We had 7 adults and 3 kids in our group, and we were very comfortable in this large home. Everyone had their own bedroom (the kids shared) and the main living areas were very nice. The kitchen is very nice and well-equipped, and we also appreciated the huge driveway / parking pad. The only complaints we had were minor - the bathroom on the second floor is attached to a bedroom, so you have to go through the bedroom to get to it (not ideal for the couple in that room), and the third floor stairs are very steep, which was a little scary with our little ones (2 and 5), but even still, they thought the stairs were fun. The A/C is via window units but it was sufficient. The location is pretty good, despite being near a busy road. Overall, it was nearly perfect for our group and we had a great stay. The host is very responsive and helpful. If you have a large group, I would definitely recommend this home!
There are myriad issues with this property that make it avoidable - beginning with a lack of disclosure in the description. Some but not all include: Exterior: Loose asbestos-covered house with a weeded lot that sits 12 feet from a very busy street without a hand railing to get up stairs to the front door that is stained with mold. There is only one ingress/egress to the home, as confirmed by the owner. The house shares a driveway with an abandoned building with blown out windows. Interior: Three floors are “cooled” by one window unit per floor - no conditioning in bedrooms. Three bedrooms on the second floor access a full bathroom through one of the bedrooms. Stairs to the third floor have a very steep rise-and-run that is not useable for small children or elderly. Only a few window blinds of the more than 30 were not broken or in disrepair. All of to which the owner replied, the house is old. As someone who has renovated 14 homes over many years - age is not the issue. I tried to clean some part of the house - dust the living room, empty out the freezer, and clean the downstairs toilet cover and door, and take some of the mold off the front door. We quickly found another home (owner and home were amazing..even though farther away) I left one hour after I arrived, but left my suitcase at the property by accident in the hurry to find another house. I retrieved it hours later (when I noticed it was gone) and for that I was charged one night, about $1700.
