In 1873, Colonel John G. Cullmann and a small group of families arrived in an unsettled wilderness in northern Alabama. Over the next twenty years, that wilderness would grow into a thriving town, and Col. Cullmann would help bring over 100,000 immigrants to the United States.

The Frankweiler Suite pays tribute to Col. Cullmann’s birthplace of Frankweiler, Germany (also modern-day Cullman’s sister city).

This breathtaking suite features a luxury king bed, high speedinternet, 65 inch-television, and a separate living area in addition to the sleeping quarters. Your private balcony invites you to enjoy a relaxing small town evening, and art and photographs throughout the suite highlight the City of Cullman’s rich German heritage.

In the living space, guests can enjoy a 75-inch television, comfy sofa and plush chairs, and Marshall Bluetooth speaker. While the famous Rumor’s Deli is right next door, the suite is also equipped with a cozy minibar space, complete with a Nespresso coffee/espresso machine, refrigerator, and freezer.

The suite’s spacious bathroom provides a refreshing zero-entry shower and is fully equipped with a Dyson hairdryer, luxury toiletries by D.S. and Durga, and luxurious Red Land Cotton towels, crafted in Alabama.

In the common areas of the hotel, enjoy the fully stocked library with record player and vintage vinyl records. From the library, step outside into the tranquil patio space complete with cozy chairs and a luxury firepit.

The Flying Fifty Hotel is on a mission to showcase the beauty of our history, the character of our community, and the strength of the individuals that make Alabama our Sweet Home.

To live out that mission, we work with local companies to provide products made in Cullman and surrounding Alabama areas including DreamFit sheets, Red Land Cotton towels, Blue Springs Living Water, and Beautyrest mattresses.

Each suite in the hotel has been individually designed to represent important historical moments, places, and figures.

We are excited to welcome you to experience our hometown for yourself.

We decided to stay in Cullman and visit the Christkindl Market. We are so glad we chose to stay here! The location was perfect. We loved our room and all the amenities available in the building. It is decorated beautifully too!
