Stayed May 28, 2017The castle is beautiful, quiet and calm and comfortable with all necessary mod cons. The grounds and views are to die for! Our hosts Mario and Erminia were fantastic, friendly and helpful and generous. Our stay couldn't have been better. I recommend Pianettoli to everyone.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Our group stayed at Pianetolle in July 2015 and we loved it! This castle was the perfect place for our group of 6 (2 couples with 13 year old daughters) to experience Tuscany and its beauty for a week. We appreciated the warmth and hospitality provided by owners Mario and Erminia and their two dogs. Pianetolle is on the top of a hill right near the walled midieval village of Anghiari and we stayed in the castle building with 4 beautiful bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, along with a kitchen and sitting area. This is not your cookie cutter experience - each room had its own charm and beauty, reflecting the history and feel of the region/area. Since Italy was experiencing a heat wave during the week we visited, we fully appreciated the pool each day. We were only a few minutes drive from Anghiari and we also took day trips to Sansepolcro, Sienna, and Florence (took the train from nearby Arezzo). We also spent time at a favorite cafe on the piazza in Aghiari and spent our Wednesday night eating pizza at Baldacchi on the piazza and enjoyed the music and festivities that night. We also were able to attend a festival on Friday night in Sansepolcro and enjoyed a progressive dinner there. We loved returning to the castle each evening to stargaze and swim. We loved staying at this castle - full of character, history and charm - we would love to return!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Spent a week at Castle of Pianettole, great time for all. Each granddaughter had a bedroom, son and wife a bedroom and my wife and I had one. More food than we could eat in a week was on hand, Thank You Mario. We took day trips to Arezzo, Florence, and Siena. The real treat was the Battle of Anghiari, all the folks dressed in 15th century garb. The run up the hill was so special. If you time it right, you can see both the Paleo and the horse race in Siena. Granddaughter used the pool every day, the last night, Mario and his wife recommended a pizza place in the pines. Great local place, kids running everywhere, I think we were the only tourists in the place. First day, met a guy from England in the market, His name is Barry, what a guy. He gave me the inside scoop on everything he could. Do not miss the Michelin restaurant. Great meal. You will need a car, but worth it. Thank You Mario and Hermine for opening your home, we will not forget your warm hospitality.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Forget Chiantishire - here's your chance to enjoy the real Tuscany, in this quirky castle packed with history. We enjoyed two weeks here with our family - loving the homely feel of the house, the pool and garden, enjoying great family meals, and exploring the neighbourhood. Anghiari was an unexpected gem of a medieval walled village with good restaurants and excellent local shops, while Sansepolcro was packed with interest including the market and the not-to-be-missed Aboca Museum. With an excellent train service from nearby Arezzo, the whole of Tuscany is easily accessible. Mario and Hermine were wonderful hosts and we thoroughly recommend Pianettole. Reached by a winding track up the mountain, access is not for the faint-hearted, but quite manageable and we loved the views. The main bathroom is up a fairly challenging old staircase, so not recommended for anyone with mobility problems.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Wonderful hosts, wonderful location and the ideal place to base yourself for discovering Tuscany all the way from Florence to Montepulciano. I cannot recommend Mario and Hermine more highly, we had a wonderful time at Pianettole and Mario went out of his way to make sure our stay was perfect. We stayed for 8 nights and would come back again in the future. Pianettole was worth it just for the views from the mountain at dawn or dusk.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Everything about our stay was wonderful! Mario and his wife were extremely hospitable, the castle itself was beautiful with the most picturesque view of the Tuscan countryside I've seen outside of postcards, the local town of Anghiari was a joy to explore (go visit Sylvia and Gianni at Da Alighieri, you won't regret it!) and we're already looking forward to visiting again. We would recommend anyone stay here.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Our family of four stayed for 10 days at a very reasonable rate. Mario and his family were welcoming, warm and helpful. We had our privacy when we wanted it and were able to get to know our hosts as the sun set in the evening over this beautiful castle. Accomodations were very clean, bathrooms were modern and sleeping was quiet and comfortable. The area is the perfect jumping off place for touring, wine tasting, exploring. With two teenagers - we found something for everyone in this area. Getting groceries, gas, dinner out etc was very easy. We have told many family and friends about this castle and cannot wait to return. Wouldn't stay anywhere else on our next trip to Italy...

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We first visited Pianettole in the summer of 2008. We were so impressed with the genuine hospitality and what Mario and his family have done with the property that we said if we ever get back to Italy we would definitely return - and so we have. The area offers a never ending list of cool things to do and we have feasted on some of the very best food of our lives. If you are looking for a life-long, truly memorable experience - look no further. Thank you ever so much Mario and Erminia for all the fabulous memories - come see us in Hawaii, we will try to match your great hospitality!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969My husband, son, daughter-in-law and three grandchildren (ages 14,13,9) stayed at this beautiful castle for 1 week. The views from the mountain top were picture postcard quality. Mario and his lovely wife were very helpful in making sure our every need was met. The castle was extremely clean and the pantry was supplied with a day's (or more) groceries. Mario even provided some of his personal olive oil (which was wonderful). The town of Anghiari, which is a five minute drive away, was breathtaking. The castle was centrally located for day trips to any area we wanted to visit in the Tuscany region. We took the train (station 20 minute drive away) to Pisa and Florence. We would definitely stay at this castle again!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Our experience at the castle is something we'll never forget!! The accommodations were extremely clean and very charming. Everything has a feel of the original character of the property, but it had all the modern amenities. The owner and his family were on the property and were available to help us with recommendations or any needs we might have. The view of the valley from the castle was incredible, and the little town of Anghiari was so charming. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a quite retreat with the ability to get to many Tuscan towns very easily. The owners were absolutely wonderful - enjoyed it very much!
