An Affordable Alternative to Expensive Accommodations in Poipu

Super close to two beaches and shopping. The pool was a great way to relax after a long day. The host left chocolates and had island music playing when we checked in. Great little beach house!

I would only recommend that the sofa-bed be changed as it was very noisy.

This condo was older but everything functions as advertised. If you were wanting a brand new condo look elsewhere. Cam the host was very attentive and made sure where has clean linens daily. Easy 10 minute walk to the beach. Everything you need for relaxing on the water chairs, water shoes, you name it. I will definitely y stay here again! I did hesitate when I saw no A/C but it was not needed. Just open the windows and turn on a couple fans!

Please note that this property does not have A/C. Yes, Kauai is fairly cool outside in the breeze but this suite stayed too warm to be comfortable. The absolute worst though was the roach infestation. Yes there will be roaches on the island, particularly around the palm trees, but this property has a more substantial pest problem. I found a roach on my toothbrush the morning we left. I’m not sure how old the pictures on the post are, but there was also a lot of duct tape being used to hold different parts of the property together (i.e. window screens, screen door). Security wise, the front door to the house is left open 24 hrs a day with only a flimsy bedroom lock on the suite door. Overall, there’s no way I would stay here again, it’s way too expensive, and it needs pest control.

We loved our stay here. The location is ideal. Easy walk to the beach, pool and jacuzzi options when the kids are tired of salt water, kitchen. It felt like a beach cabin. We left the windows and a warm wind blew through all day and night. We loved that. The host is fantastic. We can't say enough about this place. I will be recommending this place to anyone I know traveling to Kauai.

Convenient location for beaches, Napali Coast boat trips, and the Waimea Canyon. Comfortable bed. Worked perfect for us.

Wasn’t clear where our third traveler should sleep and it took hours for the owner to respond to our query. Kitchen was good and fan was comfy. Nice and quiet. Probably better for couples.

the host was available and responsive when needed. i booked at the last minute, and was graciously accommodated. the room was as in photos. very clean with all amenities needed for a pleasant visit. you can’t beat the location! I was a resident on Kauai for 10 years, and being in Poipu was a desirable area since it is convenient to restaurants and shopping if that’s of interest for you. I would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again myself in the future.

The ad for accommodations wasn’t accurate. Ad stated full kitchen remodel, there was a hot plate to cook on. The cookware were peeling non stick, with the handles falling off and dirty. Silverware was very crusty and dirty. We had to move hot plate to plug in toaster oven due to no outlets. Stated porch, no porch except entryway stairs. Pictures showed what appeared to be pool and hot tub which when arrived found out it wasn’t on property. Instructions stated pool was 5 minute walk, was 11 minute walk. The ad and pictures didn’t match what was there. We had a nice time in Poipu but felt the VRBO ads were deceiving. Very disappointed.

The room was very welcoming: when we arrived, there was a box of chocolate-covered macadamia nuts, and the TV was playing Hawaiian tunes! The windows were open, letting in fresh breezes and the Blue Hawaii theme carried throughout. Cam had the hallway decorated with photos and information about his mountaineering adventures and was a great source of hiking recommendations when I asked. Probably the biggest perk of our stay was the Ultimate Kauai guidebook that I borrowed from the little library in the hallway; it was a FAR better source of info than the guidebook that I'd brought with us and we ended up taking it with us everywhere we went the whole week we were there!We really appreciated the kitchenette, with the double burner, toaster oven, microwave, and electric kettle providing everything we needed for making breakfasts and dinners, with lunch being on the go. We had placed an online order for Walmart in Lihue while at the airport, with a pickup time for an hour after landing, and it was super convenient to just pick that up and head straight to the vacation rental! Cam thoughtfully provided a small cooler in our suite, and we used that nearly every day to take our lunch or snacks with us on our adventures. He also thoughtfully included walking directions to the beach and most mornings we walked down toward the Hyatt.Only a few things weren't quite up to par, but not enough to drop a star or prevent us from staying there again: we'd be back again in a heartbeat!

Very nice hosts and a great place to stay

We really enjoyed our stay - location was short drive to the poipu beach, restaurants and shopping areas. The host and the people were super helpful, and beach towels, umbrellas and other beach gear were available. We were comfortable with windows open at night and the breeze was nice (we used fans too), and during the day it was warm inside. While our stay was awesome, few things we noted, (1) it’s an older / lived in space - the closet smelled old/ musty, some kitchen stuff like toaster (bit older and rusty) and dish tray (bit dirty looking), (2) I really wished they had some coffee grinds and sugar (though kitchen had couple of small sachets of instant coffee), (3) some beach gears were not in working condition (umbrellas were broken and snorkeling gears weren’t in working condition).

The space/room was very spacious and clean. however some of the utensils were very worn in the kitchen, and furniture /appliance table very worn and some tattered. There was no air-condition (not disclosed) but many windows for breeze. Overall for the price it was acceptable and suited our needs.

Nice property in a nice area. Room is better for a couple but we managed just fine with the pull out couch for all 4 of us.

10/10! We enjoyed our stay in the Blue Hawaii suite. My favorite place we stayed on our 10 day trip. The location is perfect. We walked to Poipu beach park. We loved the community pool too. The jacuzzi was nice after a full day of snorkeling. The place was perfect size for our family of 3. The kitchenette had everything we needed for light meals. The king bed was so comfortable. Thank you for your hospitality!

Good location. If I could afford an extra 100 per night, I would pick a different property. The toilet seems to be leaking so it's wet. The standing fan is partially working.

This was a very nice place to be. It is part of a house but it seems very private. The owners were very friendly . Very nice decor and lots of equipment to use at the beach even snorkeling gear.

If you don't want to pay the high prices of the ritzy places in Poipu area, this is the perfect place. The location is great with walking distance to beaches and hiking trails. The greenway paths are very convenient. The grocery store and lots of restaurants are less than 10 minutes driving distance. This place even has beach chairs and other beach equipment to borrow. You have everything you need to enjoy a wonderful vacation in Kauai.

The place was very accommodating. The check in process was very easy to do simple and clear instructions. Parking was great right there in front of the front door. Thank you. Efficient.

Exactly as described! No surprises, nothing unexpected except for maybe just how amazing the location was! Had everything we needed to create meals and use as our home base while we explored the South side of the island. Owner was kind and responsive. The place is older, but it hasn't hidden that fact in the description. If you are looking for something in this prime location, you can't beat this price. Easy running distance to the heritage trail near shipwreck beach every morning was an extra bonus. Thank you again for having us!

Mom and adult sons found this spot to be great for our needs. The location was quiet, near the beach. The suites are below the main house. Easy walk on groomed path to Shipwreck beach in front of large Hyatt resort. Our host was friendly and helpful. Clean, basic amenities. The fridge wasn’t working but owner gave us a quick alternative. My boys enjoyed lots of beach equipment available to guests. Would stay there again!

This was a perfect location for us as we only needed 2 nights between timeshare resorts. The kitchenette was cute and had adequate supplies for our short stay. The cutlery/knives were sort of a hodgepodge of older items so updating these would be beneficial - especially for any longer stays. I pack my own knives etc. so it wasn't a concern for us. An added bonus was having access to a wide variety of beach chairs/umbrellas, boogie boards, snorkel gear etc. This isn't included in the description or photos so a pleasant surprise. We only used the beach chairs but good to know that other items are available to use. One thing that wasn't totally clear on the listing is that the owner lives on the upper floor of the house. This really wasn't a problem for us and, in fact, it was wonderful to meet him. There's another guest suite on the same level too. Not a problem at all for us but others may not enjoy sharing the backyard/laundry etc. Very clean and beautiful decor! We would definitely stay again!

We, family of 4 with 2 kids, had a great time. We loved the apartment and the pool area. Cam was very friendly and we were able to use the available beach equipment any time. Lovely area and home to spend some time on Kauai. Would defi itely recommend!
