Welcome to The Riviere Skoolie, a rare lakefront glamping retreat designed for couples and adventurous travelers who want more than a typical stay. Set where Lake Granbury meets the Brazos River and Long Creek, this beautifully converted school bus offers an intimate, design-forward escape surrounded by water, wildlife, and wide-open skies.

This is not ordinary camping — it’s elevated glamping. The skoolie is fully climate-controlled and thoughtfully equipped for comfort, while the experience centers around outdoor living: quiet mornings by the water, kayaking along the shoreline, evenings around the firepit, and stargazing under expansive Texas skies.

Inside, the space is cozy, creative, and intentional, featuring a comfortable sleeping area, kitchenette, WiFi, and smart TV. Just steps away, a private outdoor bathroom with a hot rain shower and residential-style toilet adds a memorable, spa-like element to the stay.

Designed with romance and simplicity in mind, The Riviere Skoolie is ideal for couples, solo creatives, and adventure-minded guests. While it can accommodate a small family, the experience is best suited for those seeking connection, calm, and something delightfully unexpected.

Amazing place. Was great just before our son started Kindergarten. Every day he said it was the best day ever. Never felt crammed with 4 of us. Shower and bathroom area are huge. Tall fences for privacy and magnet shades to block out sun or make it more private. Kayaks are great we also brought a blow up paddleboard. Water was only about 2-3’ deep most of the creek area we explored. So kids could hop out and swim around comfortably. We explored the creek up to the Brazos, went to Big Rocks in Glen Rose, cooked most our meals on the grill and grill burner when we didn’t eat out, although there is a hot plate and some cooking appliances inside. Didn’t have an issue with ants. Saw some by kayaks but no problems. Flies in August were a lot as expected. Might bring bug salt gun or electric swatter next time. Two other properties next to this are by same owners and can be all rented together for large events. The kids already want to go back. So I’m sure we will be there again.

This was a great place to stay in addition to the main house next door. The beds were comfortable and the bus was a hit. The outdoor bath was a huge hit. Fun place to stay.

My family lives in Granbury and we decided to have a fun staycation weekend in town. We enjoyed our stay here and absolutely loved the perfect spot by the water. What you see in the pictures is exactly what you get. Awesome place, beautiful scenery, and very convenient to town. Perfect place for those who enjoy the glamping lifestyle! We will stay again at some point!

I had three boys with me and we intended to keep things simple - bbq, fish, fire, and kayak. We had everything we needed and our host was responsive and lovely. Can’t wait to come back.

Brought my boys for a quick getaway before school started. They loved staying on a bus, kayaking and fishing, and showering outside. Everything was clean and well thought out. Host was very helpful and responded quickly to questions. Will definitely recommend!

My husband and I loved our stay here! It was so unique, very clean, and so comfortable. The bus is well stocked with everything, the beds are soft, and the bathroom was very nice. Lots of bugs, but that’s to be expected and they weren’t crazy. My only note is that I wish there was more separation between the other rental properties. Window covers were provided, but the area was blocked off by a short wall and people at the property next to us often were close. It didn’t feel private. Other than that, it was amazing!

The bus was the perfect size for my 4 day personal retreat. Very creatively and beautifully appointed. The location is amazing and the serene treed lot beside the lake was perfect for resetting and rejuvenation. The outdoor shower and baths room was secure and a nice experience. They have everything you need. The WiFi was strong so I could easily work remotely. I will be back.

My 7 year old daughter and I loved our stay. It was just what we needed to get away from our busy lives. We were tech free for most of the trip so the bus brought out lots of creative ways to interact. We played bus driver and passenger. The games inside and out of the bus were a plus! Uno is my fav! The bus had many amenities. We loved kayaking and sitting on the patio in the evening. Not to mention the gorgeous fruit trees on the property. The outdoor bathroom was fun and outdoorsy. This was definitely a great place to stay!

This was a very peaceful, laid back place to stay. The access to the lake is at the end of a canal. Therefore, boats are not in the area and do not disturb floating/swimming/kayaking in the lake. The rest of the property was clean and well kept. The outdoor bathroom was nice and the shower was amazing! The bus was so cute. The close-quarter living was fun! The queen bed was extremely comfortable. There was plenty of room to sit for relaxing, watching tv or eating. All the appliances you could need for cooking and grilling are provided. I did make food ahead of time and warmed it in the microwave, so I didn’t have to cook much. The air conditioner kept the bus cool even in these hot July temps in Texas. We would definitely stay here again!
