Stayed Dec 31, 1969After 14 years of a Summer beach gathering- our family had to find a new spot to meet. Chinquapin was an amazing find. 32 people, ranging in age from 18 mos to 87 yrs old- and everyone had a great time! The rooms/cottages were welcoming and beautifully decorated. The lodge and main kitchen were beyond perfect for preparing meals, visiting, eating, doing puzzles, playing games and cards and just relaxing. The water was refreshing and wonderful for swimming, floating, kayaking, paddle boating, rope swinging and just enjoying! The two ponds offered fun fishing- bass and perch. The Rec-room and playground, basketball court and volleyball areas were all put to good use. Highly recommend having Maria make you breakfast one morning. It was delicious! The owner and foreman were both so kind and accommodating, answering my questions leading up to our stay and during our stay. We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay at Chinquapin! Even our more 'tough to please' family members said it was 'top notch'!! It is a little piece of hill country heaven! Grateful to have had the opportunity to stay there!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Chinquapin! I'm not sure too many of our 30+ guests learned how to pronounce the ranch name, but they all called it wonderful! Our family reunion covered an age range from 12 months to 85 years old! Relatives came from Texas, Louisiana, and Georgia. We settled in for 3 nights of bliss. We especially made good use of the pool! We used the floats, kayaks, paddle boat and rope swing! My 7 yr old grandson learned how to paddle a kayak in about 10 minutes and was all over the place with it! The water was COLD which was great for July air temps! The eldest were able to watch all the water play comfortably from the shady patio by the house. The kitchen was a focal point for sure and we had such fun cooking and prepping food in the open space. There was just so much room for us to hang out! Oh, fishing! There were a handful who fished in the lovely fish pond and got to witness one catch and release of a nice sized bass. The little children were thrilled with the playground! And the older kids loved the rec room. No one was bored!! The different cottages provided perfect comfort for sleeping. Each cottage was just adorably decorated and outfitted. We really could not have asked for better lodging for all of us The pictures on the listing are great but seeing it all in real life - it is all even more beautiful!! We are already talking about next year! And we hope we can stay longer, for sure!! Thank you, Cecilia, for your help and advice. It was truly a terrific place for our reunion!!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969I can not really put into words how I feel about Chinquapin. As soon as the gates open and you drive in there is a calm that settles over you. We go every year with a group of close friends to reconnect, eat, swim, laugh, dance, drink and play. Our kids can romp around and run free like little wild rascals--my son Gus, asks me daily when we are going back to Chinquapin. The main house's large open room and kitchen is worthy of a home movie scene --- where cooking and laughing and talking surround you. From there the all other homes/cottages on the property have such a unique spirit and decor. The Water. Oh my goodness. The Water and the fishing. It is utterly amazing. jill

Stayed Dec 31, 1969I don't know if I can adequately describe this magical completely perfect place. From the first moment we started talking to the owners until today (a week after our charmed visit) all communications were a joy. We celebrated my husband's 70th birthday with a family gathering and big music party at Chinquapin Ranch. We couldn't possibly have found a better place and better group of people to support our important time together. Chinquapin is a very special spot, clearly loved and cultivated by it's owners and staff. Each person we met connected to the place was a special enchanted being. I'm not over stating. This place is very very special, we would return at the drop of a hat at any time of year for the rest of our lives.
