Amazing Grace in Shagbark

The flashlight batteries were dead, the shower heads were low, and the provided spray bottle of “anti-bear” solution was empty. This summarizes the negative comments I could provide, which speaks to the overall positive stay and experience my family had. The fact a light and helpful spray are provided is a plus. The cabin feels secluded, private, and cozy with spacious add-ons like the porch with hot tub, grilling and seating deck, and the separate fire pit. Hot water, A/C, satellite TV, fast internet, billiards and arcade, full kitchen, big master bedroom, and a hillside skyline view left us feeling very happy and satisfied with our stay. Would stay here again and recommend to all.

My wife and I had a great time. Everything was clean. Directions were easy to follow. The space was great for us and our dogs.

We enjoyed our stay at Amazing Grace and Cathy is an excellent host. Our dogs liked the cabin too! The only two negatives I would give is I wish some part of the yard was fenced in, some previous guests did not pick up after their dogs and unfortunately I stepped in dog poop and ruined my shoes. Also, the mattress in the master bedroom was very uncomfortable and needs replacing.

We had a great time at amazing grace! We loved the privacy. Cathy had everything there that you’d need and she was very helpful.

We ariived in the evening time and directions to our cabin was very easy to find. We took along our dog and she enjoyed the enclosed porch and all the room to sniff and do her business. She had plenty of room inside the cabin to find a comfy spot and enjoed looking out the front window. We did not see any bears as we were there xmas week but saw deer and plenty of squirrels. The area is very quiet and peaceful and was an awesome place to enjoy xmas week.

All of the extras - we’ve stayed in cabins before and had to bring/buy everything. Cathy had pump soap, extra paper towel, toilet paper, etc. at the ready.

It was perfect. We enjoyed ourselves. Cathy was quick to get back with you. Would definitely stay again

Cathy was an amazing, attentive and accommodating host! The cabin was perfect for a relaxing weekend away celebrating our anniversary and spending time with our friends. Would definitely love to stay at Amazing Grace again!

Cabin is very nice. Host is very responsive and nice. Need to update directions just a little. Overall it was a very pleasant experience and would certainly rent again from Cathy.

We enjoyed our stay at Amazing Grace cabin. The gated community was quiet and peaceful. The hot tub was a nice way to relax. We took our dogs to the creek at the community center and they enjoyed it. The cabin was spacious and accommodating for us.

We booked the cabin for a long weekend for my family to enjoy some quiet and celebrate my daughter's birthday. We did enjoy our time, but there were a few things we were disappointed in. Quite a few of the drawers in the kitchen were full of mouse droppings. I understand its in the woods, but I would expect the cleaning crew to appropriately clean any droppings up and sanitize ahead of time. And there were quite a bit so I'm guessing it's been a bit since the drawers were checked and cleaned. The listing says the house had a washer and dryer, but it only has a washer. Normally I would just hang dry things outside, but it rained the entire time we were there so that wasnt really an option. The mattresses were pretty worn and not super comfortable and the pillows are flat and worn. We did bring our own pillows and blankets so were able to make it work. The only other issue we had was that instead of enjoying the quiet, we had to hear construction the entire time as they are building a house directly across from where the cabing is located. We also had some issues getting in and out of the driveway as there were times the construction workers were parked blocking the end of the drieway. We did enjoy the coffee maker and coffee pods that were left. The hot tub was nice and is under a covered roof, so we were able to enjoy it even with the weather being less than ideal. The view from the cabin is beautiful and we were able to enjoy seeing some wildlife.

First off I need to thank Cathy for her response, caring and understanding in the mix up there was initially. It made the situation a lot easier because of her patience. We loved where we stayed. The privacy of the cabin and being gated helped us feel comfortable and safe. There were a few issues with the cleaning, like kitchen drawers and hair behind doors ,which I did sweep up. I did purchase a broom , because there wasn't one available, and left it there, which I didn't mind because I wanted to maintain cleanliness. The be view at night was spectacular. Nice cabin overall. Easy check-in and very good communication with the property manager. We appreciated the basket of snacks and water bottles. The view is nice and the distance to Pigeon Forge is an easy drive.A few things in the cabin need attention. The living room blinds are broken and need replacing.The deadbolt on the inside of the front door is loose. We had a hard time getting the locking mechanism to kick in when attempting to lock the door from the outside.The lower heating element in the oven did not work. We tried to bake potatoes, but ended up having to broil them.There were either bugs or mice droppings in one of the lower kitchen drawers. The drip coffee pot needed a good scrubbing before we could use it. We also had to wipe out the refrigerator drawers before we could put our food away.There are only 5 forks in the cutlery drawer. Definately could have used more for a family of four, 2 night stay.I would suggest replacing the salt and pepper shakers (they are very old and almost empty) and also supplying coffee filters. Some people still prefer drip coffee.

My family and I have had MANY vacations in the Smokies. This was one of the best! Would definitely recommend Amazing Grace. It was a wonderful location in the gated community of Shagbark and, man, the VIEW! What a great stay.

We had a great time! My 2 kids (17 & 21) were on spring break from high school & college so the 4 of us stayed in the cabin for the week. Weather was great, snowed in the mountains in Gatlinburg one night, was beautiful! Had a high wind warning a couple days, power went out one night for a few hours but with the generator wasn’t an issue at all! Loved having the gate on the deck so the dog could walk around. The hot tub was awesome! The cabin was clean & had everything we needed, would definitely come back again!

House was private with a great view. Plenty of room and very clean. Great location close enough to town but still nestled out in the mountains. Access was easy and communication was great

We stayed for our 42nd Anniversary and made wonderful memories. will stay again.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Nice secluded cabin up in the hills. A tad bit far from the main drag of Pigeon Forge but it was dog friendly so we could have a worry free stay. Master bath shower needs a shower head extension, as I’m 5’10” and the head was neck level. Made showers a bit difficult.Also could use a dresser in each bedroom or at least more than 3 hangers to put up your clothes. Last night we stayed was extremely windy and a brush fire started about a half a mile away. The power company shut off the power to Shagbark as a precaution and the whole house generator failed several times. so in an abundance of caution we left at 2am and headed home. All in all we had a great stay except for the midnight brush fire lol.

This was the first time that we did not have speed bumps getting into a cabin. Cathy was excellent with communicating directions, how to access cabin and even went above to have a beautiful Christmas tree complete with hand crafted ornaments. Cathy left coffee, water, and local treats for us to enjoy. We just loved the cleanliness of the cabin. The bed was so comfortable. Such an amazing cabin looking forward to returning in the future

Great place for a getaway! Relaxation was my intent and it was totally achieved. I will definitely stay again if I have the opportunity.

We always wanted to stay in a cabin, when I came across the Amazing Grace, it was amazing, the view in the morning and night. Hot tub was amazing! Love the beds, so comfortable . This is a must to stay place!

The cabin is much bigger than the pictures depicted! Adorable and super clean. The whole process was simple and the property manager kept us in the loop with what was going on in the neighborhood.

Driveway up is pretty steep, showed up late and it was dark, no lights were on. The front door handle and code lock were loose and made for a hard entry. My husband tried to use his tools to tighten the handle. House was dusty. Found toys under the furniture, the cleaning crew could do a better job. Mattress in master needs to be replaced, it sloped down on one side. Outside was nice, enjoyed the hot tub and big porch.
