We found the boathouse to be a haven of relaxation and beauty. The high ceilings, lovely furnishings and views made for our stay to be just wonderful. Our host, Arnet is thoughtful and helpful, quick to respond and like the boathouse; charming.

The Boat House is in a perfect location with a lovely view of the Piscataqua River. It is a short walk to the Memorial bridge and over to Portsmouth NH, as well as to downtown Kittery. Also walkable to small food market. Many choices for eating out or picking up take out. Colorful sunset skies in March and beautiful night views of Portsmouth NH across the river. Looking forward to staying their again soon.

Arnet’s place was peaceful, spacious, and comfortable with a lovely water view. With tasteful furnishings and inspiring art, this spot is a 10-15 minute walk to excellent restaurants and bakeries in Kittery plus downtown Portsmouth right across the bridge. We had thought we might go into Portland or even Boston for a day but found so much to do nearby that we didn’t bother. It was a wonderful week!

What a wonderful gem. My husband and I have stayed at Arnet's beautiful Boathouse for three consecutive summers and we returned for a fourth time this year for a long weekend. The place has everything you can ask for: beautiful harbour/river views, excellent accommodations, and a gracious and helpful host. We love being able to walk across the bridge to downtown Portsmouth for restaurants and entertainment (our favourite thing to do is go to Flatbread Pizza for supper then stroll through Prescott Park). The surrounding area is beautiful and the Kittery location is so close to everything. We have gone shopping, visited the beaches, gone golfing, visited historic sites, etc. We are looking forward to our next vacation at Arnet's!

What a lovely surprise! This spacious walk up apartment has a great location and a view of the Portsmouth/Kittery harbor. The sunrises were spectacular. We were in walking distance of Portsmouth and several nice eating establishments in Kittery. The living space was beautifully furnished, quiet and comfortable and had all we needed for a weeks comfort. The only reason we don't give it 5 stars is the lack of a traditional oven and range. However every small electrical cooking appliance you might need is stocked. Personally I did not miss the oven! We hope to stay again on our next trip. Thank you Arnet for your hospitality.

Arriving just in time to usher in 2015, we felt downright privileged to have stumbled on this very classy riverside walk up overlooking the Portsmouth, NH skyline. Facing south, this apartment is filled with sunlight from dawn to dusk, one of the factors that make it feel so much more spacious that the pictures suggest. We enjoyed the paradox of hanging out in a quiet neighborhood that, at the same time, allowed us easy walking access to downtown Kittery or even Portsmouth via the pedestrian friendly Memorial Bridge. We wound up relieved that the pad isn't designed for overnight guests as we were besieged all month by curious, seacoast loving day trippers! Like previous guests, we rapidly learned to make the rudimentary kitchen work, in part by becoming regulars at gourmet alley up the street which offers up a groundswell of take home meals to die for. In addition, the local restaurant scene rocks. We easily day tripped to Boston and, when we return, plan to hop Amtrak's Downeaster in nearby Durham, NH for a day in Portland. Our friendly landlord met us on arrival, gave us a tour of the place, was easily available by phone for problems or questions, but otherwise respected our privacy and kept a low profile. In a nutshell, we had a ball in this spot in the dead of winter and can only imagine what it must be like in season. We are already signed up for next year!………..The Smiths

Have you ever stayed at a vacation property you never wanted to leave? The boathouse in Kittery, Maine, is that perfect place. The spacious ambiance, cook tech savy essentials, convenient location to Portsmouth, Kittery malls, Maine points north, and local foodie favorites minutes away all contribute to the 5 star rating. The property owner greeted us upon arrival with a quick overview of the tastefully appointed and well-maintained property. By far the high point of this rental is the location and views one marvels at from almost every window. The ever-evolving scenes of Portsmouth Harbor and the tides make it worth eating in. We cooked dinners nightly during our week stay, savoring local bakery, seafood, fruit, and sides; a synergy of choices just up the road including Beach Pea, Seaport Fish, and Terra Cotta Pasta Co., to mention just a few. If one is not up to cooking while on vacation, there are dozens of restaurants nearby. Some of our favorites include Jumpin' Jay's Fish Cafe, The Friendly Toast, and Geno's Chowder in Portsmouth, NH, and Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier and The Maine Diner in Kittery and Wells, respectively. Attractions we frequented include Ogunquit and Portland and their museums of art, Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, Stonewall Kitchen in York, and antiquing, restaurants, and shops in between. We can't wait to return to this perfect place.
