Milazzo, Sicily
Villa Elizabeth is an ancient 1700 mansion that belonged to the great-great-grandfather of the present owner, he was a rich Bourbon whose portrait hangs on the wall of the luxurious hall of the house. From the terrace you may view the entire gulf of Milazzo and the Aeolian Islands which are rather close to the mainland; the terrace is as well a marvellous place where to enjoy a candlelit dinner. The villa is surrounded by a spectacular garden full of ancient trees, it is very shady and cool also in summer. The area is quiet and calm, the ideal place to spend a holiday completely relaxed. At a short distance you will find a narrow road that leads down to a small pebble beach.
The villa has been maintained in its original state with the old floors, chandeliers, vases and pictures that belonged to the family, it has the aspect of an old Sicilian noble abode. The house covers an area of approximately 270 square metres divided in two large sitting-rooms with a fire place and a grand piano, an elegant corridor leads to the three bedrooms, a twin bedroom and two double bedrooms, there are two bathrooms one has a shower and the other a tub. The kitchen, although modest, is fully equipped. The garden that surrounds the house is well kept and it is very pleasant to spend there most of the day. But the main attraction is the terrace with its breathtaking view of the sea and where you can enjoy your evenings by candlelight.
The villa is truly stunning, atmospheric and individual. The owner is lovely and helpful and we were particularly grateful for the meal she cooked for us when we arrived late in the evening. We felt we were in the film set of The Leopard at times, this will give readers the idea what the interior of the villa is like. We also enjoyed the gardens and the view of the sea. We would have loved to have known more about the history of the house and the family, perhaps that would be an interesting addition (in other languages than Italian) to the visitor's book for future guests? Our son is a pianist and the icing on the cake would have been if the piano was in tune. Many thanks for a lovely stay, Elisa.
The place was marvellous and compared to the other one we had the week after outstanding. It was a very nice location to see the islands and the beach was very near. The house is so well built that it needs no A/C at all, even in the hottest summer period.
Thank you for a wonderful stay made possible by your exquisite kindness and hospitality. We greatly appreciate your assistance with locating our lost suitcases and staying home to receive them for us. Sicily is beautiful and so in your villa. We were lucky to spend our week in Sicily surrounded by enchanting gardens, sleeping in beatiful bedrooms, eating breakfast on paradise-like veranda overlooking the sea and most important meeting and relating to such wonderful people as you
