Wells River, Vermont
Our 2 bedroom guest suite is located in a historic complex built in the 1880's to house railroad workers. The building complex sits on 6 acres of land along a hillside and consists of 4 private short term guest homes. Property manager lives at adjoining building, but each suite provides private entry access and use of the full property common areas. Plenty of trees and grassy areas to enjoy as well as a short walking trail down to the Connecticut River. The unit is located on the first floor with a small front and back porch. We have updated to the suite with modern amenities and stocked it for your comfort. A cozy couch in the living room converts to a full size bed for an extra guest and gives you plenty of space to relax and watch some TV. Small dining room for 4 and kitchen with oven, microwave, refrigerator, Keurig coffee maker, toaster oven and fully stocked with dishware and bakeware. The master bedroom features a queen size bed with memory foam mattress and 6 storage drawers. The second bedroom has a twin over full bunk bed perfect for kids or adults. The small bathroom includes a vintage clawfoot tub with shower combo.
This suite is part of a group of other 4 units available as vacation rentals in the same building. Rent this unit alone or if looking to accommodate a larger group, rent multiple units together. Other VRBO Units in the same area:

We loved this place only thing they need to do is put the unit number on the door on the side where you park they have it on the other door on the opposite entrance
Cute place! Was perfect for what we needed - a place to stay while we went sight seeing.
Extremely clean and very well stocked with essentials…very peaceful… enjoyed our stay immensely….. thanks
First of all, let me say that we have used VRBO for 20+ years and have a 5.0 guest rating and this is the first property that we would never return to. The cold water did not work in the only bathroom and we had to brush our teeth in the kitchen sink. When we arrived it was very cold and could not get the heat to work. We contacted the onsite manager and found out that the renter on the floor above controlled the heat/air and she had to be contacted in order to get our heat to come on. The fan/light in the dining room did not work and we had to contact the manager again to replace the battery. The lights in the house, other than the kitchen are extremely dim especially in the dining area. There are not enough towel bars in the bathroom and we laid our towels over chairs to dry because if we hung them on hooks, it was too damp for them to dry. The house is very old and there were very few electric outlets. The night stand in the master bedroom is a plant stand about 12 inches in diameter and you couldn't place too many things on it. There is absolutely no space around a miniscule sink and mirror (the only one in the house) in the bathroom to place any toiletries. The onsite manager tried her best to correct things when she was available. She brought in a mirror to stand up and an old luggage rack so that we had somewhere to place our suitcase as there were no dressers to put clothes in. Overall, this property did not live up to the VRBO standards that we are used to.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay despite some challenges. We had a couple hiccups our first day, but Allison and Tina worked quickly and diligently to accommodate us. The unit was clean and very comfortable! Perfect for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. We enjoyed the firepit on the property to make popcorn and s’mores. The location is ideal for an easy commute to the Kangamangas Highway and gorgeous views of the White Mountains. Also easy commute to Montpelier, Waterbury, & Stowe, VT. So many things to do within 30-60 minutes drive!! We can’t wait to come back and do some more exploring! Highly recommend this unit as well as others on the property. Thank you, Allison & Tina!!!!
Great spot with private access to River.
Awesome place pictures do it no justice!! Would definitely visit again.
Just a few comments. One night there were guests(?) standing right outside the bedroom window talking just before midnight. Kind of rude. One of the guests was irate because we parked in her spot once. I think there might be rats in the attic--could hear some thumping around. We couldn't get the heater to work in the bunk bedroom, but we were fine once the core of the house heated up. We had a lovely stay and you don't have to put any of this in your review.
Stay was close to our event (dirtdaze) we came with a 5x9 trailer and it was super easy to park, load, and unload gear. Location was secure and only 10 minutes from a a gas station, market, and locals trails.
We had a wonderful time here. Old New England building but with very nice remodel / updates including heat pump for AC and on demand water heater along with lots of on demand TV options. Walk down the river was nice. Make sure to come at it on Shaeffer Hill off Railroad Street and NOT off Water St which has railroad tracks and a hump that many cars will not clear.
