Badajoz, Extremadura
Very special accommodation located in the heart of the Sierra de Tentudía, 900 m high, independent stay, with private bathroom and terrace. Surrounded by oaks, chestnut trees, cork oaks, holm oaks, olive trees and fig trees and with wonderful views towards the west, towards the sunset. It is located in the heart of the Sierra de Tentudía, a unique place to lose yourself and enjoy the authentic rural life and nature.
It was a little hard to find and 4.5km down a narrow windy road with a steep entrance to the properties. Well worth the effort , this is a beautiful setting , the casita is well thought out with very comfortable bed , hob and fridge with a freezer section. We had plenty of hot water and the shower was powerful although there were only two of us and the house could fit a family of four. The owners were friendly and very helpful . The swimming pool area is unusual for U.K. residents as it was clean but had a lot of green algae and frogs but I think this is normal in Spain. It was a delight to sit in the shaded patio area looking at the views and listening to the water running and the frogs. We took our two dogs and they mixed easily with the owners dogs who are very placid. There is no wifi ( or tv ) in the house but you can relax in the large patio area or dining area attached to the main house and use the internet . There is a washing machine and washing line. We stayed in April and temperatures were unusually high at max 29-30*C , the house was always cool and we always slept well. Cabeza la vaca is a charming village with many bars and restaurants, a shop and tabac . This accommodation is perfect for a quiet , relaxing holiday in a beautiful area with stunning views.
