This 1940's Farm House is hidden in plain site. It has been stripped down to its original bones. It's unique features give it great character. This two bedroom one bath features a four foot round galvanized tub shower combo. It has a full kitchen, minus the dishwasher, with everything you need to prepare your own meals. If cooking was not on the agenda your just minutes away from historical downtown McKinney Cultural District, offering a variety of boutiques, restaurants, pubs and wineries. After a trip to town, take a walk down to the pond and prehaps go fishing. Enjoy a game of horseshoes or make smore's in the fire pit. The house is surrounded by 79 acres of farmland, it sits on top of a hill so there is always a breeze. Relax on the porch with your favorite beverage and watch the cows and calves as they graze in the pasture. If you need some alone time, cozy up by the fireplace with a good book. Great family getaway or couples weekend retreat. Its not the Hilton but its feels like home. It is a 1940 farm house so it does get COLD in the winter even with HEATERS. Bring winter clothes for inside and out. The house isn’t really design for long term rental….No WiFi…No washer/dryer…All money goes through VRBO. If you have a pet ….select pet in pricing.

The host was very attentive, and the spaceproperty was full of character! Unfortunately, the house was extremely cold (say, around 55-60F for most of the stay). I suppose a cold front hit McKinney unexpectedly. I assumed the rental had appropriate accomodations to heat the house (which I expect from any hotel or rental without even looking at any description in the first place), but the description DOES claim that it has heating. Of course, this technically true, but the heaters were one wall unit and 3 small space heaters for a space far larger than they could reasonably heat. It was tolerable for a bit until my now-wife (btw, this was our honeymoon rental) caught a cold the morning of our checkout. She is immunocompromised (autoimmune condition called systemic sclerosis), and I would not have booked this rental had I known this would be the outcome. My wife and I agreed that any renters with children under 5 would not be able to stay here, as it just gets too cold. If the description had clearly stated that this rental did not fare well in the cold weather, this would be entirely my fault. However, this is not the case.Had the host not been super communicative and the space not been full of character, I would have actually given a 0- or 1-star rating. That said, I DO think you would have a 5-star experience on a warmer day! All in all, I think this is a wonderful spot meant to be enjoyed in the late Spring, Summer, and early Fall.

Very rustic. You could see daylight through the walls. There was only one channel on the tv and only rocking chairs in the living room. The pond had no fish in it which is the main reason we booked it. We left a few days early. I think there was mosquitoes in the house, we woke up with bites each morning. She was very attentive and quick to answer and it was very clean. The shower was nice with good water pressure. The kitchen could use a strainer for cooking otherwise was well stocked.

If you’re looking to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, don’t hesitate to book Susie’s fabulous farmhouse in McKinney. Enjoy a cup of coffee on the porch while listening to songbirds, cozy cuddles from Kali the cat, and view spectacular sunrises and sunsets. A short drive to the adorable downtown McKinney for shopping and dining is a plus.

This place truly had everything we needed for a relaxing and comfortable stay. From the moment we arrived, it felt like a peaceful retreat. Every morning, we were greeted by the cows in the pasture—a charming touch that made it feel like a true countryside escape. The sweet farm cat was always around too. The space itself was cozy, clean, and well-stocked. It was the perfect balance of rustic charm and modern comfort. My parents loved it so much they’ve already decided this will be their go-to spot whenever they visit from out of town. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with lots of heart!

We loved staying in this farmhouse for a relaxing getaway. It is so peaceful and you feel immersed in the country but are only minutes from town. We spent a whole day in McKinney downtown and could have enjoyed it much longer. The next day we went to the new World Springs spa in The Colony - about 25 mins away. It made for a fabulous restful weekend. The house is comfortable but with rustic decor. There are not recliners or plush sofas, but comfortable old fashioned rocking chairs and a nice large table. We didn’t build a fire outside because it was windy and dry, but we enjoyed the sunrise over the pasture and the songbirds. The kitchen was well equipped, beds were comfortable, everything was clean, and there was a soft and friendly (outdoor) cat to say hello and provide some company. We can’t wait to come again for another quiet weekend getaway!

My son was attending a football camp in McKinney and last minute we decided to stay here instead of a hotel, it was truly a blessing. How many places can you stay that comes complete with cows and a cat. The views of the pastures were perfect, morning love from Kallie the cat truly made this a magical place. The home is perfectly decorated and offers all of the basics you need. The kitchen was perfect for our morning breakfast. Make sure you read the property description as it is completely accurate. I can’t wait to come back and be able to just enjoy the home and surroundings.

I had a wonderful week-long stay at this farmhouse in McKinney. The house sits on almost 80 acres of beautiful pastures with around 30 cows and bulls (my count at the time) roaming freely in them. Kali the cat roams in and out of the house and is very affectionate and friendly. It’s a great place to enjoy nature, and yet downtown McKinney is a short drive (10-15 minutes) away. I would certainly stay here again.

This was hands down the best VRBO I have stayed at in a very long time. From the communication from the owner Susie, cleanliness, comfort (the beds are amazing), sunrises and sunsets, the cows, fully stocked kitchen and bathroom, fire pit with S’mores and the absolute golden touch was Kali the cat. This will be my home away from home when I travel to McKinney. Thank you!

I was so excited as a caregiver to have a peaceful country area to rest and reflect. I'm not used to doing Vrbos and I didn't pay attention to small things like handrails on stairs. Because my husband is still recuperating from a leg surgery he's lost some balance and needed a lot of help going up 4 short stairs. That was my fault. The property is so beautiful. A paradise for me. I was so surprised the mattress and pillows were heavenly! We both slept soundly. I'm not used to the hot temperatures and was so grateful the air conditioners cooled down this cute cowboy cottage. Unfortunately we had to leave after one night but am looking forward to coming back alone when I can enjoy sitting outside! Susie was a good host helping me find my way there! Loved the sweet kitty too! Thank you for giving me a taste of country life!

I had a group of 4 coming, but due to flight cancelation it ended up being myself out here. I am sad for the rest of the group that they did not experience this little taste of Heaven. Myself on the other hand, I had the most peaceful weekend ive had in years. It felt like i had the world to myself and I really needed this place. Im not a cat person , but this cat and i are cool. She is my new friend. Amazing place that gives a feeling of being out iin the middle of nowhere with doordash and Uber available. I cant wait to stay again with the group. Im gonna miss the darn Cat as much as the house and property. Definitely needed break away from all the hustle and this was Giod Sent 5 star rating all the way!
