Stayed Feb 16, 2019The Vidanta property has an extremely large foot print; several towers of accommodations. The property is beautifully landscaped and well cared for. The staff helpful, polite, pleasent, cleanly dressed and keep the facilities clean. There are several pools but as it is mostly time shared you have to have the correct bracelet to allow you into select pools. Promoted feelings of classism which did not sit well. Accomodation advertised as a Luxury 1 or 2 bedroom penthouse. In the booking process an email did not reach me that indicated a master room reserved. We were expecting to have a kitchen and to be able to prepare some meals of our own. On arrival we had in essence a luxurious hotel room. We would have benefitted from a microwave (which there was room for in a cupboard that held a fridge) to warm up the concierge provided coffee (was at best luke warm even upon delivery). No kitchen meant we had to eat out all meals and the resort restaurants are quite expensive increasing significantly the cost of our vacation. We were in Luxxe tower 5 which required 2 shuttle rides to get the the Grand Mayan (the bulk of the pools and best ocean access). We were often waiting for shuttles to get us to our locations. The walk ways to get to the main plaza were very nicely done; be prepared for the walk distance if you are able. We walked down the beach and out through the Sea Garden tower of the Vidanta to go to local restaurants which were much less costly. We could also take the water taxi at the Marina to attend Tuesday market and get groceries which were less expensive off Vidanta site. The food at the restaurants was delicious and beautifully presented. The portions are on small side but tasty. There was only one restaurant that offered al a carte breakfast; less expensive and more fitting to our eating style. The buffets encourage over eating to be able to get your money's worth. This is a meal we would like to have provided for ourselves if we had a kitchen. My husband enjoyed the golf provided by a member who had a deep discount on the green fees. Without this benefit golf would have been too expensive. We needed room service due to an illness for 2 days and we discovered this was the least expensive way to eat. We did not have any kind of table on our deck or in our room to eat on. Could only see the TV from the bed. Not interested in time share breakfast; lots of pressure to attend. Was beautiful but costly a kitchen can help with this.
