Amazing view from the balcony, with so many species of birds! The owner is very friendly and helpful and the check in process very easy. The property is spacious but is let down by the inadequate shower which dribbles pathetically in a corner whilst you fight with the curtain and the rear covered area which leaked so you couldn't enjoy the outside picnic bench when it rained. The local village has two supermarkets, cafes and restaurants.
This was our second stay, and it didn't disappoint. Weather was lovely and so were the owners, just as before.
Just what we wanted
We spent 2 very relaxing weeks at this lovely accommodation. 5 minutes drive from Argentat meant that we had all the convenience of a town with the tranquility of the countryside. We are family cyclists, and that proved to be the only downfall of the location in that the hill to get up to it was long, and very steep. As a consequence, the bikes weren't used much & if we were to stay there again, we probably wouldn't bother taking them. Lots of opportunities for walking though both from the house and locally. Obviously, the Dordogne is close by and all the associated activities available in Argentat. There is no pool at the house, but there is a municipal pool in Argentat with slides (12 euros for the family for the day), and a beautiful municipal pool at St Martin Le Meanne which is very quiet & has a diving board (9 euros for the family for the day). We also found lakes to swim in which had adjacent municipal campsites, so toilets / showers / changing was no problem. Restaurants / Cafes / Markets a aplenty. The house itself is lovely. Full of character with some beautiful furniture. Everything very functional & we found it excellent. If you want modern furniture, fixtures & fittings, then this isn't for you, but we found it completely charming. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Our French isn't that good - we can just about get by, and English was limited, so we found ourselves speaking via email & using google translate! They live opposite and were really accommodating. There was a problem with the Wi Fi & also the hot water during our stay - the wi fi was sorted within 24 hours & the hot water problem was just a fuse 'niggle', which we were taught how to fix in case it happened again (which it didn't). We even had a gift of some freshly frown veg during our stay, which was delicious. All in all, fabulous location in a beautiful area with plenty to do & a charming, traditional French house. I would definitely recommend this accommodation.
