Garden Valley, the gateway to an authentic Central Idaho Mountains adventure. Garden Valley is surrounded in all directions by mountain peaks, some over 7,000 feet. Two river systems carve valleys covered in the lush green of summer growth along with wildlife, stock and horses. In 1934 a new post office established the identity of Crouch, now one of the commercial districts for Garden Valley. The town was named after Billy Crouch, a miner who homesteaded near the confluence of the Middle and South Fork Rivers. In the 1920s, Crouch donated property for a new community hall in Garden Valley.

We brought 30 women up to Garden Valley for a women's church retreat and are so thrilled that we did! Before the event, they were friendly and quick with their communications. I could easily access the information that I needed, and there were no surprises when we arrived. The video walk-through was helpful in anticipating what the weekend would look like. During the event, the hosts were kind and helpful. Every corner of each building is clean, tidy, and thoughtful. Every aspect was comfortable, from the beds to the air temperature. The TV and internet setup enabled smooth, beautiful presentations during our event. The kitchen allowed our caterers to serve us incredible meals. You could fit someone in every bed and still feel refreshed. We are big fans and can't wait to come back!

We loved our visit to River Canyon Retreat! Greg and Cheryl are incredibly accommodating, and the location is absolutely beautiful. The property has plenty of space for both small and large groups, which makes it perfect for gatherings of any size. We highly recommend River Canyon Retreat and can’t wait to come back.

The venue was great to let kids play in the gym and game room (which they loved) while also providing a very comfortable place for adults to talk and a kitchen to make it easy to feed everyone.

This place handles a group well without a lot of fuss. We have been here winter and summer and it's always fun with lots to do. It is a little confusing about the bedding if its furnished or not. I wish they would furnish bedding for everything or nothing. The gym entertains all ages and is a big plus, especially in cold weather. Hope to return someday.

We brought 28 high school students to River Canyon for a leadership retreat. This venue was perfect for our needs. The meeting room was perfect for our learning sessions and speaker, and there were lots of activities to keep the students busy during free time. The hosts were available and helpful. We will book with them again next year if it works out.

So many compliments about the retreat from family members. We had a group of just under 50 people and there were so many things to do that every age group from toddler to senior was impressed.

Booking a spot for nearly 40 people, our goal was to find an inclusive venue with shared spaces that offered time together. Over the last several years, as our group has grown, individual cabins and RV's have been getting more and more spread out, with less congregate spaces for everyone to be. The result, everyone is scattered, and outdoor dinner time was the key time when everyone was in one area. The River Canyon Retreat offers the ideal space for people looking to house a large number of people, feed those people and have ample room in the lodge for lounging and conversation. Not to mention the gym, which was a big hit for adults and kids. The blow up houses (we didn't think we'd use) were the unsung hero for the kids. The climbing wall was great for the teenagers, and the basketball court was amazing for us old guys who haven't played in a while, to dust off that jump shot! Our biggest concern when we arrived was how remote it was. Planning food each night for our group isn't insignificant, and because we have assigned groups to provide food for the rest of the family, planning often happens after arrival. The store in town was AMAZING. We all were blown away at the selection, and while prices weren't cheap, they weren't unreasonable either. We had great meals, from a store just a few miles away. In town was amazing too. The restaurants and coffee shops cater to the transient nature of the people who visit. We found EVERYONE to be very nice, warm and inviting everywhere we went. Greg and Cheryl run the River Canyon Ranch, and if we needed temperature raised, paper towels, or just about anything, they were on it at a moments notice. They run a tight ship there, which felt highly structured (where and how to park, the fact thermostats weren't something we adjusted, mandatory walkthrough prior to the rest of our group arriving, and the cleanup schedule), but we completely get the need for organization and coordination for a large venue, that is used to seeing groups much larger than ours. We were glad to have the walkthrough, cleanup was a breeze at the end, and we actually ended up leaving a bit earlier than our 11AM checkout. Come an enjoy this amazing venue. I was thinking about how amazing it would have been to find a place like this for a summer basketball camp back in the day!!

The property was close to many excursions and has so many amenities that we (64 of us- ages 2-86) NEVER lacked for things to do. Greg and Sheryl were the best hosts in explaining the functions of the camp and helping us have all we needed for a great time. The kitchen was stocked well. If there was an issue - I’d say the knives need sharpening or need to be replaced. Great place. Clean! Reasonably priced. Thanks for a wonderful weekend!

We had 74 people (ranging from 6 months to 79 years old) at RCR for our family reunion and we all fit! After 5 nights we could have all stayed longer. The gym is amazing and used every minute of the day. The kitchen can actually support cooking for a large crowd. It's amazing to find a place so user friendly, in a beautiful location with the nicest onsite property managers ever! I do believe having some kind of cancelation policy would be a good idea and a good business move. I can't think of another rental property that doesn't have one in place. But all in all, we have loved all 3 of our stays at RCR!

Our family, about 75 of us, had a great and wonderful time at the River Canyon Retreat! The facility was excellent! It has soooo many things to do onsite! A shooting range was about 5 minutes away and was free! A golf course was about 15 minutes away and was quite nice! We took advantage of almost all of the facilities amenities. Greg and Cheryl were very helpful and kind. It didn't bother them that we asked for help from them a few times. They were extremely pleasant and helpful. We would stay at the RCR again! Thank you so much!

We have never been to a place that met our needs like the River Canyon Retreat. The sleeping arrangement fit very well for what we had to deal with. Easy check and check out. Plenty of activities for the kids and adults to participate in. Local activities helped as well. This facility is very well equipped to fit the needs of most family or group gatherings. The kitchen was very easy to use and was well equipped with the pots and pans for our variety of cooking needs,

We hosted our wedding at RCR for about 60 guests. Some stayed on site, some opted for hotels nearby. Regardless, everyone had a fantastic time. During the day we had our ceremony, guests played bags, fished in the pond, took walks around the property. For our reception we held it in the gym. Our DJ found the stage to be perfect for his set up and the gym floor doubled as our dance floor. Come night time guests hopped in the hot tub and chatted by the picnic tables. It was everything we could have hoped for. I would recommend RCR to anyone and everyone looking for a nice get away with friends and family!

We’ve used this facility multiple times for church retreats. This time our men enjoyed the weekend at River Canyon. We love that the facility offers a lot of space, comfortable beds, amazing wildlife (elk and deer), all nestled in the mountains an hour from Boise. The commercial kitchen is equipped well and allows for groups to manage food on their own. Large walk in refrigerator, ample food prep surfaces, multiple ovens, and all of the prep, cooking, and cleaning tools/equipment any group might need. The game room hosted multiple ping-pong battles and billiards tournaments. The equipped gym left our men exhausted but happy following indoor volleyball and basketball. The climbing wall was great as well with our members trained by staff to operate it. The River Canyon staff was attentive and communicative while remaining appropriately out of the way. We love our time. Thank you

Incredible Winter Camp Experience! We had an amazing time at River Canyon Retreat for our winter camp! The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, with snow-covered landscapes that made for a perfect winter retreat. The accommodations were top-notch—comfortable, clean, and well-equipped for our group. The staff was welcoming and made sure everything ran smoothly. From the beautiful surroundings to the cozy atmosphere, it was the ideal place to connect, grow, and enjoy the season. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and look forward to coming back! Highly recommend for any group looking for a peaceful and inspiring retreat.

I have been so impressed (and thankful) for the River Canyon Retreat Center. The staff is wonderful and has always been accommodating to our needs. Everything was clean and ready for us to come right in and begin our weekend! Cheryl worked with our caterer to ensure he could get on property and prep for our first meal. I would highly recommend this location for any function you have planned. Just a few minutes away from downtown Crouch--a special little town!

We loved this venue for our work retreat. There were plenty of spaces for folks to gather. We had people of many ages and abilities and found it easy to navigate the property. We could have easily spent a few more days exploring all that the grounds and nearby surroundings have to offer!

Our family is still talking about the amazing time they had at River Canyon Retreat. Last night our 17 yr old grandson said he loved how there was always something to do, our 13 yr old granddaughter said, “you think bounce houses are only for little kids, but we were on the slide practically 24/7 and loved it!” All the mom’s loved the kitchen and being able to comfortably seat all 51 of us in the lodge living room for Grandpa’s family time. The dining room was wonderful with seating for everyone, fantastic area for afternoon crafts, and a favorite place for late night card games. The teenagers loved hanging out in the hot tub & the game room in the late evenings. There was something for everyone all at the same time, which is amazing for a group of 50+.The guys played basketball, another group playing pickleball, and mom’s & dad’s doing the rock climbing wall with their children, all at the same time.. It will go down in our families memories as one of the very best family reunions.

We stayed at River Canyon Retreat July 15th through July 18, 2024. We have our family reunion with our children, grandchildren, and great-children, and started it celebrating our 59th wedding anniversary. We have a large variety of ages and River Canyon Retreat is perfect for all of their activities and interests, from playing Volleyball and Basketball in the gym, to the bounce houses for the children. We have great chefs in our family and they enjoy the wonderful kitchen and food storage facilities. This was our second time staying here, and it was just as fun as the first time. We would highly recommend it to any large group.
