Northend Farmhouse is a pre 1600 thatched building. Some parts were reconstructed after a fire in 1640. Features such as an Inglenook fireplace, old bread oven, wood burning stove and mullion windows combined with plenty of outdoor space, modern comforts and conveniences including 2 large flat screen TVs, mp3 stations and web access, a large kitchen with a bespoke refractory table that seats 14, the great hall with it's guarded Tudor mantled log fire, a large stone terrace with garden tablesnear the kitchen, secluded at the end of a private drive and in the middle of its 100 acre open access traditional farm and benefiting from a fenced lake, organic gardens, ducks, a downstairs shower to wash the kids down after so much outdoor fun create the ideal place for large family holidays and celebration weekends.

We also have a play barn with table tennis. There is snooker in the house and other games. Outside we have a woodfired sauna beside one of the lakes.

The sleeping arrangements are flexible with 5 double rooms (arranged with 3 doubles and 2 twins) and a room with 4 beds consisting of a twin and a bunk bed. Additional sleeping is acceptable by agreement.

Northend's view includes Golden cap, the 2nd highest point on the South Coast. Seatown is the local beach and has the only pub in rural beach location in the vicinity.

The hill behind the farm opens up a magnificent 360 degree view of the coast to and beyond Lyme Regis to the south west and Portland to the south east. To the north is the Marshwood Vale, a lush rich dairy vale surmounted by the Dorset peaks of Pilsdon, Lewsdon, and Coneys Castle. The Marshwood vale is the home of Denhay farm, famous for it's cheeses and bacon and Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's TV series 'River Cottage'. The Marshwood vale is a haven for cyclists and walkers and the Shave's Cross pub situated in the middle is only an hours brisk walk from the farm for those that like to work up an appetite. The Activities in and around the Marshwood Vale are published in the free monthly Marshwood Magazine.
Eddie, your host also offers tandem paragliding through www.skysafaris.co.uk.

An ideal property for a large family gathering. There were nine of us in total - 6 adults and 3 children. Details of how to find the property were clear and accurate. A lovely spacious thatched property. So much space for the children. A pool table and a piano in one room. A large garden with a trampoline. Fruit trees and a poly tunnel which Eddie kindly said we could use, not to mention walks from the property with blackberry bushes . The children loved it! Easy distance by car to both Lyme Regis and Charmouth. Mapperton House also worth visiting - not as crowded as a National Trust property! We would all love to return for another relaxing break!

Very helpful host ensured we arrived safely after discovering road closures in area. Fabulous cream tea left for our arrival. A wonderful place for all ages to stay together. We enjoyed the pool and table tennis available, used the BBQ and generally enjoyed the area. Thankyou Eddie

We arrived at the farmhouse on the 12th August 2022 for a week, family of 12 ranging from 5 years old to 84 and vinnie our Frenchie ..lovely box of fresh scones clotted cream and jam to greet us . The farmhouse was well equipped for our big family with everything we needed, the downstairs bedroom and ensuite was great for my dad, beautiful bedrooms with wonderful views, The games room was well used by us all plenty of games and a dressing up box for the kids and wigs for the adults ? The weather was kind to us with only one day of rain on that day we visited local museum and churches Visited 3 lovely beaches and had lovely evening meals out at local pubs Also had a wonderful meal cooked at the farmhouse with us all sitting round the massive table, made good use of the BBQ on a couple of evenings with the kids playing in the lovely garden with no worries, can't fault the farmhouse for a family holiday, just what we all needed we did have a problem with one of the televisions not working but this was quickly sorted by Eddie If your looking for a family holiday then this is the place to go absolutely beautiful farmhouse in the most idyllic setting Thank you Eddie and team for a great stay xx

A lovely, well stocked farmhouse in a gorgeous location. Everything was clean if a little well worn, but this just meant we didn’t feel worried about the kids making themselves at home. Eddie was a hands off host but available when we needed any info.

A great place for a large family gathering - old rambling farmhouse with spectacular views. Great games room, good kitchen and eating space. Outdoor tables for outside eating aswell. House fairly dusty and garden rustic.
