Block to the Shore - Amazing Santa Monica Craftsman

We had an excellent week here. The house is exactly what you’d expect from a 1920s home, full of character and charm. The hosts were outstanding, very responsive and genuinely made us feel taken care of throughout the stay. You know exactly what you’re getting walking in.It is an older home, so there’s a bit of that classic “old house” feel, and some things are dated, but that was part of the vibe we were looking for. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed.The location was easily our favorite part. It’s about two easy blocks to the beach and right around the corner from Main Street with tons of restaurants and shops. You really can’t beat it.The master bedroom was great, and the second upstairs bedroom worked perfectly for our three kids with the nook and two single beds. One small area for improvement would be the first floor bedroom off the living room, the mattress, bedding, and pillows there could be upgraded a bit.Another highlight was the bikes, which ended up being clutch for getting around. Having private parking behind a gate was also a huge plus. We rode to Venice Beach in about five minutes and easily got to the pier by bike as well.Overall, it was a perfect week for our family and we’d absolutely come back.

Multiple Restaurants within walking distance. Beach within walking distance. We did not cook but ate breakfast there and had enough dishes to make that possible. Nice dining area. Bedrooms were good. Property and house were near and clean. Location worked out for us. We drove to Malibu and Getty villa one day, and into LA/Hollywood/Griffith Observatory another day. The drive to the house from LAX was not too long.

Great place for family vacation for spring break! The location couldn’t have been better—close to everything we needed while still feeling comfortable and relaxing. The host truly made the experience the best—friendly, responsive, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests. Would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend to anyone looking for a location close to so many things to do/ see in Santa Monica!

Check-in was easy, house was very clean/ton of character, location was perfect (easy walk to beach, lots of nearby food/shopping options, etc.) -- would definitely stay there again

The house was in a great location and was perfect for our extended family to stay. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were nice and the kitchen was well stocked. Loved the neighborhood and the hosts were very communicative. Thank you for a wonderful time!

Lovely home in a great location. We celebrated a family reunion. Great area and close to the beach. Just be prepared that it can be noisy at night because of street noise.

Absolutely amazing little bungalow! Perfect location and so much charm! We’ll be back, already tried to book again but dates weren’t available! Great house with a great vibe, you won’t be disappointed!

Perfect 3 nights, just what we wanted. A no brainier to stay with the awesome host. Access to everything you could ask for, especially without a car. We plan to stay again.

Location is convenient to the beach and restaurants. It’s on a busy street, so there was some traffic/people noise. The house is small but worked perfectly for our family of three. The owners were super responsive to everything while we were there.

The place was great. Pefect for a weekend family getaway. So much within walking distance. The beach was only 2 blocks. We loved just hanging out in the porch and talking. I highly recommed this place. Thanks!

s awesome location, easy walk to beach and main street; parking spot is key during weekends/permit zone times; roomy 2 bedrooms upstairs; bikes and beach chairs are a bonus; property manager very nice and communication generally top notch.-s pretty noisy, right on busy thoroughfare street, bus stop outside; downstairs bedroom is a parlor with sheer shades, full bed takes up almost entire space, and poor mattress/pillows; all the towels in bathrooms were still wet, cleaners hurried to let us in early so that's a one-off I'm sure; no food related supplies at all except basic glassware, pans, etc, plan to buy non-stick spray, salt and pepper, olive oil, etc; gate to parking is manual w/ padlock on the inside - becomes a bit tedious when by yourself or coming/going.A bit spendy for what it is, but summer rates are what they are and the location is exceptional.

Great house, great location and great hosts. Restaurants & bars to explore in the neighborhood. Bikes and locks included in the stay for easy exploration of the beach and boardwalk. Cannot recommend the place enough. Hosts provided great communication and recommendations.I did not have kids with this trip but house had strollers and other kid amenities.

Perfect house for our family if 5 plus grandparents! The kids loved that they could have a room to themselves and they all wanted to sleep in the little nook! Great location. Walking distance to shops, restaurants and the beach. Communication with the hosts was easy and I always got a quick response. Would definitely stay here again.

This amazing craftsman cottage was ideal for 2 moms & 3 teen boys. One of the upstairs rooms states a toddler bed but it’s a full size twin bed. The room was perfect for the 3 tall boys. The cottage had all the necessary amenities - Keurig with comp pods, filtered water, 4 bikes, beach chairs, 2 boogie boards & beach towels. Stephan was a gracious host & even got us checked in early. The location is 2 blocks from the beach and 1/2 block from Main Street with ample eateries & shops. It’s a great place to stay. Thank you.

We loved the location and the house had so much character.

This was a very cute place. The location was wonderful, about 1 1/2 blocks from the beach and close to great eating places. The check-in went very well, with great communication between the hosts. However, due to the horrific nearby fires, we were unable to fully enjoy the location and left early - we hope that everyone in the area is ok, or will be very soon!

We absolutely loved our stay in Santa Monica! The house was so charming and cozy - perfect for hosting our family’s Thanksgiving celebration. While the location was awesome (we absolutely loved being able to walk to the beach every day!), it was a bit noisy being right by the bus stop on Ocean Park Blvd. Lots of traffic, noisy people and sirens going by.

This is a charming, historic home with all of the modern conveniences. Loved all of the craftsman touches and the private parking. Super close to a very nice beach!
