Stayed Nov 7, 2025Great home and location !The home was build in 1962 and is adorable ! Very unique and stove / oven works just fine .Host was very accommodating when I reached out to tell her one of heaters was not working and she sent someone to have it checked out and bring a stand alone heater to help on some cooler nights. The main seating is cozy but can use some shades to block out glare to the TV . Nice washer and dryer, and this is very convenient to be able to wash clothes so you don’t have to pack as many clothes / bags for a week plus long trip. Great home with everything you need for a comfortable stay . Single beds upstairs were not as comfortable- but I’m sure it’s fine for smaller children. Queen bed upstairs was comfortable, and the King bed downstairs was very comfortable ! Couple lights were not working outside near the garage; prob just light bulbs need to be replaced and a light bulb upstairs as well was out - not huge deal due to lots of natural light. We had some issues with flies but finally figured out they were swarming around due to trash can from previous guests, and then they were fitting in a corner of the garage that needs repaired, and sneaking in the door that goes to inside. Not a huge deal - just inconvenient. The house could have been cleaner before we arrived. Wasn’t bad though- just had to do some light cleaning when we arrived. ( mainly kitchen / den)Overall , great stay and highly recommend due to views and the uniqueness of the home.

Stayed Jun 14, 2025Our family of 5 stayed here in June including 3 kids ages 6-10 and I can't tell you enough how wonderful this home and location was. We spent hours each day at low tide, exploring tide pools and swimming in the ocean. Each night, we watched the sunset and pelicans. The home has everything we needed and was so well kept up and clean! The private stairs to the beach made it accessible and felt like we had the whole beach to our at times. Thank you for the wonderful memories we made here and showing our kids the wonderful coast!

Stayed Jun 8, 2025The most stunning ocean views ever! You could just sit gazing all day! There are great things to see within a 15-20 minute drive but that would take you away. Bear in mind this is a legacy home - not new & modern but very well kept. Only one bedroom without an ocean view. Small negative for some would be if you are a chef as the cooktop is original thats hard to find parts for so a large group with a good chef could be limited to less than four burners. Owner working on this issue. There is a nice deck with built in bench & a wide grassy yard that extends to the bushes and cliff. There are 63 steps down to a private beach & its a great getaway walk. Included in your view is a lighthouse on an indian reservation that's no longer in operation but your view from the house is the closest you can get - viewpoints you drive to it's farther away. Nearby is Sunset Beach - but your sunset view from the house if no fog is exceptional. The host was communicated with by phone or text and was an exceptional person to speak with. She is so lucky to have this home & be able to share with others as she has for many years. The is a large wood burning fireplace for cooler evenings with a woodshed out near your car. The home is beautifully decorated and the beds are comfortable. I was jealous that I did not pick the upper bedroom as the view was something out of a movie. I will remember this fondly and recommend to anyone thats going to be in Coos Bay/Charleston area.

Stayed Jun 23, 2024This is one of the best VRBOs I have stayed at. The ocean views are breathtaking and the retro house with wall to wall windows overlooking the Pacific is all anyone could ask for. The sunsets were stunning. The house has direct access to the beach via a few flights of stairs, but the effort is worth it if you want to dip your toes in the ocean or explore the sea creatures during low tide. Lots of take out options in Coos Bay — I would definitely recommend the German restaurant in town. You can’t go wrong staying here.

Stayed Jun 10, 2024This is our favorite ever rental, out of about 2 dozen experiences. It's not the newest or the oldest property we have enjoyed and we do like the experience of older places when we've done that. This is in excellent shape in an amazing location on a tip of the coastal cliffs. The house is probably late 60's or early 70's but kept and updated very well. The yard is immaculate, like a secret garden. It has an oven/range that is vintage early space age, and ceiling heat. You are immersed in comfortable sunlight all day and watch the sun set on the ocean right next to a historic lighthouse. While the necessarily steep stairway down the cliff to the beach needs to navigated carefully, the beach is largely inaccessible otherwise, and you are treated to rocks and tidepools. Whales can be seen when the time is right, and the constant incoming waves are a perfect sound machine at night. Everything comes together in a way that we felt at home here unlike anyplace else.
