Stayed Jul 28, 2023This place is set up so cute. Wish I would have taken more pics before we had all of our stuff spread out everywhere! The bunk beds were fun and surprisingly comfy! Roomier than expected but a little bit nicer couch or chair to sit in after a long busy day would have been nice. The fire pit area is awesome and we had enough wood for fires for days!!! Love the board games and Boxcar children books! Only two things as a few others mentioned: bathroom is clean and roomy and didn’t mind the short showers but very difficult to wash long hair while having to hold the shower head. There was no garbage can outside as mentioned and we had to go to the store to buy garbage bags since the one tiny wastebasket would not do us much good for 5 days! Otherwise very cute and a fun experience! Wish we had discovered when my kids were smaller but even as teenagers they thought it was cool (well, as cool as teenagers can be expected to think!)

Stayed Jul 19, 2025Nice quiet location. Pet friendly. Easy walk to town and the waterfront. Inside was clean and comfortable. I've always wanted a caboose since I was a kid so this stay was special.

Stayed Jun 27, 2025Fun property in prime location. Ideal for families or a private getaway. Our only real complaint was a glaring lack of hot water which isn't mentioned (that I saw) until we arrived.

Stayed Oct 17, 2024It was a cool experience to stay in the train, the only thing I would change is the shower, small hot water tank so what they call a Navy shower lol (get wet shut water off soap up and then turn water back on to rinse) but I would definitely recommend staying with this host!

Stayed Oct 8, 2024We had a great time staying in the caboose for two nights! The photos look exactly like it does in person. If you rent, just think of it like sleeping in a camper, and bring supplies accordingly. There is one roll of toilet paper provided, and you'll need to bring trash bags, paper towels, etc. The space heater worked well to keep us warm on those 30 degree nights. We took it into the bathroom when having our Navy showers. There is a laundromat 6 minutes away by car, and the Marathon station close by has fire wood and s'mores kits. Groceries and all modern conveniences are close as well as the cute downtown area. Don't forget to go see the SkyBridge!

Stayed Aug 30, 2024We had such a great time visiting Boyne City and staying at the Red Caboose a couple of years ago, I decided to book us for Labor Day weekend this year for a last summer Hurrah! So glad we did. We really enjoy summertime in Boyne City and surrounding area. The Caboose is great fun, well kept, has all we need for the long weekend. Looking forward to returning for a third trip!
