The house was nice, a bit hot with no air conditioning but ceiling fans helped. The laundry access was not at the house but at the pool area. We had to wait for someone to move their laundry out of the two washers. They left it for over 2 hours in washer. Sharing with entire community (washer) that was a little hard. House had an Ant issue in kitchen. Maintenance staff was very friendly and helpful with this. The property manager tried to tell me that the ants were never there before and must be there because we left food out and had little kids. This was not true we did not leave food out, kept everything clean and put away. The ants got so bad they got into our cereal and we had to through it away. I can't believe as many ants as we had that they showed up just because of us. Especially because we noticed them the first morning we were there. Other than that we did enjoy our stay and the area was peaceful and relaxing.
Enjoyed our time - communication with Host was timely and helpful. The views are amazing!
Wonderful place for our family week getaway. 7 adults and 2 young boys. Perfect fit for all. The porch (view), yard and facilities made this an enjoyable for all of us. Many kudos to the maintenance staff for some quick work of a fallen tree! Would highly recommend this property, olde school big camp on a great lake.
Views were spectacular. Quiet setting. Cleanliness not the best. Not everything was what it was advertised.
We were pleased to find that the house was well represented in the photos. The rooms are huge, and the views of the lake are amazing. The house is old but in good shape, cozy, and perfect for our family gathering. Our daughters and our grandchildren joined us and there was plenty of space and everyone enjoyed it. Beds were comfortable and we provided our own sheets and towels. We appreciated having use of the 2 kayaks and 2 bikes. The on-site staff was very helpful whenever we had questions. We’d do it again!
We had a very nice and relaxing vacation in this house. The house is old (built in late 1800) with spectacular woodwork throughout. It has been well renovated to bring in modern amenities while preserving the original character (no AC, though). The wrap-around porch is the best feature. A small beach is right by the house but at the time of our stay the water edge was choked with stinky muck so we could not swim or fish there. The community has a nice pool but no hiking trails or other active pastime options. The communication with the host was quick and efficient. The only problem was that the property address given to us by the agent took us to someone's house, not to the rental unit which resulted in few unpleasant encounters. Also, the house has beds for 10 people, although the listing says 8. The kitchen needs to be better stocked: knives are dull, coffee mugs are miniscule, and we found only one small cutting board. Apart from these small hiccups, we had a very pleasant stay.
Quit seculed area. Very quiet. Need to travel a distance for attractions. Rochester NY and Niagara Falls. Great vacation spot for a get away from the city life.
This was a wonderful place for a large family to gather, with many options for young and old(er) on the Troutburg property. We especially enjoyed the pool, the sand area, and the large porch.
My husband and I stayed with our two children and friends with two children. House was spacious, clean, beautiful, and the perfect place to spend the week. Plenty of room inside and out on the porch and grounds to not feel on top of each other. Hosts were very attentive to solving small issues that arose quickly (WiFi password was incorrect but immediately solved and the microwave died but was replaced the next day)- they went above and beyond to make sure everything was up and working as it should. Pool was great for the kids, and all of the residents we met there were lovely. Tennis courts are not the greatest surface (asphalt), but are well kept and good for recreational play. View of the lake was gorgeous, and offered up some beautiful sunsets. We also found it to be a good location for day trips into Rochester, the Finger Lakes, and Niagara Falls- we enjoyed splitting the week between relaxing at the house/pool and outings. Also a short ride into Brockport for bigger grocery shopping (Wegmans) and some lovely local shops (Lift Bridge Books!).
The less than 5 stars are a reflection of construction noise near the house, and there was no one there to let us in ,the office was closed the entire week so we had to make a few phone calls. This should be a temporary problem, we still love the house and the lake!
