This was a very interesting house. I agree with some of the other reviewers that the pictures do not accurately show the state of the home...it does definitely come across as a combination of an antique store and a plant nursery. There is an insane amount of 'antiques' and unique items that are literally everywhere in the home. That being said, the house was pretty clean, in close proximity to Sunday River, and an incredible value. Had a chance to speak with the owner while we were there, he seemed like a genuinely nice guy and was very hospitable. Overall, as long as you understand that there is a LOT more 'stuff' in the home than the pictures portray, then it is a fine place to stay. We agreed that we would return again in the future, the next time we find ourselves going to Sunday River.
Great location to enjoy skiing at Sunday River. Some fun local spots in Bethel and Newry are just a short drive as well. The Butcher Burger is amazing! Our host, Seth, was beyond helpful and attentive the entire time. We had a great time.
Great spot for a large group to enjoy Sunday River and all the fun spots around Bethel and Newry. Seth is an excellent and attentive host.
Location was perfect, right in the middle of Black Mountain and Sunday River. House was clean upon arrival and owner was very accommodating!
It was great, so nice and comfy love the nature around me and the views and it’s cool to just get away and relax in this Country Home, hear a lot of wild life and see deers here and there if you take drives. House is Not close to peoples houses so it’s great. Just good vibes. Xoxo.
This farmhouse is a great place to cook and enjoy drinks in the kitchen with family and friends- it has all the stuff to cook whatever meals. There are a lot of beautiful plants inside and board games for fun. It offers a convenient location if you plan to ski at Sunday River. You can also enjoy floating down the river and nearby hiking trails in the summertime. The pond behind the farmhouse has friendly mallard ducks :) If you like nature, simple living or ski in the winter time, this farmhouse is a great place to stay!
A big group of family and friends gathered at this beautiful old farmhouse for spring skiing a concerts at Sunday River. The place was very warm and cozy and great for making dinners and drinks. The bedrooms were classic with quilts and warm blankets. We made fires in the wood stove and the gas fireplace in the living room/kitchen is great also. The host was available and welcomed us. Very helpful about local events, restaurants, and hiking. There are world-class hikes for miles of this house, as well as the Appalachian Trail and Grafton Notch State Park. A firepit was great for making s'mores and enjoying spring nights with beverages and music. There is only really a neighbor across the street and he is very nice. We also used the gas grill and hung out on the new porch that was just built. A great experience. We will definitely be back and tell our friends!
This was a disaster from the get-go. House was cold, towels were small and threadbare. No blinds on windows. One set of sheets was dirty and one blanket was moldy, I kid you not. When one of the sofa beds was pulled open, there were mouse turds on the sheets. Bunk bed was rickety and unsafe for our little kids to sleep on. Stove has only 2 working burners. Recyclables had not been emptied from the previous renters. Owner gave me the incorrect combination for the front door locks. We wound up leaving the door open. Garbage and trash left in hallway and side porch. Both bathroom doors did not lock. Main floor bathroom door knob was loose . Lighting is terrible, 2 bulbs missing in living room chandelier. Dishwasher and clothes washer did not work properly. Not enough dishes or silverware for 15 people. Owners things were all over the place. But the worst things was that when I went to use the crock pot it had fermenting marijuana in it. I refused to clean or use it. In addition we found several bags of marijuana as well as multiple liquor bottles. We had little kids with us. Not a great thing for them to see. The pictures on the listing make the house look attractive and inviting, but I assure, it is not. I took multiple pictures if you want to see them. I recommend that you take this listing off your site.
