Stayed Jun 8, 2026We had a wonderful stay at the Taggart House - what a memorable place! We are five couples who get together every other year and this was the perfect place for us. There are so many things to mention: the feeling of staying in this gracious and historic home; the care with which it has been restored; the ability to accommodate all five couples in lovely, comfortable rooms (with en suites) that pleased us all; the size and usability of the well-stocked kitchen; the gracious dining room that could seat our entire group; the fun (and oft-used) billiards room; the wonderful sun porch that opened up to the beautiful back yard; and the easy proximity to so many of the historic places that the Berkshires has to offer. Well done Caitlin and George!I speak for our group in saying that we would not hesitate to recommend the Taggart House to others planning to visit the area - and we hope to return for another memorable stay.

Stayed May 30, 2026Nine of us college classmates (in our 60s) enjoyed a wonderful week at Taggart House. The location cannot be beat! Literally a few minutes walk to a charming downtown with interesting shops and restaurants. And just a few minutes drive to a stunning and important Trustees of Reservation mansion “Naumkeag.” Plus the Norman Rockwell museum—which is a must-do—is a short drive around the corner. We also loved our proximity to Monument Mountain where we enjoyed a legitimate 3-mile-ish hike. Compared to the four other properties in CT, VA, NY, and ME where we have stayed, we agreed that Taggart House offered the best truly-local activities.

Stayed Nov 26, 2025We were in Stockbridge for the first time for our annual family Thanksgiving and orienteering event. Most stayed at the inn, but some rented the Taggert House as a place where family could easily be together It was perfect and so conveniently located a short and beautiful walk to town. The house is huge, the kitchen is roomy and well-stocked, the beds were comfortable and each bedroom had its own bathroom. The pool table was a big hit. Parking was easy. The owners couldn’t have been nicer or more responsive. I highly recommend the Taggert House and, if your group is extra large, also rent their River House just behind it. Five stars plus. We will be back!

Stayed Aug 8, 2025We had a lovely family reunion at the Taggart House. Check in was easy. George is available for any questions. He provides entry details and further information is conveniently in a printed doc in the house. The house is as beautiful as pictured- the porch was an absolute delight for relaxing…and outside on the big lawn we used the croquet set and even my 87 and 89 year old parents dropped their canes and joined in! Ditto for the big indoor pool table! We cooked in the ample kitchen, as well as ordered in, and went to restaurants as well. The house’s location is perfect - so close to Tanglewood, Naumkeag, the Mount, Norman Rockwell, Shakespeare and Co. There are beautiful walks/jogs from the house (there’s a nice hike and loop in walking distance) and it’s an easy walk to town. The Historic Mission House is directly across the street. I loved the en-suite bathrooms and comfortable mattresses for every room combined with the historic grand old beauty of the house.

Stayed Jun 19, 2025We rented this property as a location for the extended family to base themselves over our daughter's wedding weekend as well as a location for the wedding party to get ready for the event. The house is fabulous -- lots of space, fabulous in many ways. It should have been a fantastic stay as the bones were all there, but there were some problems. The linens in the house -- both towels and bed linens were not clean (or were stained) and not sufficient. One bath towel per person was not enough and there were no spares. There was one roll of toilet paper per bathroom, no tissues, no garbage bags, no dish soap -- generally the house was appointed with only the bare minimum -- insufficient given the way we were using the house and the price point. We ended up using dry cleaning bags to clean up the house before departing. The internet went out while we were trying to get ready for the wedding. We knew it was a circuit breaker issue. We didn't hear back from the owner until after we had all left for the wedding -- she left a message telling us to reset the modem which was not the issue. That night the smoke detectors started beeping. It was a sleepless night for a very tired family. Again, there was a delay in hearing back from the owner -- she reached me once we were checked out and on our way home. Caitlin seems lovely and I am not happy leaving this review, but faster contact and adequate and timely addressing of our concerns would have made this a much more enjoyable stay.

Stayed Jun 14, 2025The Taggart House was a wonderful place to gather with friends and family to celebrate my birthday. The house is beautiful; the rooms are large; kitchen is great; bugs kept us from hanging out in the backyard but the conservatory was light and bright and a perfect spot for cocktails. We loved the proximity to the town of Stockbridge and we would walk back and forth a couple times a day. We had a couple of small issues, and Caitlin was very responsive in answering my questions/concerns. All in all, a really great getaway.

Stayed May 1, 2025The house was absolutely fabulous - even better than the online pictures. We were there for a “sibling/spouse” reunion. There were so many spaces to hang out - huge dining room, porch, living room & bonus was the fire pit. The hosts, Caitlin & George, were delightful and very responsive. The house is beautifully furnished and it is centrally located to several cute artsy towns and nearby attractions. If you’re looking for someplace special, this is the place!!!

Stayed Jan 31, 2025We had an amazing time. We had several out of town guests who stayed at the home and then a birthday party with local guests in the ballroom. The ballroom is absolutely stunning. The chef enjoyed the kitchen. There was plenty of parking and a beautiful setting. I would stay again.

Stayed Oct 17, 2024Beautiful property with all the amenities. Our group of 12 relaxed on the sun porch, played bocce and cornhole in the huge backyard, and enjoyed the town of Stockbridge. The owners suggestion of dinner at Alta was much appreciated as we had a fabulous dinner there.

Stayed Sep 5, 2024The communications with hosts leading up to and during stay was excellent. While we were there, they were very helpful with suggestions and shared with us the history of the property. The house was perfect for our family celebration and all bedrooms were comfortable and inviting. The outside property was well suited to outdoor activities. The location could not have been better. A couple of suggestions for improvement: the lighting in the sunroom and the media room was insufficient. Some amenities could be added such as soap for the showers and tubs, and additional toilet paper. Our overall experience was very positive. We would stay there again and would recommend it to others.
