 3 min drive to food lion, can walk to beach shops. Overall house was very clean, though we battled a large scale ant invasion in the kitchen all week. Matresses are firm (if you like firm, then cool), kitchen was functional, outdoor shower was solid. Dryer didnt work, needs to be serviced, thats about the only real complaint. Its not a new house by any sttetch of the imagination, but a good option, especially for a family on a budget, your not going to find better for the price, and location, location, location!

Stayed Jun 14, 2025The house looks just like what is pictured on the site. It’s very rustic and great for a family. We needed a place we could stay that allowed dogs . The house was very clean and I was surprised that the carpet did not have an odor from the dogs allowed to stay. Most places that allow pets do not have carpet for that reason. The first day I had to call for maintenance to come out because when you open the front door, there was a piece of carpet missing and the carpet strip had nails sticking straight up. I had two small children and my dog with me, so I did not want anybody to step on the rusty nails. The next day maintenance came out and went to Ace Hardware to fix the issue. The furniture is old, but comfortable. The two bouncy chairs were our favorite and so was the porch swing. We’d love the great round table. It was great for family games and eating crabs. The mattresses, especially in the bunk room are horrible nothing but springs. Also, we found that there are screws in the bunk that are sticking straight out and you could easily stab your head on them If you’re not careful.. definitely not safe when you have children. The location was absolutely perfect to the beach with it being only a few steps away. We brought a beach cart, hoping we would be able to pack everything in that to take to the beach however, we didn’t realize how big the dune area was and all of the steps leading up and down to the beach. Not a big deal though. We also loved how close the community pool was as we rode our bikes there every day! The outside deck and rooftop deck could really use some new boards and maintenance and I’m pretty sure it’s not up to code. They absolutely need to put a railing going up the other side to the front door. The kitchen floor is also soft from water damage and needs to be replaced. Hopefully they will get that fixed. I did not realize the washer and dryer were outside but it wasn’t an issue. I did have to clean it out from bugs and sand being in there, but that’s to be expected as you’re at the beach. The got the job done! Our favorite place to go was muffins and scones. They had great pastries, coffee, and breakfast foods with a few things fixed in this house. It could easily be rated as a 10 we look forward to staying here in the future and hope the issues that were mentioned will be fixed.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969I loved the low rise steps up to the front door, the stained shiplap planking on walls, the cathedral ceiling in main room, the old rattan ceiling fan with light fixture, the bay window in dining area, the large screened porch with swing, fully furnished kitchen, and large master bedroom. The walls had upscale framed outer banks artwork and ocean theme decor. Very beachy and relaxing.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We love, love, love the location, the coziness of the house and that we can bring our dogs on vacation with us. The house could use a new microwave and improvements in the water pressure for the outside shower.

Stayed Sep 10, 2023The property has a rustic cabin, old beach house feeling. The kitchen is well stocked. Loved the barrel dining table. Loved sitting on screened in porch playing games at night. Short walk to the beach was a plus ! Needs some upgrades like new screening on porch and half bath fixtures and would suggest a ceiling fan on the screened in porch ( we bought a box fan for our stay).. Other than that we loved our stay there!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This house was perfect for 6. We didn’t have more or less than we needed in space so the value was there. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware. We enjoyed putting together several of the house puzzles while there. The beach was only a short walk from the house and there were at least 2 public access points we could get onto close by. The beds were comfy and the AC worked well and kept us cooled. I wasn’t impressed with Vacasa as a rental manager though, which is no stain to the house owners. The check in time isn’t until 6pm, which is super late. I called multiple time up in advance of our stay about early checkin and was told first “we’ll call by 2pm that day you if you can checkin early” then on another call I was told to give a call when we arrived to see if we could get in. I received my check in email around 9am with the code. We arrived at noon and called ( which took forever but super pleasant agent) and I was told the house hadn’t been cleaned and we would not be able to checkin until 6pm. So we sat at the house outside from noon on. Come 5 pm no cleaners ever showed up. Eventually we entered the house only to find fresh towels and sheets already done, so it had been cleaned in advance if my noon call. We sat outside for hours waiting when we could have been inside. I’ve rented several times in OBX and this checkin process by far was the most painful. We had our dog with us and I just wanted to ensure we weren’t melting all day waiting, so I could make plans to keep him out of the hot sun while we waited. I received a text to rate the cleaning of the house and I let them know the vacuum was clearly broken. Which implies that the carpets haven’t been vaccumed appropriately nor could I clean up after myself. The rep told me sorry, but they can’t send a vacuum over. Super dissatisfied with that. So, house/location/value = great Vacasa customer service= friendly agents and crappy processes
