APHRODITE
This quaint, inviting retreat is perfect for a romantic getaway for couples. It has all the amenities you need to be comfortable and is situated ideally in the south side neighborhood of The VILLAS at Heron's Landing. Relaxation meets recreation as you enjoy the back porch view of the Harbor or saunter five minutes into town to dine, shop or gather with friends.
The kitchen is fully equipped with quality appliances including a Kuerig coffee maker, toaster, utensils, pot and pans. Just bring the groceries and you’ll have everything you need to cook your favorite meal. Read a book, watch a movie, or spend quality time with friends or family.
For restful sleep, dream away in the bedroom with queen size bed and additional flat screen TV. Wake up and sit on the covered porch in the morning as you enjoy your coffee. Write. Catch up on the novel you’ve been meaning to read. Relish the calm and serenity.
House Rules:
During your stay, we ask that you remember to be respectful of your neighbors. Quiet hours are from 10pm- 7am. Events, parties or gatherings in or around the home are forbidden. Also, your pet must be caged if you decide to leave fido unattended. Should you choose to ignore this, there will be a $300 fine assessed for breaking this rules.
Additionally, thank you for respecting our "no smoking" policy so that we can keep our properties in the best condition possible. Should you choose to ignore this, there will be a $300 fine assessed for breaking this rules. We thank you for refraining and being respectful of our homes - please don't make us hunt you down for fines as it cuts into our naptime.
Also, do not forget to enjoy all the nearby amenities and activities including swimming, fire pits, kayaking, kite flying, trail hiking/walking, bike riding trails, craft beer and wine tasting, zip lining, sky diving, glass blowing, and much more, not to mention the fun you will have just strolling around the Harbor and enjoying the Sand bar, beach and restaurant.
POSITIVES -- Cute Cottage -- Nice Decor -- Very Clean -- Lovely Bathroom/Shower -- Soap, Lotion, Shampoo, Conditioner -- Well Stocked Kitchen. Dishes, Pots and Pans etc -- Parking right in front of Cottage -- Very Quiet Neighborhood -- Dog Friendly -- Easy to find and close drive to town -- Porch on the back of the house was cute NEGATIVES -- Frustrating Door Lock/Unlock system - Found that if you pull the door toward you when locking, it seemed to lock more easily. As far as unlocking, I have no clue. We would put the proper code in each time, sometimes it would unlock, sometimes not. -- Very uncomfortable bed. The mattress was concave. My husband and I would end up sliding into the hole in the center of the bed. We referred to it as The Abyss. -- Our nephew slept on the pull-out sofa bed. He also noted that it was not very comfortable. Not sure what the problem was there, but he ended up just sleeping on the sofa instead of the pull-out sofa bed. -- Lots of construction going on. The area doesn't look as pretty as it does in the photos since there are piles of dirt and half built houses seemingly everywhere. This area is cute, but I think very soon it is going to have a little house or big house choking out anything resembling nature. Maybe I am not a fan of crowded subdivisions, I don't know. So, take that comment with a grain of salt. It is a nice place, cute. We visited for 4 nights in November. The weather was great and we did a LOT of hiking at nearby Starved Rock State Park. My husband would walk our dog in the subdivision in the morning and in the evening. We really just needed a place to sleep and a place that was welcoming to our dog. This place was fine for those things. I think the sleeping problems could be easily fixed by investing in a decent mattress, and maybe a mattress for the pull-out bed.
We love it at Heritage Harbor and will be back. They were great! I had a few small issues and they were all taken care of by the time we returned for the day. Boat rental staff were also great. Love the duck idea!

Heritage Harbor is a new and beautiful addition to Ottawa. Our small cottage was very efficient and lovely. We had a view of the Harbor, and a balcony with a view of the Harbor. It is a delightful place to rent a cottage for any amount of time. There are beautiful new homes being built along the Harbor - looks like a wonderful place to build a permanent home, or a vacation home. The Illinois River is beautiful - almost every home or cottage is facing the river or the harbor. Heritage Harbor is close to Starved Rock State Park - a close attraction. Check-in was easy and efficient. As mentioned before, we had some locking issues. Rich, from the Customer Service team, was very quick, and very helpful to us. He came right over to the cottage, to be sure that we were able to lock the cabin, when we were leaving. We appreciate his help.
