Beautiful home in private setting yet only15 min to town & 10 min to lake

Amazing house

The house is a nice older home with different areas that allow multiple people or groups to sleep comfortably apart from one another with enough privacy. There was an extra portable twin bed and pullout couch which made it nice for lots of girls for a sleepover. The house is a bit dated, but it was high end in the 90s for sure. Today it still has what you’ll need to enjoy your stay (and more) in the kitchen. You will be able to cook everything you would at home in this well-stocked kitchen with slow cookers, Instapot, nice knives, etc, etc. The property is beautiful and nestled in quiet woods. The outdoor deck and table area is lovely. The hot tub was not cleaned and ready for use, but the owner did come over and turn it on and shock it when we texted, however, it wasn’t an ideal situation at 8pm. I would recommend an overhaul with new towels in some areas as they were tattered and worn. For 500 per night that’s a must. Overall, easy things to fix and the house and yard are peaceful, quiet and beautiful. I would stay again- especially with a friend group or family get-together. Ps Go grocery shopping beforehand and stock up for everything to enjoy cooking in the lovely kitchen.

Excellent place to stay! Need more than 2 towels in all 3 bathrooms but everything else was great.

Pros- it is a large house with three separate rooms each with their own bathrooms. It is about 15-20 minute drive from downtown in a pretty setting. The kitchen is well equipped. Cons- not for anyone with mobility issues as there are numerous step ups/downs. This house needs a major cleaning - dust, mold, cobwebs.

Wonderful spacious home. Spectacular setting. Clean and well stocked for family dinner needs. Would recommend this home to anyone looking for peace and quiet.

House was huge for just 2 couples( originally there was suppose to be 3 couples). There was alot of storage if you are staying lo ger than 4 days. Nice big kitchen if you want to cook. We could of used more towels there was only 2 per bedroom.

This house was clean and comfortable. Going up to second floor master bathroom; steep narrow steps and if you’re over 5’ 6” tall watch your head. Once you’re upstairs watch very closely for trip hazard. One in the hallway and one going into the bathroom there is about a 4 inch step. If you’re an early riser like myself you may not have water. Rick was very accommodating and friendly, when I called him very early in the morning about the water because my wife was sick, he came down right away. He explained the water pressure drops when the sprinkler system started in the morning. I am 75 years old, I would probably stay there again but it would have been better had I known ahead of time about the stairs and trip hazards. Nice to see the deer and wild turkey in the yard and a beautiful view from the upstairs balcony. Peaceful and great porch setting area!

Overall it was very pleasant and quiet. Lots of deer, turkeys and one bear. The most well behaved cat also lives there under the porch. Hot tub and hammockwas very relaxing. Cobwebs on most light fixtures, mattresses in both upstairs and downstairs main bedrooms were worn out. A couple cooking pots were so old and worn out, they were not usable. Minor things, but very fixable. Artwork was beautiful!

Peaceful setting, so relaxing having coffee/cocktails on the porch. We had a daily visit from a sweet cat, too. Home was clean, beds comfortable, and had plenty of kitchen necessities. Thanks for sharing your home, Rick.

Check-in was super easy. The large kitchen has extras like garbage disposal, large refrigerator with ice maker, commercial grade appliances.

Really enjoyed our stay in Durango! The house was very spacious, with everything you could possibly need, and laid out to give plenty of separation. We spent lots of time on the porch just enjoying the breeze and the sounds of the wind through the trees. We saw deer in the yard, and the kitty cat that hung out was very sweet. Very good location for going to Durango and Mesa Verde. We would definitely return!

Lovely house, peaceful and relaxing.Hiked every morning and relaxed each afternoon on the wonderful, shaded porch overlooking a beautiful yard.

Beautiful, spacious home with a lovely outdoor space. It's great for small family gatherings. It even comes with an outdoor cat. (I would have loved to take him home!) It's a bit of a drive to town (15 minutes), but we liked being in the peaceful atmosphere. Our only negative was the upstairs master suite was overly warm for us and too many windows to the east so early morning light was a problem as we had to leave the windows open. Durango had higher than normal temps and the AC didn't reach to the upstairs. As long as temps are normal, it wouldn't be a problem. We would definitely stay again during cooler times!

The layout of the house was perfect for three adult females. We each had our own section of the house. The house was very clean. We appreciated how well stocked the kitchen was as well as all paper products, including paper towels, toilet paper, and Kleenexes in every room. There was plenty of dishwashing soap as well as laundry soap, and trash bags. We also enjoyed the cat that hung around.The outside of the house was beautiful and we enjoyed all of the outdoor seating.The only negative was the air conditioning did not keep the house very cool. Also, we would have enjoyed a hammock on the hammock stand.

This is the most beautiful property we have stayed at in Durango. The house is open and airy, with a beautiful deck and kitchen. The house is situated at the end of a quiet street, where the only noises we heard were birds chirping. Our teens loved the downstairs den with the comfy couches and TV for downtime. Rick was the perfect host; very responsive and sent detailed information about the property in advance of our stay. We loved the proximity to Lake Nighthorse and downtown Durango, too.

Was a great house to stay in, clean, beautiful views and a quick drive into town.

The home was very clean! We stayed in main bedroom on first level. For us it was a bit cold. Our daughter and son in law stayed on second level master. The stairs ar steep going to upstairs master. They said the temperature was comfortable and used the small ceiling fan in the room. The home's layout allows for privacy. Kitchen was stocked with needed items. The available washer and dryer was a plus for us. Went through messaging to ask host about instructions for glass bottles and close out, but didn't get reply. I did not try to use the available number because of the time of day and did not want to disturb so late in day. Not sure if the messaging to host could be improved during a stay. This is a great option for a stay in Durango.

We really enjoyed this house. The fenced yard was amazing for our dogs and the home was spacious and comfortable. We also enjoyed the big patio and loved the semi-secluded location.

We had beautiful mule deer as visitors as well as an awesome kitty. Thanks for a very peaceful stay.

Everything you could possibly need, want and ask for! So many positives about this home. So much nature, such a wonderful host, comfortable beds. We enjoyed our time so much.

Absolutely lovely, private, quiet and just the perfect place for the world to melt away! It had all the best amenities for a romantic getaway including a gourmet kitchen, wood fireplace and a secluded jacuzzi tub!

Nice and spacious. Three good size bathrooms for each bedroom area. Huge kitchen. We actually saw deer in the yard a couple of times! Heating system is good. Water gets hot pretty quickly. If you are not used to driving on snow and ice, you may want to pass on this property. The drive is very winding and hilly. Luckily, it was mostly gone from the roads for us. We really enjoyed this house!

Rick did an amazing job with this house from the space, cooking supplies, everything we needed he had and more. We had 8 adults and 1 infant. There’s more than enough room for more. My husband and I stayed upstairs which made it feel as if we had our own home since it was so private with a beautiful balcony where we watched the sunrise from. The deer came on the property the last morning we were there, it was a nice farewell before we headed home. I hope we get the opportunity to stay at Rick’s again when we come back this fall. Thanks Rick for sharing your beautiful home with my family. I forgot to mention, elevation is about 7500 ft. My husband who struggle with elevation sickness did well.

I will start with the fence for the dogs since it is rare to find fenced properties in the area. It met the requirements to keep my elder dogs inside the massive yard they have. Other details include the massive space you get with the house inside. This was definatley a great spot to stay away from the city but close enough to be able to order food delivery.

Beautiful home as advertised. Home is very spacious and of course the hottub is a plus. There is everything you need if you just want to chill out at the hose for days. The only advise/suggestion I would give the owner of the home is to make sure that the fllors are always swept after every visitor departs and that here are tv(s) in the bedrooms. All in all we enjoyed our stay in this home. I would truly recommend anyone who is visiting Durango, CO and is looking at staying at a hotel to instead stay in this beautiful home.-Charles M.

The property was exactly as descibed and even better. We had a 4 and 6 year old in our group and they loved exploring the yard. There was so much space in the house. Thank you for making our weekend so relaxing. We loved it.

Stayed for 3 weeks. Family reunion with family staying with us and in Durango. Celebrated in Durango. Home was beautiful, well stocked ranging from kitchen supplies to towels to laundry detergent. Jacuzzi was used extensively. Ate both at outside covered table and inside. Younger family enjoyed the fooz ball table and darts. Rick ( our host) lives in house next door and always available when needed Durango only 15 minutes away and is such a beautiful town Everyone loved our home and stay. Well worth the money Thank you Rick

Beautiful inside and out. The spacious interior was comfortable and attractive-- superbly equipped kitchen, and excellent bath, bed and laundry facilities. All enhanced by striking photography from the host. There is an expansive deck for grilling with nearby gazebo, and with hot tub in private corner overlooking a fascinating backyard irrigated with sprinkler system--more like a miniature botanic garden than a yard. Mule deer were frequent visitors because of the apple tree there, and a handsome gray fox made its way past one day. NOTE: 1) although it is fenced, the backyard should not be considered pet-proof, and 2) the driveway is a slim asphalt lane through a canopy of trees--vehicles larger than a mid-roof van could not access it easily.

This was our second time staying at Rick's home. It has lots of indoor and outdoor space. We'll defitinely stay here again

Cool place with a cool yard. Not super clean. Lots of cobwebs and dust all over. Bathrooms had clogged drains we had to clean out.

This is a gorgeous property. Everything was to the highest standard and situated in a park-like setting. So peaceful and relaxing. We are most grateful.

Just like the listing says, a pet friendly house outside of town but easy access. Location and house were beautiful. Furnishings and kitchen appliances higher grade. Saw lots of wildlife. Would stay again.
