Escape to Black Diamond, a breathtaking modern cabin on the eastern shore of Seneca Lake. Designed for couples and small groups, this architecturally unique retreat blends simplicity, luxury, and the natural beauty of the Finger Lakes into one unforgettable stay. Set along a private road beneath a working vineyard and surrounded by an old-growth hemlock forest, this stunning home feels secluded and peaceful — yet it's just minutes from wineries, hiking trails, and local attractions. >
With only one nearby neighbor and the Finger Lakes National Forest stretching behind the property, you'll enjoy absolute privacy and serenity. Step inside and take in the soaring ceilings, clean lines, and floor-to-ceiling windows framing panoramic lake views. The design feels open, bright, and calming — a perfect place to unwind and reconnect. As the sun sets, the entire western wall glows with golden light reflected off the lake, setting the stage for a cozy evening indoors or out on the deck. The open-concept great room flows naturally between the living, dining, and kitchen areas. The galley kitchen features sleek quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, and everything you need to prepare meals with ease. Enjoy breakfast at the island, then step through sliding doors to the spacious wraparound deck to sip coffee or wine surrounded by nature. The first-floor bedroom includes a plush queen bed and warm, modern décor. Upstairs, the loft-level bedroom features another queen bed and a cozy reading nook overlooking the living space and the lake beyond. The bathroom includes a large walk-in shower and heated flooring, creating a spa-like experience after a day of exploration.

Outdoors, a hot tub awaits under the stars, offering the perfect spot to relax and soak in the peace of lakefront living. Two kayaks are available for exploring Seneca Lake's quiet coves, and the private cove-like shoreline includes Adirondack chairs and a small fire pit — ideal for roasting marshmallows or sharing a bottle of local wine as the evening settles in.

From Black Diamond, you're perfectly positioned to enjoy the best of the Finger Lakes. Visit the nearby Seneca Lake Wine Trail, hike the waterfalls of Watkins Glen State Park, or spend an afternoon exploring the charming towns of Watkins Glen, Hector, and Hammondsport. When you return home, you'll find everything designed for comfort and connection — from the elegant furnishings and peaceful natural surroundings to the thoughtful details that make every stay special. Whether you're here for a romantic getaway, a quiet retreat, or to celebrate something special, Black Diamond offers a truly one-of-a-kind Finger Lakes experience where modern design, lakeside serenity, and pure relaxation meet.

*Ask to learn about additional services that can be added onto your stay at Black Diamond. Host a private chef for the evening, or have a relaxing massage.

*A small fire pit is provided on the lakefront for taking in the sights and sounds of the lake, while warming up next to a modest fire. Fire wood is not provided- please only use local firewood, which can be purchased at many roadside stands and gas stations.

*The road to Black Diamond navigates through a working vineyard, and then becomes a single lane, dirt road with steep twists and turns. It is strongly recommended to have AWD or 4WD vehicles to navigate these roads. A private garage offering space for 2 standard size vehicles with height less than 7 feet tall is available for use. If your vehicle is oversized, or too tall, it's requested you park alongside the driveway.

Beautiful property, views were amazing! Kitchen had everything we needed. Living room furniture was not good for relaxing. After a day out and about would be good to have somewhere to relax and curl up to read or just watch the changing sunset.

Beautiful location, very private, only one neighbor, clean, everything was as described. The driveway is pretty steep as mentioned in their description. Definitely would not appempt going down it without 4wd or Awd. Would stay there again.

Nice place to stay for a wine tasting trip. The whirlpool control panel is about to fail, was difficult to turn on and off.

Property overall is great! Clean, taken care of inside, beautiful spot + lakefront. We really enjoyed ourselves and would recommend. That being said we do feel at the price point a bit more should have been provided. Their was no extra linens aor blankets at all. We were quite cold the one night. The pillows were one per person with a metal headboard. We felt like the downstairs living room seating was not optimal for just relaxing and hanging out. It isn't loungeworthy(it's auestheic only) and as a group of friends we wound up having to play board games in our bed lol. Our butts just needed some comfy seats after hiking! MMore than 2 kayaks would have also been nice considering it's a larger home with more than 2 people staying most often. We got 1.5 rolls of toilet paper for 4 days and 4 people. So we had to grab more. It just felt overall very bare minimum for the price point BUT still a nice place.

The house is new and beautiful, nicely furnished and kitchen is well stocked with the exception of a Keurig. There is a coffee pot but lids provided do not fit so you can’t make coffee. We enjoyed using the provided kayaks. The large deck is perfect for relaxing after a hike or kayaking. We also enjoyed the hot tub. There is one major issue to keep in mind. The water is drawn from the lake and has an extremely strong sulfur smell. When someone is showering the smell permeates the entire house. Though it may be safe to drink the smell is revolting so make sure to bring a significant amount of bottled water. We took note that none of the wineries, breweries or restaurants seems to have the same issue when we used their bathrooms. There must be a way to filter the water. The house is otherwise wonderful and we would stay there again but with plenty of filtered water.

Up for long weekend for 2024 Eclipse - cloudy skies were briefly disappointing, but stay at Black Diamond was bright ! Clean, comfortable, peaceful for our party of four (wife & I, daughter, granddaughter). Enjoyed the quiet, family time ! There is no TV, great to get away from it, played board & card games, did crafts with granddaughter. High-speed internet 100% reliable, did stream to get sports updates ! Deck is great spot to view lake, cook on the outdoor grill, soak in hot tub. Lake still too cold to enjoy a dip or the kayaks provided with the house. Large garage accommodated parking SUV inside. Drive through Caywood Vineyards will look even better when grapes come-in !
