Stayed Feb 12, 2022First of all, there are several misleading things in the listing. The pool is not heated. It's heated by the sun to quote the owner's son, and I'm not referring to solar panels. The washer and dryer are outside and are shared by another rental unit and the owner's son. There is no dishwasher, which probably was advertised correctly, but just be forewarned. This unit appears to be a converted barn. There are critters. I killed 5 large wolf spiders in one day, and many crickets and mosquitoes got inside. The windows aren't sealed well. There are squirrels or something living under the eaves and you can hear them skittering around. The water stopped working for a day and a half, and the shower started leaking into the kitchen floor. The owner sent his son and then his landscaper to try and fix it, neither of whom knew what to do because a plumber was needed. We ended up spending 3 nights of the month In a hotel due to these issues. It's very hard to regulate the temperature because of the loft design. The bottom level has a cold concrete floor, but if you turn on the heat it gets unbearably warm up where the bed is. And yes, it is cold at night and sometimes all day during winter in Napa! Finally, for a place that requires a month long rental, the furniture is very uncomfortable. Very stiff chairs in the kitchen and living area and just an okay sofa. The kitchen is ill equipped. There were no drinking glasses except wine glasses and no casserole dishes. This is all such a shame because the property and area are truly beautiful to look at and walk around.

Stayed Dec 12, 2021Decorated beautifully in lovely neighborhood. I was there in winter so pool could not be used. Probably nicer during warmer months. The heating system here is very whacky — too hot upstairs and too cold downstairs. Can’t adjust to a comfortable temp. The laundry is outdoors and is shared with guests in another cottage on the property. To get from bedroom to bathroom you have to go up and down a long staircase — did not trust myself climbing the stairs in the middle of the night so I slept on the Murphy bed in the living room. There are not 2 bedrooms, contrary to what the listing says. Pretty place but overpriced due to the above. I would not return.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Treat yourself to a true Napa experience surrounded by lush vineyards and gardens and warm hospitality. The studio is set on a unique property that gives you everything you want from comfort, to convenience to privacy and a great location lending easy access to Napa and Sonoma. The Studio is incredibly clean, spacious and well-appointed. The pictures accurately show the uniqueness of the cool design and decor. The grounds are so lovely and beautifully maintained with paths to wander from gardens and arbors to pool to orchard and vineyard. My hosts D &J are long-time Napa residents and artists, who were creative, warm and helpful in their suggestions of what to see, do and taste in the area. This is so much more memorable than any regular hotel experience- you'll feel like you were truly immersed in wine country life.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969My new wife and I had a wonderful experience. We came here right after our wedding to unwind. The lovely garden, pool, fire pit, vineyards, and comfortable studio allowed us to do just that. J & D were very hospitable and went the extra mile. We hope to go back soon and will recommend to anyone looking for somewhere special to relax. They plan to release a new wine in a couple months and we hope to get a taste!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969My partner and our 2 dogs just came back from a relaxing weekend at this wonderful property. We stayed at the studio, enjoyed the gardens and the grounds - grilled on the back porch - and took day trips to the surrounding towns - PLENTY of dog friendly places, vineyards, and areas to hike and walk. It was just amazing to be able to enjoy the day out and come back to this wonderful property. The studio is comfy, had everything we needed. The hosts were wonderful too - they provided us with a lot of useful information - a list of dog friendly wineries and restaurants, etc. This was very helpful! One day we had a hard time finding a walking path near the property and Dona took us there herself! The overall experience exceeded our expectation - we will recommend this property to our friends and families and we will be back!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We were lucky to have stayed in the Artist Studio this past weekend to help us relax and unwind after the chaotic excitement that is a wedding. The property was exactly what we were looking for -- clean, modern, quiet, relaxing, and romantic. The studio is a beautiful light-filled space with all the modern comforts while still maintaining a warmth and charm. We enjoyed strolling through the spacious gardens that are immaculately cared for -- they even have small weddings in their lovely gardens! John and Dona were the perfect hosts -- friendly, helpful, but unobstrusive. They were very responsive to any questions we had and were happy to provide us with dog-friendly winery and restaurant recommendations. Most nice rentals are not pet-friendly (and as a fellow dog-owner, I can sympathize since there are the few exceptions of irresponsible pet owners that cause damage and destruction) but I really appreciated how welcoming John and Dona were of my westie. Furthermore, the studio was very clean with great furnishings (something that you don't always find in pet-friendly rentals). I thought it would be helpful to clarify that the studio is a 2-story loft with the bedroom upstairs (no separate wall or door but it is separate and secluded from the main living space). There is a beautiful lap pool, lush gardens, and cozy firepit that is shared between the cottage and studio but we hardly saw the other couples staying in the cottage so we felt like we had the whole property to ourselves. :) We would absolutely recommend this property to our family and friends and would love to stay here again in the near future!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969My husband and I rented this studio for a getaway trip to Napa and loved every minute of it. The studio is very nice and has all of the up-to-date additions you could ask for. Every morning we ran through the vineyards right across the street from the studio which was breathtaking. The property is within close proximity to a lot of good wineries, restaurants and shopping areas. The beautiful gardens and outdoor living spaces around the property are a perfect place to have a glass of wine at sunset. However, like the previous reviews mentioned you do have to share the property with other guests in an adjacent cottage. We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves until the last night but it made a big difference. Dona and John were wonderful host and if we needed anything they ran it right over. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a romantic, care free experience in the beautiful Napa Valley.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969What a serene & beautiful piece of property! We stayed 4 nights with our 12 year old son and two dogs. The lap pool was amazing - warm, cared for, and perfect for our son. Got sun until about 4:00 p.m. so perfect amount to warm the water and take advantage of tanning. Owners have put a lot of care into the grounds - beautiful array of plants & flowers. So many garden areas to explore. The guest house was a treat! Huge ceilings, windows galore creating a nice breezeway, cement floor (perfect for dogs), extra large, tiled shower, and the bed and sheets were the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The added plus, the owners' artwork and photographs making the home one-of-a-kind. Not only were John & Dona courteous but great communicators, perfect for recommendations on food/wine, and knowledgeable about Napa. We were minutes away from a bike trail through grapevines which we took advantage of. Also located closely to the town of Napa. The only things I would want to know ahead of time with regard to this rental is that you may have to share the pool if there are others utilizing the 2nd guest house on the property and the house we stayed in is right on the road so you can hear vehicles. Good thing is this is a dead end road and not a lot of traffic. All in all, a magnificent place to stay that is centrally located to all Napa has to offer. Thank you John & Dona for letting us share this experience with you. We truly enjoyed our stay!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Being an avid traveler, I'm most impressed when I happen about a unique experience, especially with a high tourist area like Napa Valley. The studio itself is unique with the artistic decor since the homeowners are professional photographers and artists and share their artwork on the walls of this loft, but the location and entire property itself is by far one of the most unique you will find in Napa. The property is enormous with gorgeous landscaping that the owners clearly spend time perfecting. I can't describe the feeling you get when waking up and walking outside in the fresh, crisp air and staring at a vineyard that spans are far as the eye can see. I took a run down a private road that is lined with grapevines to the left and right and didn't have a car pass by me during my run. The pool was perfect to cool down to in the hot summer day and the rose garden is one of the most romantic settings I have ever seen. perfect for eloping! (although I didn't elope!) Now, the best part about staying here is how accommodating the hosts are. The owners are longtime locals of Napa Valley and can send you to wineries the general public never hear about. My favorite was the Artesa Winery which is just a quick 5-10 min drive from the property. Honestly, you are doing yourself a disservice if you choose to stay at a hotel.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We stayed for a total of four nights and enjoyed every minute of it. The studio is perfectly located between Napa and Sonoma with easy access to all attractions. The suite is beautiful and spacious, everything is very tastefully appointed. We took our dog and couldn't have asked for better accommodation. The garden is beautifully maintained and a treat to indulge in.
