Stayed Nov 6, 2025I gave a 3 based upon the following; 1. Downstairs bedrooms smelled like sewage when we entered and got slightly better but still smelled when leaving 2. Other cottages smelled as well, like BO mixed with a plug in air freshener 3. Not enough utensils for accommodations 4. Exterior lighting along rear pathway to cottages had bulbs burnt out5. Rear hanging lights had bulbs that were out 6. No firewood provided for exterior fire pits

Stayed Jul 24, 2025The property was perfect for our five families. There were spaces large enough to gather while each family could retreat to their private home. The grounds were beautiful with lots of outdoor spaces and trails to enjoy.

Stayed Jul 16, 2025We had a large crew in Hendersonville for our yearly family vacation. We have never used Vacasa until this trip and honestly we are planning to use it more. We stayed 5 days in this breathe taking house. There was so much room and plenty todo. From the game room, to fishing, jumping the creek in the front or down one of the trails, to sitting by the fire. Everyone of our 18 people had a different part they loved. Also the pictures we were able to get were amazing. If you are looking for a secluded laid back beautiful mountains home this is it.

Stayed Nov 7, 2024The description was very accurate. Communication with host was exceptional, he was quick to respond and very helpful. Our large family enjoyed the space the multiple homes provided.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We really enjoyed having so much room to spread out. This place would be great for multiple families with different cooking needs and schedules as each of the cabins has a kitchen or kitchenette. It honestly felt a bit wasted on us (as we paid for multiple kitchens we didn't use) but I could see how if a small business was hosting an employee retreat or workshop this would be a great place for that. The main house has a decent sized living space, but the dining area is really small, and we were pretty cramped trying to fit the 12 of us around the table. They compensate for this by having a massive outdoor dining area behind the fox den cabin. So, for a large family with kids and elderly relatives the outdoor space wasn't very inviting but for people who are less bonded like coworkers or workshop / retreat attendees it would be awesome. Vacasa was easy to deal with via text but a 10am check out is brutal – and late check out is almost $200 (-no thanks). The property itself – especially the main house is well furnished with sturdy furniture and high-quality chairs couches, curtains, blinds, pillows, blankets & appliances. I am picky about dishes and eating/cooking utensils, and these could have been a bit better organized. We found bowls and plates in multiple locations in the same kitchen which made for hectic dinner prep. The primary suite in the main house was beautifully staged and the laundry room is big, and the washer and dryer are top notch. The individual cabins could use a bit of updating – especially the mattresses. The absolute charm of this place lies in the nature of the property grounds. If you want to get away from the hustle this is an incredible sanctuary. The Willows Retreat is very close to Hendersonville but feels like 100 miles away. The trails are well maintained and signed – my 81-year-old father-in-law was able to get all the way to the end and back with no problem. I tried to walk down the creek bed with my 5-year-old but sadly there was a lot of broken glass and other trash in the water. My family loved skipping rocks in the pond out front. We were there in August, so the water level was rather low- not a fishing spot but still pretty. The firepit shelter is a great additional space with excellent lighting. It made for a wonderful after dinner destination for smores with the kids. My favorite part of the property was the lovely waterfall right outside the door of the main house – you can hear it perfectly from the house and sitting next to it while the kids played in the creek bed was heaven.

Stayed Jul 21, 2024The main house was great. It had all the supplies we needed. The creek was nice as we had grandchildren who played in it everyday. We had room for volley ball and corn hole. There were 15 of us so it was nice having the additional homes on the property. The pond was not as expected but we did manage to catch a couple of fish. The retreat is within 30 minutes of many attractions, i.e., Sliding Rock, Looking Glass Falls, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, Ashville, Dupont State Forrest, etc. We went tubing and skiing/water boarding at Lake Lure. This was great. There are many, many places to hike. There were a few issues with the smaller facilities on the property but not so much that it was uncomfortable. It was a great get-away for the family
