Don't want the crowded condo experience with noisy neighbors having condo parties & dealing with lugging beach supplies & groceries up multiple flights of stairs Don't want to share a public pool with a bunch of kids peeing in it & whatever other germs they have Don't want to be subjected to a crowded condo or hotel complex Then this private, stand-alone three bedroom, two bath,1938 bungalow with a private combo plunge pool & spa, charming original cypress walls, & tonsof amenities not offered at other properties is for you!

***UNIQUENESS OF THE PROPERTY***
This is one of the last original bungalows left on Madeira Beach from 1938. Most of the other bungalows have been torn down to make way for condos or multi-million dollar houses. The walls are pecky cypress. Pecky cypress is a rare and highly sought after type of cypress popular for the uniqueness in its amazing organic three dimensional textural character. Most people fall in love with it when they see it. These are from true old growth cypress that were cut down in the early 1900s and is estimated to be anywhere from 250 to 2,500 years old. There are still old growth cypress trees here in Florida as old as 3,500 years old!

We have taken quite a bit of time and effort to add touches to the bungalow that pay homage to the history of the bungalow. As you wander the bungalow, you will find many original pictures and advertising for Madeira Beach from 1938 (the year it was built), the 40s, 50, and 60s. We try to provide you a glimpse of what the bungalow was like back then as you are taken back in time with the advertisements for a completely equipped kitchen for $4 a week, a brand new deluxe car for $685 or a new house for $5,000. You will be able to read about the current events of 1938. Then you can start to feel yourself stepping back in time as you soak in the history. You can imagine how the previous owners used the collapsible walls to create open and closed floor plans. Therefore, it seems they were ahead of their time. So if you prefer a sterile condo, this is not the property for you. If you can appreciate the history of the bungalow with the pecky cypress walls, parquet flooring and the collapsible walls, then this is the place for you!

The kitchen comes with white shaker cabinets, pearl white quartz counter tops, mother of pearl backsplash, Restoration Hardware pendant lighting, capiz shell dining room chandelier, converted ship port holes for the main bathroom medicine cabinet, and tons of cool decor for the kids in the bunk bed room such as antique underwater demolition signage, sharks, blow fish, and so much more. You will be entertained for hours just checking out all the unique items in the house.

We also have the some sister properties you may enjoy.
https://www.vrbo.com/4879546 This is our 4 bedroom/2 bath 1940 retro lavender beach house with a huge 32x16 inground pool in Madeira Beach.
https://www.vrbo.com/4879549 This is our 3 bedroom/2 bath 1951 retro pink beach house right over the John's Pass bridge in Treasure Island.
https://www.vrbo.com/4879548 This is our 2 bedroom/1 bath 1951 retro blue beach bungalow right over the John's Pass bridge in Treasure Island.

The bungalow is located literally just 50 feet from the white sands of Madeira Beach. So you will be waking up to the sound of waves lapping onto the shore. Be in the center of it all, but with privacy in your own home that has views of the beach & the crystal blue water of the Gulf from the living room, dining room, kitchen & a peek-a-boo view from the back 45 foot by 13 foot deck. The 1st picture is your view of the beach as you look out the large living room widows under the elevated house that is in front of the bungalow. Please note that pictures 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, & 9 shows your view from the bungalow living room of the beach under the elevated house in front of the bungalow. The white floor area & pool in those pictures is the elevated house's private area. Your patio/deck area is 45 feet by 13 feet as shown in pictures 21-26 along with the plunge pool. Please read the entire description for more information.

***3 BEDROOMS/2 FULL BATHS***
Included in this 1,300 square foot beach house are 3 bedrooms (Bedroom #1 is a king, Bed #2 is a queen size bed for two people and Bed #3 is full sized bunk beds which can accommodate 2 people in each bed). The kitchen is open concept with a breakfast bar. As you can see from the pictures, pretty much everything was recently renovated.

***HUGE DECK WITH A PRIVATE PLUNGE POOL & SPA***
There is also a private 600 square foot deck off the back of the house with a dining table and chairs for 4 and 2 chaise lounge chairs for sun bathing or just relaxing as shown in pictures 24-26. We also have something that no other private house with beach views has that is less than $850 a night...a private plunge pool that is 16' x 8' x 50 deep that has an integrated hot tub for you to enjoy while checking out the beach views! Do you think it is gross to swim in a condo or hotel public pool with kids peeing in it and whatever else germs they have So do we! So keep your family & vacation safe by keeping things private. This outdoor oasis is bigger than most condos! This realistically gives you 1,900 square feet a living space between indoor & outdoor! **Please note**, we ask that you respect that we have neighbors who live here year round & who live 10 feet away. I am sure part of the reason you are renting our property is for the privacy & peace and quiet of being in a residential neighborhood versus a noisy hotel or condo complex. So we just ask that the noise levels are respectful of our full time neighbors. We also have a local ordinance which governs a 9 pm curfew for commercial pools. All children under 18 must be supervised by someone 18 years or older at all times in the pool area. We appreciate your cooperation.

***AMENITIES - PADDLE BOARD, KAYAK, CARTS, PRIVATE WASHER/DRYER, BEACH UMBRELLA, BEACH CHAIRS, PLUS MUCH MORE!***
The property also boasts a fully equipped kitchen, smart flat screen TVs, Sling streaming TV & free high speed internet. All linens and kitchen utensils are provided. A private washer & dryer are available for your use inside the bungalow unlike the condos which you have to pay $4 per wash & dry your clothes in a dingy common area laundry room. We also include a laundry detergent saving you more money & making your stay more hassle-free! One parking space is included. Ask about options if you need a 2nd. We do also include beach chairs, beach towels, beach umbrella, boogie boards, & swim noodles for your enjoyment. Since we provide you items like beach chairs & umbrellas (most other rentals do not include the large umbrellas & beach chairs), you will save the $5 per day, per chair beach chair rental fee or the $15 per day umbrella rental fee charged on the beach! What's more is we are now including a beach cart to make getting all of your beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, coolers, toys, etc to the beach a breeze. Condos can't offer all these extras as they don't have the storage space for all these extra items. We also now are including one paddle board which normally rent for $100 per day. In addition, they are a high-end paddle board which coverts into a kayak with the kayak attachment. Kayaks also rent for roughly $60 per day. We also have a special paddle board cart so you can easily get them to the beach. So we save you tons of money in rental fees & laundry fees that can potentially cover the cost of your rental!

***LOCATION & LOCAL ACTIVITIES***
You just can't beat the location for convenience either as John's Pass is only 3 blocks away! It is within walking distance to several fine dining opportunities. Thus, you can easily make do without a car.

Historic John's Pass Village is only 3 blocks away with a host of entertainment options including; many great beach bar and grills, nightly live music, wine tasting, dolphin tours, jet ski rentals, parasailing, sunset boat tours, alligator petting exhibit, pirate ship cruise, & so much more. Dining options 3 blocks away are also plentiful such as Bubba Gump, The Friendly Fisherman, The Pirate's Den, The Rusty Anchor, Mad Beach Craft Brewing, Gators & more! Don't pass up the opportunity to take a stroll over the Madeira Beach Bridge for some great views.

Bob treated my family like royalty. I sincerely appreciate his efforts to make our stay excellent. The beach was a straight shot from the front door. Beach chairs and goodies were a benefit of staying in this property. Great food was 5 minutes away. My kids enjoyed walking to the beach, combing for shells and spending time in the water. The bungalow is well furnished and the 1938 theme was a nice touch.

The view in the photo is from the house directly in front of the property listed, but non the less the beach just steps away. The home had everything we needed, and Bob the host was beyond accommodating in every way. This is an older home, but it had so much character and history in it. The news articles from the time in history the house was built on the wall were neat to read. We were in town for soccer so we didn’t spend as much time as we would have liked at the beach but we loved coming in at night and playing with the mini Nintendo, and just spending time with each other. We are a family of 6 and had plenty of space and bathrooms. We did wish we could access the plunge pool a bit later than 9 as we did not get in until later most nights, but that did not make or break our experience. We would recommend staying here to friends and family.

The house was neat, flooring was bad. Good location, but owner lives next to property (they are on top of one another). Owner made it so he had to come in and give a tour in beginning - seemed odd to me. The dryer ruined my clothes with a bad belt and grease like stains. Owner insisted on coming in to try to get stains out. Owner rented us some fishing poles which was nice and made sure we had two blow dryers which I asked for. Unusual set up, but nice area.

The Host went above and beyond probably top experience with a host in any VRBO stay, very polite, friendly, our flight was delayed, they accommodated late check in, weather was unseasonably cold, they put extra blankets on the beds for us, and helped us print travel docs for our cruise - just absolutely above and beyond. Can’t beat the location, close to all the best ST Pete places of interest. House was as described, older, a lot of character, the partitions dividing the rooms don’t provide the greatest privacy in the world but were sufficient for us as a family. Also the temporary light switch in the third bedroom was missing but there was a lamp inside so it was fine. The overall area has some healing still to do given the hurricanes that went through and while it is recovering you can tell there is still much help needed in places to return it to the condition you are used to if you traveled here before. Great host, great house, great proximity to beach. Only negatives were the washer and dryer while they looked newer were a bit suspect and didn’t dry our clothes very well and the swim spa was something we were going to take advantage of given the offseason weather and the ability to heat to near hot tub level temps, unfortunately it was so cold despite trying to run the heater we never could quite get it warm enough for us to get in as a family, which is no one’s fault, it was just really cold that week, my guess is the other 51 weeks a year the swim spa heats up fine.

Had issues with the dishwasher and lights, but resolved. Couldnt cook with pans as everything sticks. Cheap.Had 4 forks, but that was resolved also. Appliances and TV's good. Think we overpaid for this property being this time of year and conditions.George

The bungalow had a lot of extras included such as chairs, umbrella, and a convenient cart to haul our stuff to the beach. The owner was nice and informative and made check in and check out a breeze.
