Beach House - 6 BR - Pool

This beach house was perfect for our big family vacation. The location is excellent being on the quieter West Beach side of Gulf Shores and having the Waves store nearby was super convenient for all our beach needs. We had 10 adults and 3 children on our vacation and we all loved being right on the beach and having the pool for the grandkids was a plus. The kitchen was fully stocked with plenty of pots & pans to cook our big family meals, there was ample room for sitting at the dining table & the bar stools provided extra seating at the kitchen island. The bedrooms were nicely done and the bathrooms/showers were found to be clean. The master bedroom balcony overlooking the ocean was my favorite spot to “Wave Watch” and our grown kids enjoyed the outdoor table area to hang out after dinner & watch the children swim in the pool. When booking this home originally, I noticed the VRBO headline states ENTIRE HOME however, this is a DUPLEX setting and that is mentioned in the property’s description. I contacted the owner about the discrepancy and she was quick to respond to clear up the VRBO listing confusion. We took it in stride and the grandkids enjoyed meeting new friends with the family’s children who were vacationing nextdoor. The communication with the owner was exceptional and she was kind enough to meet our special needs as well. The only surprise was how fast our week at the beach went by! So, we certainly look forward to being able to vacation at “Wave Watch West” again.

Overall it’s okay, but would not stay here again. House is older which we knew upon booking. We did not have hot water for 2.5 of our 4 night stay. Bill was responsive to our hot water issue, but had to have maintenance out to the property 3 different times before it was fixed. I attempted to discuss discount for this major inconvenience, but this was never followed up on or received. Overall it seemed clean. The newer showers were nice. Sheets smelled like mildew and had some stains- had to washed them night we arrived. Pool liner was ripped in multiple places. Porch had multiple raised place causing minor injuries to our children. No poolside umbrellas or shade. Broken poolside chairs. Porch/beach walkway grown up with brush and sand spurs.

Just what our family needed for a great vacation. Beach location was excellent and the shared pool was a great addition. Owners were very responsive to a problem with the water heater and had someone there within a couple hours on a Sunday.

Our family had a nice week on property with a few bumps along the way. The home had plenty of space for everyone. We were a little disappointed with a few things. Most of it was to be expected renting a duplex with tenants on the other half of the house. When we first arrived the family and several children on the other side of the duplex pretty much took over the pool and this continued throughout our stay. Including one of the children pooping in the pool on day one. So needless to say we weren't ever able to enjoy the pool. Also the tenants on the other side had way more vehicles than the 4 allowed and kept parking in our designated parking spaces. At one point there were 6-8 vehicles and way more than 13 occupants. So I am hoping in the future for a bit better occupancy and vehicle management from the homeowner so everyone can fairly enjoy their stay. We did have one issue with the house itself. We never really had enough hot water for more than 2 showers and on our last 2 days had no hot water at all. I am confident that had we brought this up to the homeowner this would have been resolved but we didn't want to bother with scheduling service during our stay. Not sure if the hot water heater is shared with the other half of the house. If so that would explain why we had no hot water. We enjoyed our stay and definitely enjoyed the location of the home. The home could use a bit of updating but over all is a good property.

The beach house was great! We had a wonderful vacation while there. Would stay again and would recommend to everyone.

The house was as advertised. The pool was a huge plus considering the gulf was over ran by jellyfish. The house was located just a few minutes from downtown. We would definitely consider this house again for future vacations.

Our annual family beach trip was amazing!! We had ages ranging from 11 months to 83 years old. Home is directly on the beach and was just perfect!! Charlotte is the perfect host and was most helpful! Hope to stay for future trips!

Private beach access fantastic, great location to grocery, bait store, food & shopping!
