Retreat to this thoughtfully appointed Village Hideaway - a cozy private room with an ensuite bathroom for one or two guests, and a private entrance. Enjoy the convenience to easily stroll downtown Saranac Lake for dining and shopping via the Adirondack Rail Trail right behind the building. The rail trail is currently completed for 25 miles and is truly an amazing area amenity.

Whether you are visiting friends or family, or coming to adventure outside in the woods or on the water, or for a work trip we have you covered: A sweet space is equipped for preparing simple meals or snacks with a compact refrigerator with freezer, microwave, toaster, drip coffee maker and other kitchen essentials. There is a small deck with a table, chairs, and cushions to sit outside during the warmer months. A secretary's desk awaits those needing a dedicated work space. The Hideaway's ensuite bathroom has a 32 shower stall. Bath essentials are provided including towels and washcloths, hand soap, shower gel, shampoo, and hair dryer. This rental is in the rear of the owner's home with parking a few steps from the private entrance. The Village Nook, a full garden level, is also available through VRBO/Expedia Partners.

Interaction with guests
Mary and Kevin are available whenever needed via text or phone and are usually quick to reply. We are glad to meet our guests but its not required since we provide self-check-in. You'll find a guidebook in the room with the hosts recommendations for dining and outings as well as brochures and maps for area attractions, trails and waterways.

The neighborhood
The Village Hideaway is conveniently located a short walk to downtown Saranac Lake and its shops, cafes, restaurants, and artist galleries. The building behind the home is Bluseed Studios, featuring art exhibits, workshops, plays and live music. Across the street kitty corner is a small park with a tennis/pickleball court and basketball court. Guests have found the convenience of stores located across the street: Dollar General, Aubuchon's Hardware, Kinney Drugs, a Wine and Spirits shop, and a bicycle and snow mobile rental shop. Less than a mile away is the towns’ municipal beach, park and picnic area at Lake Colby - a lovely spot to watch the sunset, and a boat launch on Lower Saranac Lake, which gives access to the spectacular Saranac chain of lakes. Behind the building is the new Adirondack Rail Trail where you can walk, bike, cross country ski or snow mobile for miles! 25 miles of 34 is currently complete as of Fall ' 24. The remaining nine miles is slated to be complete Fall ' 25.

Saranac Lake's history continues as a health and wellness getaway location. Come see why Saranac Lake is one of the northeast's pioneering health resorts and why a get away here in the great north woods is good for the soul.

Other things to note
Mary has a private wellness studio on the main level of the house. Make an appointment for a rejuvenating experience. Enjoy a private yoga or qigong lesson, yoga therapy, Reiki, BioMat, or sound meditation/healing. Check the Inner Quest Yoga & Wellness Center website for details.

Let the Hideaway be your home away.
Breath, relax, feel and be.
We enjoy hosting guests from all over the world!
Kind regards, Mary & Kevin

It was a good value. Big plus was the rail trail Right there. The part of town is not cozy and picturesque BUT you can't have everything. Glad we stayed in Saranac Lake. Its a working village. Lake Placid is glitzy.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mary and her husband shortly after my arrival. She respected my privacy but was available for questions and suggestions for dining options. A nice notebook had been prepared to acquaint visitors with potential local activities and points of interest. If you like motorcycle travel, husband Kevin can give you pointers on favorite Adirondack road adventures. No TV, so bring a book to relax with.

I stayed here for Ironman Lake Placid, it was the perfect location, I'll defiantly go back if its available. It was far enough away from the race area and also close enough to it. the scenery of the area is amazing. Mary was really helpful and accommodating, the room was great, clean cozy and peaceful just what was need before the race.

My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mary and Kevin’s. It was our first time in the Adirondacks, we went for the hiking and couldn’t have asked for a better location to stay. Saranac Lake is a short drive to sole beautiful hikes and lakes. And Saranac itself has some gorgeous hikes and places to swim. The room was clean and we get very comfortable there. We also appreciated having a microwave to heat our prepared meals in (travelling on a budget), as well as toaster and coffee maker. We plan to go back to the Adirondacks and would not hesitate to stay here again.

I didn't like that I couldn't contact the property owner prior to paying for it. I wanted to ask about its location. We wanted to stay in a secluded place, but this place was in the middle of a busy intersection surrounded by pretty ugly (industrial, contractor supply(?), traffic light and street lights right out the window...traffic noise) views. If I could have learned that prior, I would not have rented it. After I booked the place, I asked the owned to contact me, but I was never contacted prior to my arrival. When I arrived and saw where it was, I tried to cancel, but was not allowed to. I ate the whole cost. I ended up staying at a very nice place in Lake Placid for less! The owner said by me canceling she couldn't rent the place for the weekend. However, I didn't rent the place until the day before. There were a lot of vacancies (April) and I am sure anyone who saw where the place was located would rather rent elsewhere.

The owner put so much thought into everything and provided every little extra you could imagine, right down to fresh organic 1/2 1/2in the mini fridge for morning coffee, which was also provided! There was a Keurig machine and a variety of coffee pods. Also a toaster and microwave. There were cups, glasses, plates, utensils, and much more! She made excellent use of space and decorated beautifully 😊 I highly recommend this place

The room was cozy and well equipped for our needs. There was excellent signage that provided important details. Mary greeted us and we appreciated meeting her. There is a really nice brewery close by along the river. We are there twice. And one morning I was able to ski out the door along the rail trail.

Bike trail was right outside, we took a 10 mile ride after arriving. Hiked the next day at jackrabbit trail, drove some scenic roads, fall colors were fantastic. Went to Lake Placid the next day, did gondola and zipline at the ski jump center, walked around town, then hiked the cobble trail which was a good uphill trail with a nice view at the top. We then went back to the ski jump to watch them practice, it was cool. As far as accommodations, there was not a table to eat on or to play games in the room, there is a table and chairs on the porch.

Check in and communication were very good. Place was very clean and instructions were left on nice note cards for house particulars. Murphy bed was comfy and there were plenty of blankets. There is no TV and no table for eating or playing games. Microwave is on the floor. If you’re plan on eating your meals out, and bringing your own entertainment

The room was great, very clean, the hosts were kind and available. The problem was that the walls are paper thin, and the room is just off of their residence and kitchen. At 4 AM, one of the hosts was up and making breakfast, so we were woken up and couldn’t get back to sleep for a while. Then when we did get back to sleep, it happened again some time later. Unfortunately, this was very unpleasant and not having slept well affected our entire next day. So if you’re particularly sensitive to noise, just be aware.
