Carrabelle, Florida
If you are tired of the chaos at the busy beaches, try this remote beach side house near Carrabelle. There aren't many houses along nearby, so you will be virtually alone way out here. Yet you are only 8-10 minutes away from all the action at Carrabelle, Eastpoint, Appalacacola or St George Island.
The house was originally built by some famous rich guy and he put all the high end finishes in, so the place is beautiful. The first floor is raised 22 ft above high tide and the second floor is 32 ft creating amazing views from every window. Lots decks and balconies The marble tile everywhere is gorgeous. Huge windows let in all the light. A high semi open carport underneath is tall enough to put an RV and large boat or 4 vehicles under it. It has a paver driveway.
The Main floor has a Large Master with a king bed and a twin bed. There is another bedroom on the main floor with two bunk beds (4 beds). Second floor has two bedrooms and a loft. The sea facing bedroom has a king and a daybed with trundle. The other bedroom has a king bed. The loft has a sofa sleeper. 3 bedrooms have balconies.
Sea level in winter is lower than summer. So the extreme low tides around full moon and new moon in December and January can be quite dramatic. These low tides expose an extra 100 yards of sandy tide pools around sunrise. Then later in the day, the sea takes it all back. It makes a wonderful playground. The kids will be endlessly fascinated by the tidal pools at low tide. At high tide, the water is shallow for about 200 yards. The waves break easy here.
If you are into fitness, take the Kayak out and explore the coast. I was really surprised how easy it is to paddle a Kayak. If you somehow get bored with the water, hike the trails in the enormous state park across the street. If you have never been away from the city lights, be sure to look up on a moonless night to see more stars than you ever imagined. Bald eagles fly low overhead and will come play with your kite.
You have great views of the Gulf, St George Island and Dog Island across the Sound. Dolphins swim by regularly. It is one of the best fishing areas around. Many types of birds are in the area including two eagles.
There are all types of activities: boating, fishing, and kayaking, swimming, hiking, site seeing, bird watching, etc.

Paradise by the Sea, Carrabelle FL
Owner has allergies and cannot accommodate service animals. Security cameras record exterior access to property as well as areas marked for maintenance use and storage.
This a beautiful house with an amazing view! Multiple decks to relax and enjoy the scenery. Only issue I have is the road noise, it is louder than the ocean sometimes and the water coming from a well has little pressure. Owner was great to talk with and helped with any issues we had.
The house was perfect size for our family of seven (5 teenagers). It was so nice and convenient to literally walk off the porch steps and onto the beach. The views were beautiful. We enjoyed complete privacy the 5 days we were there. While the beach is not as pristine as Panama City / Destin, we didn’t see a single person in either direction much less have to fight for a place to put our towels or endure a parade of people walking by in string bikinis or speedos. We didn’t have to worry about constantly being on alert watching the kids among a sea of people. Perfect for us to just enjoy time with our family. The kids loved being able to go out and kayak (provided by owner), exploring the whole area for shells and watch the hermit crabs play around. We did some surf fishing and caught a variety of different fish and was able to have fresh fish to eat for dinner. (The kids thought that was the coolest thing. ) The house itself was clean and well laid out for our family. It could use some cosmetic updating but everything worked and didn’t take away from our enjoyment of our time there. Keep in mind, this is a more remote area. So, your not going to find Publix and multitude of restaurants in the area so plan ahead. We found a fresh seafood market to buy fresh gulf shrimp and crab legs at very good prices and a couple of good local restaurants 10 min away. Overall a great place to stay if your looking for privacy and relaxing environment with great views
We had an amazing time. The house was beautiful!
The house was big enough to accommodate all of us. It was right on the beach. The A/C worked great even on the top floor.
We stayed here with family for two graduations at FSU over the weekend. It was a great alternative to Tallahassee hotels. Lots of beds to accommodate different schedules of family and friends coming and going. And the location on the beach was ideal. We spent most of our time on the large deck. The house is large and grand but the towels, decor and appliances are outdated or too worn. It could be really fabulous but is underwhelming. The beach and location are what make this a four star review. We understand the importance of security but trying to get people from 4 states to sign waivers and send DL photos is over the top and a burden.
Nature lovers dream! Easy family days at the calm beach and exciting nights catching crabs and fish in the tidal pools. Large living space, comfortable beds, kitchen has everything you need for a great beach stay. Tons of beach toys and chairs. Kids loved the paddle boards and kayaks. Can take a long walk down the beach past other rental homes and even spot eagles from the pine trees. Thank you for sharing your beautiful waterfront home!!
We saw eagles and dolphins everyday. The beach was close to the house and the sand was soft. We enjoyed being the only ones on the beach.
We had to contact owner to bring housekeeping back the first day. Bed in master bedroom downstairs looked like someone had just laid in the sheets and same for bed upstairs on ocean side. The kitchen and den and laundry room had not been swept or mopped. The washing machine was out of order. We spent most of our first day addressing these issues. I will probably not stay here again.
We absolutely loved the privacy and beautiful home. We had plenty of room for 5 adults and 3 children. Communication with Steve was excellent!!
With all the supplied equipment from kayaks to fishing poles there wasn't a dull moment during our stay. We seen Blue crabs, horse crabs, hermit crabs , sting rays and dolphins every day. I will recommend.
Spent several weeks at this property while we were fishing offshore out of Carrabelle.. House was outstanding and perfect for our needs! Property is super comfortable, well-appointed both inside and beach/water fun wise, and the beachfront location is fantastic. Steve was extremely responsive (thanks Steve). We'll be back next year!
We were very happy with our vacation home. We were missing some equipment for the toys. The owner sent paddles for the kayaks and paddleboard as soon as we let him know they were missing. That was more than expected and very much appreciated. The beach is right out the back door and during low tide we saw lots of fun sea critters. The neighbors we met were friendly and helpful. The area is filled with lots of fresh seafood. We ended up eating on St. George Island, East Point, Carrabelle. All fun adventures. We highly recommend thsi home.
Nice place but the yellow biting flies were bad.
