Hawick, Scottish Borders
Reopened following extensive renovations, the Wisp Retreat offers unique and comfortable accommodations for large groups such as walkers, cyclists, nature lovers, businesses and wellness retreats. In keeping with its unique heritage, the house has a lovely bar area, the Wisp Club, with plenty of comfortable seating, two further seating areas, a quiet reading room, a large dining room that can easily be changed for meetings conferences, table tennis and other exercises, and a gym. It is a house that ensures that you can all be together, but also enjoy moments of quiet and privacy in comfort.
The bedrooms are spread between the house and the cabins, with 4 en-suite doubles in the house, a further 8 doubles en-suite in the cabins in the grounds, and 2 further cabin suites with bedroom, bathroom and sitting room. All have double beds suitable for single or double occupancy. Much of the furniture in the bedrooms is upcycled and hand painted, which together with the decor and other soft furnishings provides a unique and quirky decor as well as comfort. In addition, there is a bunk room in the house with 3 built in bunks and two shower rooms. This is optional and will be locked if not required.
Set in a rural location, but accessible easily from the A7, The Wisp Retreat is a great place to get away from it all. There are several walks to be taken straight from the house, and many more further afield such as the Borders Abbey Way and Hadrian's Wall. The local area is steeped in history with Hermitage Castle, Abbotsford, Jedburgh Abbey and others all within an hour's drive from the house. Samye Ling Buddhist Monastery is well worth a visit as well as Hadrian's Wall and the Kielder Observatory. The town of Langholm is 11 miles south, while Hawick is 13 miles north and both offer shops, cafes and supermarkets.
