Surfside Beach, Texas
You will love this serene slice of paradise only 120 steps from the sea. Kismet has plenty of room for your whole family to relax! Kismet offers over 1,700 square feet of newly remodeled space on 2 floors. There are 3 bedrooms - all with new furniture, new linens and 40-inch flat-screen TV's, 3 bathrooms, and 2 large living areas (50 inch TV’s), a well-equipped kitchen, and a kitchenette in the second living area.
Of course, WiFi is included, along with Roku streaming for each room.
A large deck surrounds 2 sides of the house and is furnished with charcoal grill, large dining table, outdoor sectional, coffee table, and an additional small pub table. The deck boasts panoramic gulf views and cool gulf breezes. Relax on the large sectional and listen to the waves roll in, as you enjoy your morning coffee or evening cocktail.
The living area features a very comfortable sectional sofa, coffee table, end tables, wood-burning fireplace, and large picture window with a beautiful unobstructed gulf view. There’s nothing between Kismet and the sea except grassland and the beach.
At Kismet, we don’t lug gallons of drinking water up long flights of stairs. Kismet features a whole house water filtration system with an additional reverse osmosis filtration system for drinking water and ice. This is very important on this part of the Gulf, as the public water is well water (non-potable) it is normally recommended that residents and guests drink only bottled water and haul in ice.
The kitchen, with tile countertops, is very well equipped: including a coffeemaker, blender, toaster, glasses, dishes, wine glasses, utensils, brand new pots & pans, waffle maker, grill tools, crab pot, etc. Appliances include a glass stovetop, oven, microwave, stainless steel refrigerator with reverse osmosis filtered water/ice door dispenser and dishwasher.
Upstairs there is a master suite and a second bedroom. The first has a sumptuous king size memory foam bed appointed with luxury linens (including down alternative mattress topper and duvet), large bathroom, plenty of storage space, and a 40" HDTV TV. The second bedroom has an equally lavish queen size bed, a 40" HDTV, and is adjacent to a second full bath.
The ground floor has an additional large living room with a 50" HDTV TV, and 2 days beds that each convert easily to king beds. There is also a kitchenette with a sink, fridge, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker. The large bedroom has a king bed, 40 inch HDTV, dresser, and small sitting area. The downstairs bathroom has a double sink and an attached enclosed indoor/outdoor shower. The ground floor can be accessed either by a spiral staircase indoors, or french doors leading to the outside. This makes Kismet uniquely accessible for your older relatives.
High-quality linens, towels & beach towels are provided at NO ADDITIONAL FEE.

This house is not a safe space for children or seniors. There are so many uneven spaces on both floors and level changes that one can easily break an ankle. This goes for transitions in as well as outside of the house. The lack of safety protection on the outdoor railings to keep children and pets from falling 12 feet below is a major concern. The downstairs could be lovely except that a random step down occurs just before you enter the bathroom and the several transitions that happen inside of the toilet room which feels more like an outhouse inside than outside of the home. Upon arriving, the house we did not believe was really safe and had to contact the owner who was very responsive about a broken window and a railing on the balcony that fell off while we were unpacking the car. They sent someone to tape the broken glass and take away the railing parts very quickly. The reservation was during spring break and there was no where to go other than home so we tried to make the best of our vacation booking. We encountered problems with the televisions. Roku did not work in the home and most of the remotes or sticks were missing. The internet was incredibly slow. You will not be able to make Zoom calls and do more than checking email on your computer or phone. Speed tests showed the speed was less than 5 mpbs even after resetting the remote multiple times. For the amount of money we spent, we did not feel the house was in the shape to warrant the cost which is the reason outside of the things I mentioned above for the overall rating. Beds were comfortable, house was clean outside of random holes, the kitchen was stocked, but the unsafe transitions, extremely slow internet, and the desperate need for upkeep for the home are why we gave this a low review. Most other reviews mention here the wonderful beds and linens. Yes, these were wonderful, but they cannot compensate for the need for safe decking, stairs to the outside, and renovations that are needed inside and outside the home to make it safe for families to stay. If you have a family, I would strongly advise AGAINST booking this listing. The owner needs to complete major renovations and safety updates on this house before it is safe to rent. The person we spoke with is lovely and responsive to all our questions, however, the home needs to be safe first to rent. This is not just a simple paint job on the exterior, but thousands of dollars of updates as mentioned earlier in this review.
We loved everything about our stay...the house, patio with a view, the local restaurants! The beach was clean and so close. We will be back!
We had a great time. Very good dishes in the kitchen. The beds were very comfortable and plenty of room there.
It was extremely clean and inviting. Communication was excellent. Beds are heavenly. I loved everything about that weekend and house except there are several elevation changes inside and outside. Tripping was a huge issue in this house. I recently broke my back in a car accident and this was a real fear for me. The drop going into the bathroom downstairs got me a few times. There is no actual usable shower downstairs either. No working hose bib at foot of stairs to wash sandy bodies or feet. The water pressure fluctuated each time a faucet was opened. So the shower next to kitchen turned excruciatingly hot during my shower. I don’t want to slam the house totally because I know having a house on the beach is tough. Extreme environments wreak havoc on everything. The hose bib just needs a handle. Seems like an easy fix. I loved being with my kids. We had a truly wonderful fun time and nothing could take away from that. Kim is an exceptional owner. She let us have a late check out and added to the special quality of our weekend. I want to thank her for being so sweet and for having such a clean house.
Loved it! Close to water and everything!! Very nice and clean home, felt cozy!
First time to Surfside. The house fit our needs. Great location and view. The porch was great. The house was clean; the bedding great; and sofa comfortable. Some other reviews noted the “dirty” carpet - not sure how you could ever keep a beach house carpet that clean - you’re at the beach. The 3rd “bath “ is unique but so is the entire house. We enjoyed our stay and the amenities. Bryan Beach State Park is a nice place to visit too.
Great location. Manament was great in communicating with is. we enjoyed our time together!! Lots of laughs! Even tho the weather wasn't the best, we made the best out of it! Thank you !!
My dog got hundreds of sand fleas!
We enjoyed our stay. The house is older but it is clean and safe. We enjoyed the deck sofa and listening to waves but wish there a solid cover over it and the grill. There is a nice grassy area behind the house that was perfect for the dogs to do their business, although it is not fenced. We would stay there again. Make plans to go to the fish market and pick up fresh shrimp and fish to cook. There is magnet on the fridge with the location. The beach was clean.
A birthday present for dad from spouse and kids. We enjoyed the stay Plenty of room and felt like home. We found everything we needed.
