NOTE: the owner lives upstairs. There is a staircase that connects the upper and lower (your) space) levels of the home. When guests are in the lower level the owner stays upstairs, we ask that guests do not go upstairs, unless invited. The host does occasionally have gatherings up there and welcomes guests to join.

The Neighborhood:

Our home is nestled in a quiet and residential area, offering a peaceful retreat after a day of exploring San Francisco’s vibrant neighborhoods. While slightly removed from the city’s hustle and bustle, the location is well-connected to desirable destinations through convenient public transit options:

• MUNI Metro Access: The nearby MUNI Metro T-Line provides a direct connection to downtown San Francisco, Oracle Park, and the bustling Mission District.

• Bus Connections: Several nearby bus lines, including the 44-O’Shaughnessy and 29-Sunset, make it easy to explore attractions like Golden Gate Park, the Sunset District, and even connect to the city’s famous cable cars.

• BART and Regional Transit: For longer journeys, MUNI connections to nearby BART stations offer regional transit options to the East Bay, Oakland, and SFO Airport.

• Ride-Sharing and Scooters: Ride-share services like Uber and Lyft are readily available, and rentable e-scooters often populate the area for short trips to nearby transit hubs.

• Desirable Destinations: With public transportation, you can easily reach San Francisco hotspots like Fisherman’s Wharf, Union Square, and the iconic Golden Gate Bridge without the hassle of parking or driving in the city.

Parking Advisory:

Parking in San Francisco can be a challenge, and our property does not offer on-site parking. For a stress-free experience, we highly recommend utilizing the city’s extensive public transportation system or ride-sharing services to explore.

Accommodations were spacious. The large dining table and the pool table were really nice to have, and the location was perfect for our needs. Complimentary tea was a nice touch. The owner was friendly and mostly kept to himself. Guests should be aware that the stairway connecting the owner’s living space with the guest living space has NO DOOR. That is NOT stated in the listing. I pointed this out to Hostwell and Kevin emphatically denied this, quoting the listing back to me and stating that this was exactly what it said. Unfortunately, this is simply not true. It stated they are connected, but didn’t mention the lack of a door much less a lock. Hopefully they will amend the listing for future guests. We were also surprised to discover there were push button code locks on the bedroom doors, which was not mentioned in the listing. I did not receive the codes in the check-in information, but had to send a message to Hostwell requesting the codes. They took a little time responding because it was after regular hours, which is understandable, but inconvenient for us and could have been avoided by providing the codes in the first place. Overall, my interactions with Hostwell were frustrating. Their lack of transparency, argumentative attitude and inability to communicate effectively were disappointing.

What a fun castle. The four of us had plenty of room to relax after our fun filled days of exploring SF. The views were spectacular and exploring the backyard was an incredible part of our trip. The neighborhood felt safe and there was a market to get convenience items right down the street. Pier 39 takes about 30 min to get to. Golden Gate Park took about 30 min. Took about an hour to get to the zoo. Lyfts were extremely easy and grubhub delievered excellent Italian food that was closeby.
