3812 Little House - Historic Home, Walk to the Bay

Excellent location, just a 3 minute walk from the path between the Aquarium and Lover's Point. The house was comfortable and provided 4 beds, so no one had to share. Tub showers were a little tricky to get in and out of. But overall, we had a incredible stay. 👍

The house was comfortable, a king sized bed for Tammy and I, and separate beds for our three adult children. Loved having a full kitchen to store food and cook. The only issue was the bathtub/shower situation was little tricky to get in and out of.Plus we needed more toilet paper.Overall, it was the best family vacation we've had in quite some time.

Clean home and convenient location

We walked to the Pacific Grove shore trail (a block away) and to our favorite restaurants (Peppers). The aquarium and local supermarket are just a short 13 minute walk away. There was even a glimpse of the bay from the kitchen and living room!Little House was quite comfortable and clean, and the kitchen has all the items one needs. The upstairs bath and bedroom are very bright and open. Great water pressure, too! :)My only challenge was the bath tubs and shower curtains. It was challenging getting into and out of the vintage tub, and the shower curtains were quite enveloping. The staff was quick to answer any questions, and when the iron broke, they sent a new one the next day. Great support from Sanctuary Vacation rentals. I would stay at Little House again!

Extra coffee filters would have been nice. Had to leave the remaining 200 pack we bought. Can’t use them at home. Somebody will use them. Found the long matches after I improvised to light the BBQ. The house is perfect for a small family and our dog loved the yard. To us it’s in the perfect location. Quiet neighborhood and equal walking distance to downtown Pacific Grove and cannery row. The little park down the street is fun for dogs and easy access to the coastal trail. Wed stay here again and the only two very minor complaints are the worn out “soft” couch cushions and the “cozy” showers in the claw foot tubs. But I guess that’s part of the charm of the house 😉

So close to many wonderful places in the Monterey area. Nice gas firepit and gas grill in the backyard. Would definitely recommend this house!!So many positives about this house. Only one negative which is a super easy fix for the owner: The kitchen is well equipped and stocked with dishware, silverware, appliances, etc. But there are only 4 coffee mugs in this house! There were 6 of us staying here for a siblings reunion. We could not all have coffee together in the morning without someone finishing their coffee, washing the mug, and letting the next person drink their coffee. (after the second day we went out and got ourselves some souvenir mugs so we could all drink coffee together:)So that is my suggestion for improvement for the owner--buy a few more coffee mugs for the house.

Ideal location. Tasteful Decor. Very Clean.We are all 80 and would have appreciated a walk-in shower on at least one floor. So extremely hazardous that we all skipped a shower after 1st night.

Cute house just a few steps to the ocean. It’s older and decorated in the style of that time period. My older daughter declared it her dream house. I am not sure I’d feel comfortable there with little kids (due to risk of them breaking something) but fine with our older kids. It was very clean, housekeeping does a great job. We found most everything we needed on hand. Our few suggestions would be some crisp white, cotton sheets on the master bed, and that mattress is probably nearing the end of its lifespan. Also window coverings that can completely cover the windows would be ideal, both for sleeping and 100% privacy. Overall a great stay, we were sad to leave!

This cute home had all we needed, including a fenced yard for our dogs. We were able to walk to the aquarium and to downtown Pacific Grove. Great location.

Love the neighborhood, the architecture, ocean access and peace

This was our second visit to the little house and we will definitely come again:) It's so cozy and well equipped and I love how easy it is to pop down yo the beach and see all the amazing wildlife!

Staying here for a small girls trip was absolutely wonderful. The property was lovely and beautiful. The short walk to the water was perfect and a short walk to town. Would definitely recommend and stay with this property again! The house is stunning with beautiful architecture on the inside.

The house was perfect for our family and dog. It was spotlessly clean and well stocked for anything you may need. Beds were very comfortable. Some beach chairs and a small cooler would have been appreciated. We loved the character of the home from 1888. I agree with most guests concerning access into the clawfoot tubs but that’s part of the charm. Neighborhood was quiet except for trash day. They sure get started early 🙁. The location made it easy to walk to downtown PG, the coastal trail and Cannery Row. Sanctuary was great the work with and there were no surprises. We’ll be back soon. Highly recommended.

Our family of 6, including in-laws, and 7 and 3 year old, spent a week in Monterey and found the little red house to be a perfect home away from home. We were easy walking distance to fantastic restaurants and shops a few blocks away in Pacific Grove as well as the coastal trail to the aquarium and lover's point, the wharf, ect. Such a great location! The surrounding residential neighborhood was quiet, just a couple of blocks from a great playground and steps from the ocean, perfect for kids and families who want peaceful nights and mornings with the sights and sounds of the sea, not tourists and parties. You can't miss the views of the ocean or the beautiful stained glass in the windows. The back and side garden are fenced, with lovely landscaping and flowers in addition to the fire pit table and grill with ample seating. The kitchen and baths were well stocked with quality supplies like pans and plates/cutlery, towels, etc; we did have to apply dishwashing detergent, however eco friendly laundry soap sheets were a pleasant surprise. Of course having a washer and dryer is such a bonus! The layout and rooms are surprisingly spacious for a small house, and everyone noted good sleep in their comfy beds. The claw foot tubs are deep, and the shower water pressure is excellent with elegant fixtures. Communication was easy and very responsive, and overall the check in and check out process was super easy with zero hassle.

What an adorable house and in a perfect location, half block from the ocean. The house is finished perfectly, tile, hardwood floors, everything fits the house. Every pot, pan, waffle marker, crock pot, knife, plates, plastic cups, wine glasses, mugs is available for you to use. Large refrigerator, toaster oven, keurig were all available. Sheets and towels were nice. Hair dryers in each bathroom, q tips and cotton balls, everything you may have forgotten at home. You can see the water from several windows. Neighborhood was so quiet - only the seagulls made noise my only comment was we asked last minute for a late check out and were told by management company 30 mins would be all they could offer, we accepted. Promptly at check out time someone came to the house ready to start stripping bedding and towels he told us nothing was communicated to him and we need to be more direct with the rental company. We left 5 mins after check out but it was a tad frustrating. House is great, location is great will stay again

It was a wonderful little place, very cozy close to the water, walking distance to restaurants. Very clean, the shower is in a clawfoot tub which I loved but may not be for everyone. I had a very relaxing time celebrating my son’s birthday with a visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and surrounding area.

Our family of 4 stayed in the Little House and loved it! It is so clean and there isn’t a thing the owners/rental company have not thought of to stock on the premises. The bath towels are luxurious, the beds are comfortable and the kitchen is stocked with everything you need, minus spices. We did not do a lot of cooking, so not an issue for our family. The proximity to Lover’s Point, the Aquarium, Cannery Row, Fisherman’s Wharf and the downtown area are why we chose this location and couldn’t be more happy with our pick. We walked everywhere! They even have binoculars you can take to view the sea lions, otters, and birds. Love that they offer all convenience items - hand soap, toulet paper, roll of paper towels, trash bags, dish washing tabs, Trader Joe’s shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. They also offer Ecos laundry sheets, which was a nice bonus. Many reviews mention the bathtubs. I will say, if you are not agile enough to step into the tub, you may want to reconsider this property. We did not have any issues, but for an elderly person, it would likely be impossible to get in and bathe safely. The house is so quaint and we hope to return one day. Rent this home for your visit, you will not be disappointed.

We enjoyed our stay in a clean, and comfortable Victorian home. We enjoyed the wine, crackers, and cheese! Great location walking distance to restaurants, lovers beach, and Monterey Aquarium.

Cute property in great location on a quiet street. Our only complaint was the claw foot tub/showers.
