This is a very practical option for short trips to NYC. The place is plain but convenient to Journal Square's PATH Station into Midtown Manhattan. On this particular Thursday night we saved 200 to 300 dollars over the Manhattan high season prices. Very nice and cooperative host. Good budget option.

Magnolia House was an exceptionally convenient place to stay. Not only did it offer parking at a reasonable fee, but it was also just a short walk to the PATH train to NYC. Dee was extremely responsive and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Just a 3 minute walk to the PATH - Journal Station which is about a 25 min ride to lower Manhattan. House is cute, we just got a one bed with a small private shower. Water bottles in the mini fridge & having a microwave were a nice touch. Never saw or heard anyone else in the building & felt safe at night! Back yard has some seating that was a nice touch. Parking is limited here. Had to walk a couple blocks, which sucks with bags. The mattress is good quality, but firm and pillows flat. I'd also recommend better towels. Overall, we'd stay again, we'd just bring our pillows from home.

The room was freezing. There was cold air coming in the window through the air conditioner. As a result, the room was unbearably cold. There was also cold air coming through the window in the bathroom, making it cold in the bathroom also. Also, I wasn’t aware that there wouldn’t be a tv in the room. It was too cold to be outside, and with no tv in the room, there wasn’t anything for us to do. And, the mattress was hard as a brick. Both my fiancé and I both have medical conditions, and the mattress was very uncomfortable. We couldn’t get comfortable, and, between the bitter cold and the uncomfortable mattress, we couldn’t sleep. As a result, we couldn’t stay the entire time and ended our reservation early. We left after the first night and didn’t stay the second night

Perfect distance from Journal Square and was easy to access. It was perfect for our visit to NYC. Host explained everything simply and the room was clean and the perfect temperature. Great to walk right past Dunkin on the way to PATH

The property is very centrally located with great access to shopping and 2 min walk to Journal Square station. It was clean but lacked very basic amenities such as disposable plates, bowls, iron, to night light/stand, TV. Half the ceiling light bulbs were not working. The towels were clean but frayed and old. Very basic accommodation. Definitely would not recommend.

The location was good and close to the train but the place itself left something to be desired. Small room, no kitchen, small windows, cheap mattress. But everything I needed was there, plenty of hot water, large enough bed. A lot of closed businesses in the neighborhood. I wanted to do laundry but needed to shell out a minimum of 10 on the laundry card- the machine do not take coins or bills. That was a hassle.

This is the perfect place for a quick stay during a work week in the area. Grateful for the cleanliness, easy check in, communication from the host and overall location.

I am a travel nurse who hasn’t found a place to stay more permanently yet and this place has been my favorite it of all my temporary stays so far. Clean, comfortable and exactly what I need.
