La Jolla, known as the Jewel of San Diego, is a must-see for anyone visiting Southern California, and if you want to stay in the middle of it all, this is the perfect vacation rental. Casa del Sol is one of 4 historic Beach Cottages built in the 1930s and lined up along a stairway leading from Prospect Street to La Jolla Cove known as Ocean Lane. As La Jolla grew and developed around them, the cottages have retained the original charm and appeal that have hosted countless visitors over decades of fun and relaxation.
Casa del Sol has been nicely updated to feature all the modern–day comforts of home. Comfy furnishings, two flat-screen cable TVs, a dedicated dining area, a fully–equipped kitchen, and a gas fireplace,

Casa de Sol is just off Prospect Street, with a bustling mix of ocean–view restaurants, coffee shops, one–of–a–kind boutiques, art galleries, jewelry shops and more. Walk down the stairs to the ocean and view basking seals at La Jolla Cove and the wide grass expanse of Scripps Park overlooking the La Jolla Ecological Reserve, featuring sea lions, dolphins and even whales during migrating seasons. With water visibility sometimes exceeding 30 feet, this is a very popular place for scuba, snorkeling and kayaking.

FROM TORREY PINES ROAD: turn right on Prospect Place which becomes Prospect Street. Turn right on Jenner St. (at the Grande Colonial Hotel) Take your first right on Coast Blvd. S. Casa Del Soleil will be the first cottage on the right.
PARKING: There is street parking on Coast Blvd. and Coast Blvd. South. You may have to hunt a bit, but you can usually find a spot within a block or two. There is also a parking garage at 1111 Prospect (in the Morgan Stanley building) and there is a key fob in the home during peak season (June-August). Be mindful of street parking restrictions!

This was a perfect stay for two to explore La Jolla. House was super-clean and the check in process was very easy. Communication with the property company was clear and friendly. Highly recommend!!
The perfect spot for our spring break adventure. Cozy, but had everything we needed and the location can’t be beat! Our kids (9 and 11) slept on the pullout couch with no complaints and the bed in the master was super comfy. Communication with the owners was prompt and clear. Would highly recommend!
Fab Location in La Jolla
My husband and I had a wonderful time staying in this cute little cottage. It was very clean and exactly as pictured. La Jolla is a very walkable town and the cottage is in the absolute best location! So many places to explore. My only negative comment is the couch was not very comfortable but that would not keep me from staying here again. Highly recommend!

The place was great, 5 min. to ocean, 5 min. to shops and restaurants. Clean, cozy...
Beautifully decorated and appointed, very quiet, solid house, perfectly situated, loved staying here. BUT bedroom and shower are very cozy, almost impractically so, there's no municipal lighting of Ocean Lane at night, the 10am checkout time is kinda early, and given that we had to take out our own trash and run the dishwasher before leaving, the cleaning fee of one sixty-five for a very small house is a bit much. Also, the directions and parking explanation that is part of the property description are accurate, those published prior to arrival are not.
Really enjoyed my stay here. The place was perfect. Save for the renovations going on across the walkway, it's everything it appears to be in real life: a very tastefully updated, super clean historic cottage smack dab in the heart of the village. Super convenient to everything downtown La Jolla has to offer. The cove and the park a block and a half west down the steps, and north, south or east to restaurants, bars and shops. Perfect for a solo traveler or two. Loved the compact but full kitchen even though I only ever made coffee. The sleeper sofa (though never used for sleeping) isn't all that comfy as a sofa and slightly less clean than the rest of the place but if you're downtown in La Jolla you probably won't be sitting inside very long anyway. The coffee shop/restaurant up on Prospect dumps their garbage behind the restaurant and close to the unit (though it's concealed behind a door), so some stray spilled or blew down the walkway near the entrance of the apt. No nasty smells or visuals however. I was a male solo traveler who didn't mind but only other thing I'd add is having a motion detector porch light might be helpful for others. Unless you remember to leave it on before you go out for the evening. Can get a little dark in the walkway when entering the code. Oh and if you have luggage definitely enter from Prospect St and not Coast Blvd (where you'll have to navigate steps). All that said, the place still manages an easy five stars. Will definitely return. Bluewater was very attentive btw. Received a welcome kit and daily text messages checking in on my stay.
Great location!
Everything was great! Location is great !! Clean . Quick walk to the beach and great restaurants . The only thing was on check out day, they were there early to clean and stood outside the door until we left so we felt pressured to hurry up and get out even though it wasn’t quite check out time .
Loved my two week stay at this special cottage. It’s quaint and perfectly located in the heart of the village. Easy walk to beach, coffee, shops and everything else you need. Check in was a breeze and management was fantastic. I will most definitely be back!
