Welcome to Barrister Square—a beautiful penthouse in the shadow of the nation’s capital. The property is situated in the center of Alexandria's nationally designated historic district, just a half block from King Street and steps from the sights, shops, restaurants, and nightlife. With over 200 boutiques and independent restaurants, Alexandria is one of the best places to stay in the Washington DC metropolitan area. Barrister Square is a 12 minute ride from Reagan National Airport and less than a mile from the Alexandria King Street metro and Amtrak station.

The property was designed to anticipate your every need, with high-end finishes throughout. The open concept kitchen is fully equipped with brand new appliances and a bar integrated with a spiral staircase that leads to the loft and upstairs bedroom. The unit comes equipped with a brand new appliances, Roku-enabled televisions, and high speed wifi in every room. The courtyard outside features a professionally landscaped garden with mature dogwood trees, and provides a quiet respite in the heart of the city.

Barrister Square was originally built as a small grouping of attorneys and law offices in a secluded courtyard in Old Town Alexandria. In the grand tradition of barrister history, Barrister Square honors the great heroes of law and (dis)order, cops and robbers, and crime and punishment. The property was designed with a tribute to the rich barrister tradition…think Bonnie and Clyde, the Supreme Court, Prohibition, and mugshots of notable outlaws.

A quick ride by boat, car, or train and you can find yourself at the National Mall, Georgetown, National Harbor, or Mount Vernon, making Old Town an exceptional home base for visiting our nation’s capital. The King Street Trolley is free and runs between the King Street Metro stop and the waterfront. On the waterfront you will find water taxis that will ferry you to various places on the Potomac River, including Georgetown, the Wharf, National Harbor and Mount Vernon. Capital Bike Share stations are located steps away, making it easy to explore the many miles of bike trails along the Potomac. There are many hiking and biking trails, such as the scenic Mount Vernon trail, that runs along the shore of the Potomac River. Whether you decide to explore the city, go sightseeing in Washington, or stay in and relax, Barrister Square offers a modern and relaxing base to explore and unwind.

The location of this house is fantastic! Everything on King Street and Prince Street is easily walkable, so that was great for me and my family. The house was fun and unique, and my kids loved the spiral staircase. The upstairs bedroom with 3 separate beds was a huge plus — it’s rare to find a 2-bedroom home where all 3 of our kids can sleep comfortably, so they were all thrilled to each have their own bed (and my husband and I were equally thrilled to avoid the “it’s not my turn to be on the air mattress” debate they usually have anytime we travel). The only downsides are that there’s no designated parking spot. Street parking is available but it’s pretty hit or miss and the closest garage is about 3 blocks away, so it’s not ideal if you need to carry stuff to/fr your car during your stay. And the check-in process was a little clunky. There are 2 separate units within this building (the top 2 floors are Barrister 1 and the bottom 2 floors are Barrister 2) — that wasn’t very clear when we booked and it’s a bit confusing to know which unit you’re in, so we had someone else try to get into our unit because they thought it was their unit while we were there. Luckily each unit has their own keypad code, so they weren’t able to get the door open but it still freaked my kids out quite a bit. Jen was really responsive though and helped us get everything sorted out when that happened. Overall it’s a good place to stay.

Barrister Square was an excellent home base for our family’s trip to DC and Alexandria. Convenient to the metro and trolley, as well as walking distance to cafes and restaurants on King St, we were spoiled by this location. Inside, the beds were comfortable, A/C took the edge off the heat, and the building was quiet. Would choose again!

Perfect place to land after sightseeing days in DC! Close to Metro, King Street shops and restaurants, and waterfront park. Host was helpful and responsive. We loved the decor, books, and lovely bathroom!

The house & everything in it was great. The spirals staircase was an interesting challenge during the night but we all managed. The only negative that we truly had was the communication regarding parking. We didn’t realize there was no on-site parking & didn’t receive the guide until we were at the front door. So to say we were shocked to have to pay & park off site was disconcerting

In town for 4 days we really enjoyed the location. Metro access made everything much easier. The food and drink options were great and all within a very short walk. It was comfortable and cozy to relax in after a long day out.

We enjoyed our stay at Barrister 2. The location was perfect. The host was very accommodating. She helped us smooth the logistics of 4 people coming at different times from 4 different cities. Loved Old Town Alexandria.

This property was more than I could’ve asked for. It was located next to the best restaurants and shops. I parked in the Courthouse garage which was only 10/day. I felt safe walking by myself with my kids at night in the area. Also there was always an Uber close by. Will definitely be coming back!

Jen’s place was great for our family vacation to DC! The loft is adorable and within walking distance to the metro. The listing description is 100% accurate. Jen gave very detailed instructions from directions to her place, parking and recommendations for places to eat and things to do. Great Host! Thank you Jen for providing a great place for our family to stay!

My family and I spent a week at the unit. The challenge for us was to get a parking spot every night. Another challenge was for my 93 years old mom to go up on a 15 steps staircase Besides that, the owner Jennifer helped me to settle down and helped me to understand how to use the key pads for the entry doors. The unit has everything you will need in the kitchen, bedrooms, and bathrooms. We felt comfortable and secured. There were two Scape Rooms with in walking distances. Something my daughter and her husband enjoyed doing. We did not spend much time in this neighborhood because the majority of the time we were visiting friends and relatives. But it is a good place to stay.

Cozy and sweet, this was a great place to stay for our family while in town. Walkable to everything in Old Town, and very true to the old town historic district! It was fun to stay here, stocked with everything we would need, close to DC and all that Alexandria has to offer. Would highly recommend!

Alexandria was a central meeting point for our reunion of old college friends. The apartment is in a fantastic location near many shops & restaurants, and an easy walk to the waterfront. The place is charming, clean & comfortable. The beds were super comfy and it was very quiet at night. I'd definitely stay here again when visiting Alexandria.

This was the perfect place to stay and let down after sightseeing in DC all day. The trolley stop was right across the street and plenty of places to eat and the waterfront within walking distance. We loved the history of the area. This place was cozy and would recommend it to anyone!!!

My husband and I, along with two of our young adult sons, really enjoyed our stay here in Old Town. Perfect location and parking wasn’t too much of an issue. We just found a garage a couple of blocks away. The accessibility of everything made it such a great experience, not only to see Old Town but to travel back and forth to D.C. as well. We would definitely return!
