the house is beautiful and spacious. The kids loved running around the property, The wedding venue is beautiful. Would recommend. My only draw back would be curtains on the bedroom windows. Close to everything we wanted to do and the establishments everyone was very friendly.
We enjoyed our stay at Balcony Downs. The property is beautiful, with lots of history and plenty of areas to explore. They also have a sister property you can use located on the Maury River which is great for fishing and lounging.
We stayed here this past weekend with my family from out of town and had a wonderful time. We loved the beauty of the property, woods, and creek, and of the beautiful historic home and we will definitely return. The property manager was extremely quick, responsive, and helpful, and we thoroughly enjoyed all of our stay.
Amazing location. Beautiful grounds. Perfect for our weekend away!
We had the pleasure of staying at Celeste and Daniel’s beautiful Buena Vista property April, 2023. While I booked the property on VRBO, I was contacted by Evolve who managed the property and reservation. The contacts from Evolve were clear, and accurate, with additional informational contacts from Celeste. Celeste was easy to reach to answer the few questions we had. The home is beautifully appointed, and beautifully located. There was so much space for our 5 young (4 boys and 1 girl) grandkids to run around on the property, and the entire family (11 total) to enjoy! We hiked behind the property, spent countless hours fishing on the lake, made s’mores, and especially enjoyed the gorgeous and serene river property. Natural Bridge was a short drive away, and worth the time! A surprising bonus adventure was driving through nearby Safari Park, where all of us were able to feed unusual animals, and enjoy the zoo section. We were lucky to meet Celeste, as she dropped something off on the property, and were offered a short tour of the home, with detailed explanation of it’s history. From start to finish, the experience was absolutely perfect for our family! We would highly recommend a stay at this beautiful property!
Great location for a family to hang out and spend Thanksgiving together.
Balcony Downs is a stunning historical property near Lexington, VA. Beautiful house and grounds. The owners could not have been kinder, sweeter, and more accommodating. We will visit this area again just to stay at this wonderful property. Thank you.
We travel a lot and love staying at unique places with a more homey feel. I booked this house for its history but did not expect to fall so in love with the whole property. The views are AMAZING! It is secluded and private but still close to town, activities, wineries and hiking. We didn't check out the river access until end of our stay and I do regret that. We should have planned a whole day just at the river property. For the short time we were there, my family had the entire place to ourselves and it was a paradise. It was so nice to see the kids playing in the shallows of the river and catching crawfish. If you love outdoors, it is a must! The house itself is spacious, super clean and well decorated. The kitchen has everything you could want and more. I could live in that kitchen! The back porch faces the mountains and is perfect for morning coffee. The sunrise over the mountain was spectacular. There are huge open fields where the kids can run, play and explore. There is a massive old tree with swings that we really enjoyed. You can hike from the property to the creek where we found a few really nice swimming holes and fun bouldering. I really appreciated that our host took time to tell us the history of this place, which is incredible and was a great learning experience for the kids. All in all, this was one of our all time favorite family trips. We will definitely be returning and next time plan to book the entire place for our extended family to enjoy with us.
This place is so amazing I don't know where to begin! Definately underpriced. The house is located on a gorgeous private estate with two guest houses and a huge event barn. I booked the entire place for a family reunion and couldn't have been more happy to have found this. I'm picky about cleanliness and this place did not disappoint. Our host was quick to respond to any questions and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. Comfortable beds. Crisp white linens. Tons of space. Amazing private hiking and rock climbing accessible from the property. Lots of wildlife to watch. Private sanctuary only 1 mile to town. I cannot describe in words how stunning the landscape is but I especially love the morning mist over the mountains and watching mama deer and her babies grazing in the open fields. The energy was relaxing and just what we needed! The river access is just as incredible with a ton of beach area and a large patio for entertaining. The access is on one of the most scenic parts of the river where the water is crystal clear and has a beautiful aqua tint. The guys had fun catching fish and there are several hammocks around to just relax in. I can't say enough. This place is hands down the best kept secret I've found in years!
We had so much fun at this property. The riverfront at Haven Hills was such a nice part of renting this place
place was fantastic. Very clean and cozy with everything you need. In a great location, right off of the mountains and even has river access, owners are very accommodating. Would definitely stay here again!
The kitchen is well equipped with utensils, pots, pans, spices, etc. Plenty of dishes and glasses also. The manor house is very large and well-equipped. A few interesting rooms that branch off from the main areas of the house. Plenty of nice furniture. The view of the mountains/big hills behind the house is majestic! Not an exaggeration. The Florida room is a great place to sit inside and appreciate the view. Same with the back patio, except of course you are outside. The owner provided wood to make a fire in the fire pit, which we did. There is a large TV in the sitting room, though we didn't use it. VERY quiet area if that's what you are looking for; can't hear any traffic or other people. There is also a fishing pond on the property if you want to take advantage of that. Lexington is not that far (20 minutes) which has some good restaurants -- we ordered dinner from the Southern Inn one night, which was very good. Natural Bridge is only 8 miles away and is a great place to visit; we went there one day. Only drawback was we couldn't figure out how to turn on the oven, so we did all our cooking on the stove, which worked well.
