Acorn Lodge, Private Riverfront & Trails, is the ideal vacation rental: it is less expensive for groups of five and more than local hotels. And there's no comparing the comfort and environs. Prices are discounted 10% for January & February rentals.
When you rent Acorn Lodge you get the entire house. You're not sharing it with anyone else. And the posted nightly rate includes all of you. It's not a "per person" cost.
We are restricted by a local ordinance which prevents outside amplified music, meaning anything that goes through speakers. Acoustic music, such as guitars around the campfire, is allowed and encouraged.
There is a surcharge for special events, such as movies being made here, television interviews, chef cooking classes, and more.
Acorn Lodge is a unique, comfortable and beautiful home away from home. We are perfect for family reunions, gatherings, meetings, retreats, conferences for business, crafting, yoga, spiritual, study groups, nature walks, canoeing and kayaking, relaxing by the river, winter walks, and many more. Relax in the serenity, peacefulness, and abundant nature. Enjoy the sauna, jetted tub, pool table, piano, 1-1/2 miles of nature trails through 25 acres of woods leading to the river. There are plenty of benches to sit and observe the trees, plants, and wildlife. Kayak & canoe trips can be arranged. Turn on the fireplace at night.
Small, intimate weddings can be arranged. Again, township restrictions prevent us from having outside music such as bands and DJs. Contact us for more details.
We have discovered that groups are coming here for "Forest Bathing." Amazingly, we found that our natural settings of woods and water are exactly what they've been looking for.
There are two types of forests at Acorn Lodge & Trails: the pine forest and the old growth deciduous forest. Acorn trails wind through both of these, and there are chairs and benches scattered throughout at all times of the year. Acorn Lodge & Trails is perfect for Forest Bathing.
Shinrin-Yoku in Japan translates as “forest bathing.” Actually, it’s more like forest basking. It is an ancient approach where you take the time to reconnect with nature by utilizing the five senses that nature provided you with. No hiking, running, or exercising is necessary. A simple walk among the trees, or an afternoon of sitting on the benches in the forest, is all that’s needed. Forest bathing has recently become a highly successful technique used to improve the health of human beings, both physically and mentally.
There is a scientific explanation for the way trees work their magic. Trees produce oxygen. When you are in the trees you are literally standing among some of the highest oxygen producers on earth. Oxygen has been scientifically proven to be “nature’s antibiotic.” Another fact is the presence in trees of plant chemicals called phytoncides—natural oils that are part of a plant’s defense system against bacteria, insects, and fungi. Surprisingly, these substances have an effect on humans, because people who spend time in forests show documented signs of lower blood pressure, lower heart rate, less stress, and a more relaxed attitude all around.
Note: Acorn Lodge is fully cleaned and disinfected following the departure of all guests. This is standard procedure at Acorn Lodge even when the country is not under national health emergency. We routinely receive guest reviews and compliments on how clean the lodge is.
We are a nature preserve. Listen to the birds, frogs, owls, and gentle breezes through the trees. No hunting or fishing helps protect our woodland friends.
A beautiful river walk takes you through the woods, with plenty of benches to relax.

Bob was very helpful before and during our stay! The property is perfect for a family gathering. We enjoyed the trails, the spacious kitchen, luxury basement with pool table and sauna!
We gathered friends and family from across multiple states to ring in the new year and found Acorn Lodge to be the perfect place to do so at. We enjoyed the beautiful outdoors and indoors and the chance to reconnect with one another. Highly recommend to any deciding where to bring their family in years to come!
5 stars is not enough for this beautiful property! The Acorn Lodge offered everything we needed for a successful Halloween Weekend Retreat. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the serene surroundings and the cozy atmosphere of the cabin. The attention to detail and the thoughtfulness put into every aspect of our stay truly made it a memorable and enjoyable experience. A couple of family members walked the trail for some extra excitement. We are already looking forward to our next visit and the opportunity to experience your hospitality once more.
Acorn Lodge is a beautiful and well kept home. It was a perfect size for our large family. The kids are still talking about the trip!
The 10 of us get together for a long weekend every year, this was a great place for us. Our weather wasn't the best for hiking the trails but we hiked them anyway. The house was wonderfully appointed, with plenty of sleeping space, seating and a well stocked kitchen. Super clean.
The house was exactly how it was pictured in the booking. It was clean, had many amenities, and was perfect location to many stores. We will definitely be returning again!
From the moment we began communicating with Bob and Linda they were kind, pleasant, quick to respond, and so accommodating. Our family of 13 gathered for our annual vacation and this home was the most beautiful and perfectly suited than any other property. To say they thought of everything is an understatement! The house was clean, cool, and Bob and Linda greeted us to give us a tour and show us how to work different areas of the house. The lights, air, sauna to name a few. The grounds were so beautiful- we enjoyed trips to the River house, to see the neighbors horses, and visit the tree house. Thankfully they were thoughtful enough to place bottles of bug spray all along the way, somehow knowing their guest may need it! There is plenty of seating inside and out, has a covered area to grill and a surprising bed swing in a screened porch. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your home, property, and entrusting us to care for it as if it were our home.
The host is terrific! He was extremely helpful during pre-trip planning, and available during the trip. The house and grounds are even better than we expected based on the pictures, just beautiful. House was clean and well stocked. If you're looking for a great get away in a rural area, this is for you!
We stayed there for an adult couples golf weekend. It was perfect.
It was wonderful for a 50th anniversary party for immediate family. Great place to stay.
The property was beautiful house was spacious plenty of room to spread out. Loved the tree house and trails. Fire pit was nice and large to accommodate all. Patio area was large. Swing was a big hit. We did find the kitchen was not as clean as expected. Limited cookware. Overall very nice will. Would come back
Our group was returning here for our second retreat from a nearby university. It was very good for relaxing for the weekend, with great trails, a relaxing sauna, and ample space for board games.

Wonderful get together with family from Pennsylvannia and Colorado. The house and property were great! We had an outdoor scavenger hunt, enjoyed the fire pit, made great meals and played fun games. Bob was a great host! We had a wonderful time!
We found this property to be a very relaxing location for our mid-quarter retreat from school. The nature, sauna, and ample space in the house all provided for a great space to unwind from the stresses of school.
This property is very well set up for a great family get together. Lots of room for a large group. We had 14 people in the house and never felt crowded. Enjoyed the outdoors immensely - fire pit and the trail, especially the camp houses.
The place is peaceful and surrounded by nature with no traffic noise. I have a good experience staying at this beautiful comfortable place. The owners are ones of the nicest people I have ever met.
Our family gathered together in this peaceful and private home to celebrate the life of our beloved mother and grandmother. We couldn't have chosen a better location. Acorn Lodge has plenty of room for a large group and is very well appointed.
We stayed at the acorn lodge in july 2022 and could not have been more pleased! The owners are so sweet and nice and the house itself is amazing. Great place!! I would stay here again.
Stayed here for a family reunion. Property is as described and perfect for a low key gathering. Robert was always quick to respond to any questions and very helpful. River House and tree house are beautiful, relaxing spaces. Lounge seat was soooo comfy. Kids caught fireflies in the yard at night. Highly recommend!
This house and property are the best! Our youngest family member was 18 and the oldeste 86. All 14 of us felt we had been given a gift by being allowed to enjoy this special place.
We came for a family event and the house was perfect for my family (5 people) and my sisters family (5 people). House was as advertised. The surrounding property is really amazing and the hosts have it really well set up to relax and enjoy. Highly recommended.
