Only a few minutes away from Main Street in Narrowsburg, with its amazing restaurants, galleries and shops, this beautiful house provides peace and quiet of country living. Explore the great outdoors by hitting the trails or rafting down Delaware River, watch the birds and wildlife from the porch, gaze at the stars or make s’mores by the fire — there’s so many things to enjoy!
Our quirky house has four entrances: the main one has a yellow door that leads into the living area through a small foyer.
The wood paneled living room has a large smart TV, Wii U console and games, DVD player and a collection of our favorite movies, board games for kids of all ages and a few books and magazines. There’s a full bathroom by the stairs.
French door leads to the small sunroom, perfect place for morning coffee, afternoon meditation, nap or card game. Stepping out of the door you will find a round garden, full of aromatic herbs and flowers.
To the other side of the living room is a dining area with built-in shelves and cabinets. There’s a barware set-up, stemware and table linens are provided for both indoor and outdoor dining. This room has the window AC that cools the whole main floor pretty well. On the cooler days open windows are more than enough to be comfortable and there are removable nets to keep the bugs out.
Finally, large bright kitchen with original 1940s cabinets; large kitchen island and barstools; toaster oven; French press coffee maker; large refrigerator; gas stove and oven; pots and pans; dishes and cups; cutlery and other utensils; and basic cooking sundries. Tap water is extra filtered by the under sink water filter.
Kitchen door leads to the large back yard, appointed with slate stone patio furnished with dining table set, 2 chez lounges, sun umbrella and charcoal grill. Perfect set up for dining alfresco!
Behind the patio is an enclosed garden with raised beds. You can plant your own vegetables if you choose to or just enjoy whatever will be able to grow (most likely flowers and herbs that don’t require much watering).
Opposite the patio on the left is a small pond that is fed by the babbling brook. There you’ll find a fire pit set-up with Adirondack chairs, perfect for that after-dinner story time and s’mores.
Back inside the house, take the stairs up to the sleeping quarters: there are three bedrooms and a bathroom. Two of the bedrooms have queen size beds, window ACs and ceiling fans. The smaller bedroom has a twin bed and a pull-out trundle. There’s a small “secret room” behind the bed that will sure to spark some fun play time for kids.
Even though the house is near the main road and there will be an occasional noisy biker group riding through, the traffic isn’t heavy and at night it’s nice and quiet.
My family of 5 had a delightful stay in this house. The place was warm, comfortable and well stocked. The house was artfully decorated and very pretty. Elizabeth was very easy to reach though we barely needed to contact her as everything was easy to find. There were a lot of nice hikes in the area. We were looking for a quick getaway and really enjoyed our stay here.
The house was great! Cozy and super functional. My friends and I had a great time just hanging out and spending time together in this lovely little home. The town of Narrowsburg was smaller than expected, but had several eateries to satisfy our needs. If you are looking to get away from it all this is your place! And not too far from interesting things to do - Bethel, Callicoon, the Delaware River for water sports.
Elizabeth and her cottage were an absolute delight. We had everything we needed and more for our long weekend wrapped around a concert at Bethel Woods. The home is beautifully and artfully decorated, the kitchen plentifully stocked, beds comfy. Close to Tusten Mountain Trail and about a 20-minute drive to Bethel Woods Center for the Arts and other neighboring towns with shops and restaurants. Elizabeth was responsive to all my questions and needs. Will definitely try to book again, if we ever make it there, again! Thank you, Elizabeth!
We had a great returning stay here. Enjoyed the cool inside thanks to the a/c and the outdoor space looks great. We hope to stay here on our next visit to Narrowsburg.
A wonderful home and peaceful yard, very clean, every light switch is labeled, responsive host. Perfect distance from Bethel Woods.
My family stayed at the property for a few days while visiting family. The house was wonderfully appointed with too for everyone. I would certainly book this property again when in the area.
Elizabeth's house was ideal for our family New Year holiday and birthday celebration. We hope to come back in warmer weather to experience the beautiful outdoor area behind the house. Elizabeth is a great host, very responsive and informative. Overall, a delight!
We enjoyed our two night stay. It is on a nice piece of property. Would be even better in summertime or fall.
Renting was easy, owner friendly and helpful.
We cooked, we drank, we laughed and played board games. Went antiquing. The fall colors were just gorgeous.
My family visited the area for our parents wedding anniversary and are so glad we stayed at Elizabeth’s home. It was cozy, well appointed and charming. We had everything we needed to cook meals, do laundry- all the basics. The rooms each had their own vibe and we each enjoyed them. Walking in the pines in the backward first thing in the morning was magical. Thank you Elizabeth! And extra special thanks for the Prosecco you left for my parents celebration.
Excellent, Elizabeth was fantastic and house was beautiful and super well supplied
Great backyard and very clean and organized. It was about 20 minutes when from Bethel and worked out great when we stayed here for a two day show.
Check in was super easy. The hosts had great communication and were a great help. The house is beautiful and super comfortable. The yard & property is amazing. So much room and space to hang out and wnjoy your time. A+ stay!
Our stay at Lava house was perfect. The house was very clean, well equipped and very charming. You can sense that the owners are creative, thoughtful people, who want you to fall in love with their home. Even plates, bowls and cups had fun patterns and were a pleasure to use. The territory around the house is very pretty. They have a pond with fish and plenty of charming areas to seat around the property. Barbecue equipment is also available. Either you’ll nap on the porch or enjoy dinners at the big table outside you would love spending time at this wonderful home. I miss it already.
