Nested on the Southern hillside overlooking the valley, you’ll rise to a colored sky while you drink your morning coffee in the pergola with a mountain view and take a stroll on one of the nearby trails in peace and quiet. Then take a less than 5 minute drive to one of the MANY neighborly boutiques and cafés in the old town of Yucca Valley. Mosey back to the house to catch the sherbet sunset as you make that desert fire in our fire-pit. There’s your perfect day in the contemporary cowboy Casita.

Incredibly situated, between complete serenity and active shopping and sightseeing (5 minutes away!), our little casita is the perfectly quaint, best of both worlds type of place. A modern capsule set in the simplicity and silence of the desert, this little house presents a “contemporary cowboy” style.
Upon arrival up our dirt road, you’ll already get the feel that you’ve found yourself just off the beaten path. Tucked into the mountain, you’ll find our home amidst the smell of creosote.

With modern accents like a new leather couch, wifi, localized “mini-split” heating and cooling, brand new kitchen appliances, a new record player with bluetooth, and freshly white bedding all only 5 minutes from everything you need in town, you won't feel too isolated in the country. Yet the wood-fire pit, hiking along one of the preserved desert nature trails, right off our street (and just a 3 minute walk away), hints of southwestern patterns on our curtains, little flannel touches, paintings of the surrounding landscape and Joshua trees, coffee available for your pleasure, a view of our old rock tower that was built in the 30’s, and of course the simplicity and beauty that surrounds you when you’re here viewing the colorful sunsets will remind you that you are off the beaten path and you’ll feel a little bit like a cowboy.

The Casita’s simplicity aims to frame the real highlight: the landscape with its stunning, unobstructed views and the tranquility of the surrounding desert vegetation (Joshua Trees, Juniper trees, Desert willows, Cholla cactus, etc) . You can view the beautiful skies night or day- incredible colors and vivid stars from our big picture windows or sit outside in comfort in our pergola. In the pergola you can enjoy being outside during the day while taking a break from the sun with curtains that you can draw up or down- stay outside into the evening and turn on the string lights to add a nice touch of warm coziness.

Highlights include:

½ acre private lot on a 3.5 acre shared accessible property (The property goes from Inca trail on the East side to the fence on the West side, and from just above the casita all the way down to Bunny road. Feel free to walk around!)
Stunning views of the mountains/valley
Private outdoor fire pit and grill!
Direct access by foot to trails surrounding the property
5 minute drive to downtown Yucca Valley’s shops and restaurants, and grocery stores!
Stocked kitchen and cooking essentials such as oils, seasonings, pots and pans so you can actually cook!
20 minute drive to Joshua Tree National Park (which entrance ) And downtown Joshua Tree’s local sights and shops
12 minute drive to Pioneer Town

My travel partner and I had a wonderful time staying here. You can tell a lot of time and effort was spent on all the small details in the home. It was clean, fully stocked with essentials and overall an awesome stay. Would definitely stay here again if the opportunity is there!

My two kids and I stayed here because it was close to Pappy and Harriet’s at Pioneertown. It was only minutes from there and even closer to Route 62 where we spent an afternoon at the cool shops. As close as we were to everything, the property felt quiet, cozy, and away from it all. We loved it.

Perfect property for my family of 4 (2 kids, 2 adults). Nicely remodeled desert 2 bedroom, simple and efficient. I only wish it was a bit warmer for our stay so that I could enjoy the lovely outdoor seating area, next time!

This charming desert retreat was in a quiet, beautiful neighbor! The house was cozy and large enough for my friend and myself :) I did have a concern about the cleanliness of the property.

This is a cozy casita in the desert foothills, located in a quiet area away from the traffic noise of town. There is a beautiful view overlooking the valley, which was so nice in the morning. We enjoyed playing records while making dinner, we woke up to a nicely sunny home in the morning, and the rain shower was also very relaxing. We were only there for one night, and we didn't have an opportunity to use the outdoor space, but it looked really fun and inviting for sitting around the firepit. Would recommend!

My friends and I decided to partake in a weekend hiking trip to explore the beauty of Joshua Tree. This casita had everything we needed to make the experience incredible. The stargazing in the evening was incredible without having to drive anywhere. I'd heavily recommend staying here. The hosts make the check-in process seamless.
