The Hen House: Enchanted Casita Near Downtown Phoenix

Friendly hosts & darling, comfortable, clean casita with many amenities. Would love to book again next time in PHX

Thank you to both hosts for a warm welcome and lovely stay! The property was clean, homey and exactly what I needed for the two days I was there.

Kristi & Larry are absolutely amazing hosts and the bed was absolutely comfortable! The air conditioning is great at helping to beat the desert heat and the smart TV worked well, meaning there is no lack of entertainment! If you like seeing chickens roaming around and love animals in general, this is a great place to stay! The close distance to Sky Harbor also makes it great for those who fly in like my wife and I did! The only thing I didn't like is the fact that the ratings go up to five stars, when they certainly deserve more! My wife and I are certainly considering staying again next time we visit Phoenix! My personal rating: 100 out of 10 See you guys next time!

The casita was excellent and located in a beautiful, safe, quite residential section near downtown Phoenix. The host was available to greet us and review the features of the property. Dining options were available within a short walk or driving distance. We only stayed one night but I would stay here again for an extended period and recommend this property to anyone who wished to stay in this area.

Great place with great hosts.

I loved how homey it was. A dog, chickens, beautiful backyard and the casita very clean and the perfect size for two. I am thinking I would like to reserve for a few days for myself for a qilting escape.

The Hen house is charming, quiet & lovely. We were welcomed by their cute dog, Willetta & chickens. So happy we found this hidden gem! Thank you Larry for your great hospitality!

Hosts were wonderful and answered all of my questions. The area was beautiful, safe and a short distance to downtown. The cottage was very clean, well taken care of and my stay was very enjoyable. I will definitely consider staying here next time I am in Phoenix.

What a delightful property! I was looking for something near my meetings downtown, and this was a wonderful location. The communication was excellent, and the place itself was absolutely charming. I would gladly stay here again on my next visit to town!

Everything was great! The casita was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed. The bathroom had all the amenities we needed in case we forgot something, and they provided chilled filtered water in the fridge. Larry was responsive and helpful. The neighborhood was quiet. We really enjoyed our stay, it was a great base for us during March Madness.

Amazing stay! The hosts went above and beyond to accommodate our specific circumstances. The house was clean and comfortable, and we loved the relaxing backyard! Great value, too! (Not sure why it’s asking me to rate the skiing experience, since this is southern Arizona…. )

A beautiful quiet nature filled oasis in the downtown area of Phoenix. What an amazing surprise. The casita is so nicely decorated with warmth and tastefulness which embraces one with a feeling of serenity and calmness. We had everything we needed in these delightful surroundings and even though there are plentiful restaurants around we enjoyed eating out on the patio in the garden. Larry was the best host. He helped with unloading the car and made sure everything was okay during our stay. We will stay again. This is a special find in Phoenix - so close to culture, sports, great walking areas, and the neighborhood itself is delightful being one of the designated historic areas of Phoenix.

This place is an oasis! What a lovely place! I sat outside in the patio area.to eat lunch. I spoke to the chickens everyday. I walked the neighborhood and was.just astounded at the beauty of the development. The casita is clean, bed is super comfy. They even had 3 bottles of chilled water ready for me. The bathroom is clean and towels nice a heavy. I could go on and on. Definitely my favorite VRBO to date!

The room was just as described, and we loved it! It was super cute, very clean, comfortable, in a fun and unique setting, and convenient to everything we were doing while in town. Also, the hosts were fantastic. Quick to respond and very hospitable.

The Hen House was a lovely retreat from the scorching Phoenix weather. We had a wonderful stay in the quiet casita between our time exploring downtown. So very grateful to our hosts--and thank you, Larry, for the extra help with loading our car! We would love to be back, and we highly reccomend this spot to anyone looking for a peaceful stay.

The Casita was very clean and comfortable, wish it wasn't over 100, would of like to of spent time outside it seemed very relaxing. Appreciated the privacy and the quite atmosphere in such a busy city. Thank you .

Great place to stay for a diamondbackgame

Larry and Kristi have a very clean and adorable accommodations with outdoor space. They responded to all questions and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable with snacks, cold water, fresh lemons and eggs . I will definitely stay again when in the area.

We absolutely loved everything about our stay at The Hen House. The casita was clean and centrally located to everything. The yard was a bird watchers paradise! The hosts were friendly, including the sweet pup. Definitely recommend and we hope to be back sometime.

I was very impressed with the beautifully landscaped grounds, the artistic decoration, and the cleanliness of the property. There were many amenities thoughtful items, and notes for guests. So peaceful, quiet and comfortable.

Only here for 1 night but wouldn't hesitant staying longer.

A jewel. The setting in the quiet, historic Story neighborhood sets the tone even before check-in. No issue with parking. The property is well furnished and comfortable comfortable.concomfortable.comfortable.and.arranged.

We only had one night at the Hen House and that was not enough. This property is so beautiful and relaxing! All of the lights that come on in the garden at night are stunning. The hosts were so kind and very communicative. I would most certainly recommend staying here!

Very cozy clean sweet little cottage nestled in a beautiful garden in the historic district of downtown Phoenix. Casita has everything we needed and we had a wonderful time. We loved the convenient location of being downtown.

We loved staying at the Hen House! It is a great little casita, very close to the airport and walking distance to several great restaurants. The yard a a wonderfully relaxing place, and we enjoyed some outdoor time before we checked out. ThoTheowners arr very friendly

We only stayed for one night but it was perfect for us. The casita is a great little place that had everything we needed for our stay. The proximity to downtown was great, we walked down there in about 30 minutes and took a short Lyft ride back. The hosts have thought of pretty much everything and are very friendly. We would definitely stay again if we needed a place in town.

The location is close to downtown and many restaurants. We went to a concert at the Az Financial Theater and it was very nice to be close by yet tucked away in a lovely, quiet neighborhood after the event. The hosts were thorough in explaining check in and out and were very friendly, we felt very comfortable there We would definitely stay again

What a beautiful property and little casita. We loved it! In fact, we didn't even go out to dinner because we didn't want to leave the lovely space. Took a stroll thru the historic neighborhood in the evening - so charming. We loved every minute of it. Larry was a great host - communicative, personable and welcoming while giving us our space. A wonderful experience.

The hosts are very hospitable. The casita is comfortable and well appointed. Lots of sitting areas in the backyard. We enjoy staying in this walkable neighborhood.

Married at the Irish Cultural Center and spent one night at the Hen House. Arrived late in the evening, but ran into zero problems with access. The atmosphere was refreshing and offered more than we were able to take advantage of during our short stay. Highly recommend it!

This spot is an unexpected oasis here in a city of this size. Comfy, welcoming and both warm (vibes!) and cool (decor…and hosts!). Appreciate all the attention to detail in this groovy space these great hosts created for themselves (and Willetta the pooch and the brood) of hens! and for their guests.

Came to Phoenix for a long weekend for my daughter’s surprise engagement. Loved this property! I’ve stayed at several other casita’s in the area and this is my favorite. They communicated so incredibly well with a book of information provided. The casita was stocked with all my needs and the area outside made me feel like I was in the “country” near downtown Phoenix. Great little neighborhood. Larry and Kristi were super nice and engaging as well!

Although my trip to Phoenix and stay at the Hen House was cut short by the wildfires in Los Angeles, we thoroughly enjoyed the space. Neatly appointed, clean and quiet. Everything I needed for a quick stay.

Charming, secluded casita in a charming, walkable, safe, historic neighborhood. The owners were welcoming, charismatic and provided everything we could possibly need or want. Everything worked. Everything was adorable and clean. The bed was comfortable. The location was convenient to walk to fine dining and wonderful museums.

It was a fun chicken themed property. I guess it was actually hens, because it was called the hen house. We enjoyed our stay. Easy to get to, friendly host and very private.

We had a wedding to attend in Peoria but didn't want to stay there. We found this PERFECT oasis in Phoenix to relax in after pre and post wedding activities. The casita is centrally located for easy access to the airport, freeways, downtown, great restaurants, museums, art installations, and more. But that's about Phoenix...The Henhouse is the best VRBO I've stayed in, hands down. From the clear instructions, and welcoming lighting to the casita, the fun and edible landscaping, Willetta and the chickens, Larry and Kristi couldn't do better. They have thought of everything down to fresh eggs and filtered water in the fridge. They are incredibly friendly and welcoming and the Henhouse is right in their backyard, so it means a lot when a family takes in the weary travelers. We walked to great breakfast, dinner, breweries, and enjoyed exploring the historic FQ Story neighborhood where the property is located. This VRBO is worth your time, you'll love it!

Our visit was short but great! I will definitely be staying here the next time I have an event in Phoenix. It was so peaceful and cute. You are greeted by a sweet dog, see hens and a beautiful landscape as you walk to the casita. It is a perfect little place to stay and was way better then a hotel. Parking on the street was not a problem either, and it was safe.

The Casita was exceptionally clean & well furnished. Had a toaster oven - a plus for us. Larry is an awesome host - attentive, respectful & available to answer questions & offer help. Enjoyed the chickens, Willetta the dog, & all the reclaimed and repurposed antiques and old items to furnish the secret garden behind the gate. Larry loves plants. He has made a garden delight both in front of the property as well as in the garden, behind. We were close to every place we wanted to go. The neighborhood was quiet & very nice. We will definitely stay here again. Definitely an 11/10!!
