Enjoy a country vacation amid the green, rolling hills of our sustainable livestock farm in the Susquehanna River Valley. With hundreds of sheep, friendly pigs , chickens, turkeys, working border collies, horses, and honeybees, there is always something interesting going on. You'll stay in The Loft, a cozy guesthouse with 4 beds on the second floor: one bunk bed, one twin, and one double. Your visit is very private and personal, because we host only one group at a time. We are in the country, but grocery stores and amenities are just 10 minutes away. Explore our woods and fields, curl up with a good book by the pond, watch the antics of the flock. Take a sunset walk up Turkey Hill, a favorite spot for deer and yes, turkeys. We'll let you know what farm activities are planned during your stay, and you are welcome to observe or participate as you wish. Families welcome: for safety's sake, children must be supervised at all times. There are many other guest attractions in the region, such as Knoebel's Amusement Park, Clyde Peelings Reptile Museum, and Tobias Wild Animal Park. Dave and I are your hosts: we live steps away from the guesthouse. Note: when we say Sleeps 6, we feel the space is best suited when the 6 includes kids. 6 adults will seem a bit crowded.
Great time staying on David and Caroline's farm. They were great hosts and you felt like you were visiting family. We were free to roam the farm and visit the animals. My husband would go out with David in the morning to do farm chores. He loved learning about the daily farm duties. We also got a bee keeping lesson-very interesting!. The barn was cute and comfortable and perfect for our stay. It was just enough room. There is wifi but no tv. At first I was worried about that, but we decided to stay anyway. We took advantage of family time and played games so we didn't even miss the tv. The farm dogs and cats were adorable and friendly and would come up to you to pet them. The 2 pigs were so cute running to greet us when we were going to see them. We also got to see the pony and the horse which was loving the attention from us. The location is central to many area attractions, but you may also want to leave some time to spend on the farm. We really wished we had more time to spend there but were so booked up with visiting attractions. It was a great time for us and our two 20 year old children. We really enjoyed it! I highly recommend the farm for families with younger children and even grandparents wanting to take their grandchildren on a memorable vacation. We have a few friends that heard about our stay and want to visit. Thanks David and Caroline for a vacation that we will always talk about! We are looking forward to visiting you again in the spring! Have a great winter!
We were so happy to be able to stay at Owens farm again this summer… my daughters and I had the pleasure last summer and we’re so excited to bring my boyfriend this time around. He enjoyed the honey and all the animals and we can’t wait to come back and order fresh lamb and turkey next season!!! Thank you again Owens Family!!
We loved staying on the farm. It beats a hotel any day of the week. The bunk room was perfect for our family. Lots of space and all the amenities you need. The space is well appointed and organized. Arriving late and night was a concern but very easy to find. Perfect for the Bucknell Graduation weekend. Thank you!
Our son attends Bucknell University and we needed a place to stay for family weekend. When I saw this listing on VRBO, I thought it would make the stay unique and more like a home. It met our expectations. The farm is beautiful and is there to explore. We walked all around the fields exploring and seeing the animals. The loft area is where you sleep. The beds were super comfortable; the comforters were made with their sheep wool and were so warm and cozy(I wish you could buy them); There is no TV. I’m a person that needs to sleep with a TV. Well-I slept better than ever and will probably remove the tv from my bedroom. Caroline and David are really nice people. They told us the history of the place and made you feel very welcome. Bring some cash because you will want to leave with their honey. Delicious. All in all, we had a wonderful time staying at the Owen Farm.
My daughters and I only got to stay at the farm for a brief time so we didn’t get to enjoy all it had to offer, but what a time we had. The sunrise walk up to see the horses and pigs was amazing. Memories we’ll never forget!! We will definitely be back, and stay longer next time, to be able to enjoy the farm and neighboring activities more!!
We came to the area for Knobles. I traveled with 3 kids 14, 9, & 7. They said it was the best vacation they had and can’t wait to go back to the farm next year. Caroline and Dave we very friendly and showed my kids the sheep, horses, and fish. We would definitely stay again.
Caroline was a wonderful host. We enjoyed meeting all the animals and spending time on her peaceful farm! Guesthouse was comfortable and had everything we needed. A lovely getaway!
We had a great two night stay for our family trip to knoebels! The farm was a unique place to stay and we even got to watch Daisy herd some of the sheep!
We stayed for parents’ weekend at Bucknell. The layout is a great-room/kitchen with a loft where everyone sleeps in one big room on bunk beds. We camp a lot, so that was fine. The great room was perfect for unplugged family time. We played games and had a wonderful time connecting. The kids loved playing with the barn cats and watching the sheep, goats, etc mill about. Very comfortable AC, bathroom clean and kitchen was well equipped.
David and Carole were terrific. The kids really enjoyed feeding the animals. I enjoyed watching them explore. We all learned a lot about a small meat farm. It was a great place to stay while we visited Knoebels. We will be back. Thank you guys.
