Harpswell, Maine
Morse Shore is a 3-bedroom 2 bath home overlooking the beautiful Merriconeag Sound in Casco Bay, Harpswell.
This home is centrally located to all attractions in the local area. Within a 20-minute drive you can be on either side of Harpswell's peninsulas, hiking one of our nature trails, shopping at local food markets, and gift shops, or eating Ice cream. We have restaurants with incredible food and views to satisfy any taste, of course we recommend the seafood! Eat in or take out, you can't go wrong. If you want to cook at home there is a propane grill outside or fully stocked kitchen with Bosch and Fisher & Paykel appliances to help you whip up a family favorite. You will find dining for 6 inside and 8+ outside on the deck.
While at home, pick one of the two decks to sit, relax, watch lobstermen haul their traps or the water sparkle. On a chilly day curl up for a nap or read a book while still being able to take in the view. On the evenings enjoy gathering around the firepit for memory making chats and drinks. At any time the beach is just a 3 minute walk from the house. There is a safe place for launching kayaks, swimming or having lunch at the picnic table.
If outlet shopping interests you, LL Bean and all the outlet stores that Freeport has to offer are just 30 minutes away.
A few of the local Harpswell restaurants we recommend within a 20-minute drive: Erica's Seafood, Dolphin Restaurant and Marina, Pammy's Ice Cream, Uncle Pete's Community Market, Island Candy Company, Salt Cod Cafe, Cook's Lobster & Ale House, Sundrenched and Bailey Island General Store (BIGS). Please confirm hours before arrival for seasonal days and hours.
We recommend a car for your stay here in Harpswell, Morse Shore is located 20 minutes from major grocery stores and the town of Brunswick. Great location, amazing view. Process was super simple.
Would never get tired of that view! The house was very clean and well stocked. Very responsive and helpful property manager, David. Note - tall people need to beware of the low ceilings on the 2nd floor, especially in the bathroom. Also, the water access for kayaking is about 1/4 mile down the private road. Kayak rental recommendation: Seaspray Kayaking. No complaints at all, and we would definitely stay there again!
We had a Great Time in this beautiful old house, very cosy and nice for our Family of five. Enjoyed very much the wonderful view, fully equipped house, nice neighbourhood.
This well-maintained three-bedroom home on a quiet private road was great for a family vacation that included a young child. Lots of light and water views throughout the dining room, living room and large sunroom on the first floor, with a large front lawn and 2 decks. A sheltered rocky beach is just a 10-minute walk down the road.
This house has a view of the sound from most windows. You do not get the sights, smell and sounds that you would get if you were closer to the waters edge(for some that might be a plus but we kind of missed it), but the view is still lovely! There was lots of room to spread out, espeicially for four adults(size of our party), but even with kids this house would be very comfortable.(Four twin beds in one room upstairs we did not use, and our adult son & wife used the kingsize bed in the other upstairs room). Stairs might be a concern for some older folk like us, but the bedroom downstairs was plenty comfortable. There are two sitting areas in the house and two decks to choose from to either read quietly on or provide a hangout together for cocktails or dinner! The kitchen is fully equipped for all of your cooking needs. We love the Bailey, Harpswell and Brunswick areas having spent lots of other summers in and around here, and there are many restaurants within a 20 min. drive or less if you are into eating out. We were here the end of August and some places were closed for the season or on vacation. Even on warm days with the windows open and the breeze we were very comfortable. Upstairs rooms were a bit toastier during the day but we were ,ostly out and about. David, the manager, was great to respond quickly to questions which was greatly appreciated. We were asked to run dishwasher and put away dishes before leaving and running the first load of laundry. Not sure why the cleaning fee did not cover this? At any rate, overall we had a great week and would recommend this comfortable home and the area as a great way to experience the coast of Maine!
clean, well stocked, responsive manager, nice walking neighborhood road to pebble beach, quiet. one downstairs bedroom and a bath with walk-in shower. 2 bedrooms upstairs, one with 4 singles and one with a king.
Great location in Harpswell with access to neighborhood beach. Close enough to Portland and a variety of Midcoast locations. Comfortable and well equipped house.
We had an amazing stay from coffee on the deck overlooking the sound to cooking many seafoods in the kitchen. It is well stocked, organized and spacious. We all decompressed and loved the entire week. Our last event was a sunset sail with Seaescape cottages and cruises. It was amazing and my only regret is that I waited 20 years to do it. Thank you so much. We will be back.
We had a great time with family enjoying the islands.
What a nice place! The kitchen was especially well equipped for my wife, who is a serious cook. She brought only her chef's knife and her Instant Pot--and needed nothing else. The sun room was especially pleasant, and the view of the water, especially at night under a full moon, was magical. Our only nit: stairs were a little steep for someone recovering from hip trouble, and the oar railing, although very charming, was not the easiest to use. But for most people, this would be a perfect house. We're delighted we had the chance to stay there.
