California Casual - A garden oasis in Los Angeles

The ONLY thing I would change about this property would be the shower water pressure, it wasn't terrible, just not great. The pool, Debbie and the dogs were absolutely wonderful and we would have never left if we hadn't booked things to do.

This was truly a cozy, quiet oasis. The yard was lovely and great for relaxing pool side (never got quite warm enough to try the pool.) The bed was very comfortable. I liked the large closet too! It was a very comfortable and we will definitely be back.

Home is not private. The host lives in the main house, and there is no private outdoor space. The host had a dinner party on the back patio one night during our stay, and this made it very uncomfortable for us to sit outside. Also, the guests were using the gate next to our entrance door, and the dog was barking. We were traveling with our daughter and had people coming and going, which was unnerving, especially since we had been under the impression that we had a private space. The check-in process is not keyless. The host must meet you, provide you with physical keys, and give you a tour. The guest home was overall clean, but the pots, the electric cooktop, other available kitchen/cooking items, and the floor trim were very dusty and dingy. We are dog people, but did not appreciate the host’s dog coming and going from the house if we left the door open, and jumping up on our chairs while we were sitting outside. We did enjoy ourselves and had a wonderful time. The home is close to Universal Studios, shopping, restaurants, and many other attractions. We had everything we needed for our stay, but expected to have more privacy, as with other VRBOs.

The accommodations were perfect for me and my daughter needs. We stayed here while visiting my son who lives in the area. The owner was very personable and friendly. I will stay again if the opportunity arises again.

Cute little guest house! Clean, cozy, and the bed was comfie. Perfect for just needing a place to lay your head. Pool was cool (temperature wise) but it was March. Host was great, easy to get a hold of and checked in on us to make sure everything was good. She even found us some beach chairs to use! Thank you so much, Debbie!

I thoroughly enjoyed my short visit to California Casual! The guesthouse is very comfortable and well-equipped, and in a beautiful, quiet and safe neighborhood within walking distance of many fun restaurants/bars, as well as the awesome Sunday farmers' market! The yard and pool area is lovely and perfect for my morning coffee and an afternoon birthday champagne toast! Debbie is a great host - very responsive, welcoming and available; my family enjoyed getting to know her (and Moose) a bit! We have already recommended California Casual to other family members and friends when they visit Valley Village! Thanks again, Debbie, for a wonderful stay!

I enjoyed my quiet stay – – second year in a row for a week each time. I can walk to my son‘s home from here. Grapefruit and lemons were ripening on her trees, and I was gifted with several, which I really enjoyed. I plan to come back next year.

Hosts were adaptable, responsive, and went the extra mile. This place is absolutely adorable and I will definitely stay here again if given the opportunity.

When we arrived the lady didn’t answer and we had to knock on her door to let us in. It said there were amenities like spa and shampoo. We were left a 1/4 bottle of pert, very cheap shampoo and bars of soap that fell apart I. The shower. We were left 3 towels for 9 days and had to ask for more. We went to sit outside by the pool and the chair broke. No keurig maker and no privacy. The toilet did not work most of the time. It would be ok for a short stay. Neighborhood was nice. I’m just being honest.

Host was very welcoming. Came in and showed us the amenities of the house and even said if we had any questions or needed recommendations he would be happy to help . Definitely will be looking to book again if we are in town.

What a great stay! The place was clean and very accommodating. We arrived quite late but Debbie greeted us and gave a a quick but informative tour of the space. The back yard was welcoming and the pool was well maintained. Very quiet and safe neighborhood with great proximity to many locations. Will definitely stay again!

Lovely property, great location, very safe neighborhood. The owner was very friendly and provided written information about the area and the property.

Pool was amazing. Location was great! Didn’t think owner would be using pool at same time as me. Uncomfortable! Didn’t like that we had to make contact to get the keys. Usually there is a code system or lock box. Didn’t like that you had to Jimmy the gate to get into property and that at night light didn’t come on until you were done using key. Hard to see. Said sleeps 3 but one of the “beds” was just a plain couch, not even a fold out futon. Not very comfortable for a second adult. And the worst part, came out of the shower to find water all over the floor of the house. Was from toilet issue that she had experienced before and thought was fixed. What if we had been gone? As it was, clothes, backpacks, duffle bags, etc., got soaking wet. No washing or drying machine to use. Just offered a drying rack. Had to carry out huge rug that was on main walking path that was soaked. Stained brand new shirt. Stained bottom of backpack. Spent over an hour just trying to get everything picked up and sorted out. And was day before we left so had to pack up some wet clothes. Pretty horrible experience. Kind of ruined the end of the trip. Debra was nice enough and responded pretty quickly but upsetting that she had this happen before so knew right away what happened. I didn’t. I thought it might be the refrigerator or the shower. Really was unsure. Wouldn’t have even guessed toilet. And while she was nice, her solution was less than ideal.

Debra the host/owner met us as we arrived after our flight had been delayed by 5 hours. Everything was clean and ready. Delightful little guest house.

Cozy and super comfortable space! Easy access to so much around LA. Quiet neighborhood and we enjoyed the added bonus of a pool. Definetely recommend!

Everything as mentioned... million things to do close by, Universal 10min, Santa Monica Pier 30 min.

The unit was clean and well-stocked. Plenty of towels, including pool towels. The bed was very comfortable and the unit had everything I needed. It was also great to spend a warm afternoon in the landscaped yard and lounging by the pool.

Debbie’s guesthouse was the perfect sanctuary for my time in LA. The space is exactly as advertised, warmly decorated, comfortable, clean, quiet, within a beautiful yard and neighborhood. The bed is very comfortable and there’s everything you could need for your stay. Debbie was a wonderful host, helpful and generous. I would definitely stay there again.

Perfect place to stay for few days away from hustle and bustle of LA. Friendly host (loved the dog Moose!) Only negative was pool was dirty (but too cold to swim anyway) and you're in the airport flight path so a bit less relaxing than I'd hoped.

Great location. Owner was very nice. Living space was clean and comfortable. No oven or range, but had hot plate, electric wok, and toaster oven. Pool wasn't ready to use, needs service. Perhaps because the weather had just turned nice, wasn't time.

I will be staying here again. Five blocks away from my grandsons made it a perfect spot. I walked to their school, grocery store, library, and church. My grandsons especially enjoyed the pool, even though it was too cold to fully jump in – – they liked fooling around at the edge.

It was amazing to have a comfortable , clean and safe place to stay while visiting my son. This will be my California retreat while I am out here. thanks Deb

The property was so beautiful and comfortable in a wonderful and convenient neighborhood! I was so comfortable and the place was roomy yet cozy. It was very clean, organized and well stocked. The host was very kind and so responsive!!

This is a great little spot if you need something more cozy and personal than a hotel but not quite so much a house. My kiddo and I celebrated his 9th birthday at Universal studios and this was just right for us to come home to at the end of the day! Was a little hectic at check in since it was my first time not utilizing a self lock box check in but we figured it out and had a great stay! Thanks again Debbie and Benn!

Perfect for our trip - two people, walked to great coffee/breakfast, easy parking, safe. Loved it. Would absolutely stay again.

The host is responsive to requests. She seems very willing to address issues to make your stay pleasant.

No complaints about this place. Location was great for me since family was very close by. All the essentials were provided and the owner was very nice and readily available if needed.

Debbie was a kind and thoughtful host and her dog Moose is a sweetheart. The guest house was terrific - perfect size, comfy bed, walk in closet, amazing shower and the kitchen had everything we needed. Really comfortable and clean accommodation. The pool is lovely - I only wish we had had time for more than one swim. The neighbourhood is quiet and it’s a great location. I needed something to relax and have peace of mind in between a busy Los Angeles weekend and this place was everything I could ask. The host was very accommodating and greatly appreciated.
